PART III | SENDING LOVE FROM DOWNPOURS
"Because that's what friends are for."

A FEW DAYS PASSED ALONG, AND SIMON WAS FINALLY HOME. I remembered when I heard Simon's car pulled up on the drive-way, while I was in the house playing with Lucy. I went the way to welcome them as soon as they opened the door, and I was soon greeted as well with a hug from Simon, which was undeniably warm.
A subtle yet reassuring smile was given from him right after the embrace. I felt happy, happy that he was back; happy that he's by my side again. Maybe this is how it feels having someone you could count on; a friend.
Simon's parents said a quick 'thank you' before heading back to the car to get the other luggage. They brought an awful lot of things for a family of three, as for what I had seen.
Before I decided to leave, I gave Lucy a quick pet on the head and Simon spoke to me.
"Thanks for taking care of Lucy, Jude. I never thought you guys would get along so well."
"She's really cute, Simon."
Like you.
But it's not that I could say that out loud. I never would have.
Even when he's the cutest thing in the world, I could never tell him that.
I left not so long later.
I hate myself so much.
