THE LATER THE HOUR, THE GREATER THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE COMING INTO THE HOUSE. Simon tries his best to stay next to Jude at all times, but having Jude talking to people he doesn't know is definitely not making his job any easier.
Jude's talking to a guy who Simon assumes is the Tyler he was talking about earlier. Tall, broad, and nonetheless good looking. With a girl who looks similar to him, most likely his sister, standing next to him with plastic cups in their hands. They were talking about baseball and other random things that Simon didn't really care about, he feels so out of place.
"So, Talia, did you make it into the volleyball team?" Jude speaks, asking the girl next to Tyler.
A smile is brought upon her face, answering with a yes. Simon tries to look at her when she doesn't realise, noticing her skin glowing to the ceiling light. Her natural hair seems intentionally messy, her eyes were quite pretty too. She and her brother both look amazing in their own way, and it made Simon wonder whether it was actually possible to look so good without any effort.
"Hey, you okay?"
Tyler touches Simon's shoulder, looking at him.
"Oh, yeah. Yeah, I'm fine! I mean I'm okay, good." The additional thumbs up from Simon after a panicked response seems to be the thing that threw everything off.
"..Okay.." Tyler looks away to take a sip of his drink, flashing Jude a weird look.
Talia laughs a little, making Simon blush in embarrassment. Jude turns to the ginger haired boy next to him, mouthing a soft 'don't worry' with a reassuring smile.
"Come on Simon, let's get you a drink." Judith signals Simon to come along with him, tugging his arm a little.
"O-okay."
Simon follows behind the walking Judith, sliding past a bunch of people he doesn't know the name to. He feels slightly light-headed with this much people around him, but he still tries to navigate his way through the sea of people in the house.
They soon reach the kitchen, Jude grabs a plastic cup and proceeds to pour some soda for Simon. As he hands it to Simon, he speaks.
"Don't accept drinks from anyone but me. Remember that."
Simon holds the cup, he nods to Jude's instructions. Standing against the kitchen counter, the two take mouths of their drinks, before deciding what to do next.
Soon, Simon spots a girl he feels that is familiar to him.
Priya, the girl from his art class, is standing with a bunch of other girls by the oven. The only girl that talked to him in free will; The girl who thinks Picasso's artwork is 'overrated'.
He goes over to her, excited to be able to talk to somebody else besides than Judith. Jude didn't mind him going to someone else, by all means he was actually happy that Simon could talk to somebody else.
Simon taps Priya's shoulder, only to be hugged by her tightly.
"This is Simon, cutest thing in the world!" she lets go of Simon, poking his right cheek.
Her friends smiled and greeted Simon warmly, and he waves back in return.
"I didn't realise you were here until I saw you here, Priya."
"Ha, I never thought you would come to these things." She punches his shoulder lightly, and a girl laughs.
"Right, since you're here, you gotta meet my girlfriend!" She tugs the shirtsleeve of the girl who stood opposite to her. The other girl was clearly caught off-guard when Priya pulled her, as she stumbled slightly from her steps.
"H-hey, Simon. I'm Jackie." The girl introduces herself while Priya gives her a kiss on the cheek.
"Isn't she pretty, Si?" Priya brags, making Jackie blush.
"Yeah, she is. Take good care of her." He smiles to them both, with the indian girl smiling in return ever so contently.
"So Simon, do you have someone special right now?" Priya gives a cheeky smirk to Simon, almost making him choke on his drink.
"Uh, I don-" he stutters to think but he was soon interrupted by a familiar voice behind him, and a light tap on the shoulder.
"Simon, I'm going to the backyard. Do you want to come along?" Jude rests his hand of Simon's shoulder as he asks, which scared Simon a little.
"Yeah, I'll come along." The ginger haired boy replies after trying to swallow his coughs.
Priya and Jackie look at the two for a mere second, soon with Jackie speaking up.
"Wow, didn't know Judith was your boyfriend." Jackie teases as she eyes Jude with a smirk.
"Very funny, Jackie." Judith answers sarcastically while pulling Simon along with him.
Jude trips from something, but manages to catch his steps and avoids falling down.
"DON'T FALL-" Priya yells, only to be continued by Simon.
"-OUT BOY!"
Simon yells back while giving Priya finger guns, and she did the same in return.
"You're so lame, Simon." Judith voices.
Simon turns back towards Jude, scrunching up his nose before following Jude to the back.
"I didn't know you knew Jackie." Simon asks, while desperately trying to follow Jude.
"She's from my middle school, same class-" Jude replies while moving pass some people in speed.
Simon couldn't hear the rest of his sentence from the loud music playing in the background, but his eyes focused on the boy he's following, everything and everyone else just seems to blur away from his thoughts.
"Hey Jude, slow down a little." Simon pants as he runs towards Jude, only to be returned with a faint touch.
Simon feels a hand holding his, pulling him along. It feels so warm despite the cold air-conditioning in the house.
He follows the boy in front of him; the boy that is holding his hand.
He could feel Judith gradually slowing down.
And at that moment, he felt like the world did too.
