The Invitation

1930 Words
"Why were you in the library? Don't you have class in the first period?" Catalina asked, looking back at Blair as they finally get themselves outside the Library. Blair rubbed her nape, looking back at Catalina shyly, didn't expect Catalina to suddenly ask about that. "I was late and decided to just ditch the whole class by going to the library instead." Catalina was shocked at that, never ever did Blair, when they are still in the same class, came late in class. She's always as early as Catalina so that news is pretty new to Catalina but she didn't pay much attention to that, thinking that maybe Blair just had an emergency so she failed to make it in class. "Then I should be thankful that you were late 'cause you had helped me with Calculus." Catalina said, trying to make the situation even lighter. Blair laughed at that and failed to stop herself from patting Catalina's head. The action made Hestia's breathing became heavy, lacking in air, losing control of her system.  Blair. Just. Patted. My. Head. The two went quiet after that. Blair is scolding herself internally for acting like they were pretty close. While Catalina is stopping herself from screaming. When they finally reached Blair's classroom, Blair was about to step inside the room after bidding Catalina goodbye but Catalina stopped her by tugging on one of the sleeves of her uniform. Blair looked back at her, didn't expect Catalina to stop her. "I was- I was just wondering if you would like to hang out with me, maybe a lunch, a coffee, or a meal just to return the favor of you teaching me Calculus. I-It will be my treat." Catalina asked, biting her lip hard after and internally crossing her fingers, wishing for God to please let Blair accept the invitation. Blair was stunned and couldn't believe that Catalina is inviting her to a dat- lunch, a coffee, or a meal. Blair of course tried not to look down on Catalina's inviting lips but failed the very first millisecond she tried to convince herself not to. And now she can't help but wonder what could be those lips taste like, she bet it was addictingly soft and sweet. The only way to know is to taste it, right? Catalina took it as bad news when Blair failed to make a move or say anything, she looked down and removed her hand on Blair's sleeves, failing to hide her disappointment. Blair came to her senses when Catalina's lips get off on her view, suddenly remembering to reply to Catalina's invitation. Blair grabbed Catalina's arm, making the stunned Catalina look upon her. "I would love to. Then see you after school?" Blair said then gave Catalina a wink. Catalina only managed to nod then finally let Blair enter her own room. She doesn't want to look weird or what so when Blair turned her back on her, she also made her way to her room which is just beside Blair's. "Hey bestie what took-" Suzy didn't get a chance to finish her statement 'caused Catalina ran towards her and gave her a tight hug. Suzy was about to ask what happened, why is her best friend now looks like the happiest person ever alive even though earlier she's in a hellish mood. But instead of those words, a scream is what heard on her as Catalina bit her on her shoulder, finally finding a way to release her emotions. -- Suzy rubbed the part of her shoulders that Catalina bit while shooting daggers on Catalina's way. Suzy no longer needs to check her shoulders just to be sure that Catalina really left teeth marks there, she was sure Catalina did. Catalina is humming the same song that she hummed during the first day of school when she hasn't learned that Blair is in a different class yet. Catalina is busy checking her reflection on the mirror, making sure that she's as beautiful as when she arrived this morning and she's not stinking, though it never happened. The class just ended and most of their classmates had left already to go home, if Catalina maybe doesn't have a 'date' with Blair, she maybe had left their room too. But because she has a 'date' she's a little bit busy being conscious of herself. When she's finally done, Catalina stood upon her seat and gets her things. Her smile is not leaving her lips ever since her encounter with Blair. It maybe sounds creepy but that's how happy and grateful she is that finally, this day came. Catalina also believes that she's finally in level 2, yeah, on the way to getting Blair as her lover. Catalina doesn't have any idea how many steps or levels or whatsoever does she need to accomplish to finally get Blair. She doesn't care about that as long Blair is the ending, then it's a happy ending. "I'll go now bestie. Just spread the word to childhood sweethearts and wait for my gossips later. Bye, take care." Catalina said and left the classroom after kissing her best friend on the cheek. Suzy maybe is pissed about her best friend, biting her like she's a zombie, but still, she can't help but wish her best friend the best for this 'date'. She witnessed how obsessed this best friend of her is with Blair, and after hearing Catalina and Blair's encounter, she's genuinely happy but she really hopes that Catalina will never ever bit her again. It hurts like hell.  As Catalina stepped out of the classroom, she found Blair leaning her back on the wall just beside the door and scrolling on her phone. Catalina swears that she almost drool at the sight. Blair just looks so beautiful in their uniform. She looks so yummy... Blair, getting that feeling that someone is watching her, raised her head and instantly met Catalina's orbs. Blair leaned her back away from the wall and gave Catalina a sweet smile sending Catalina a bunch of butterflies on her stomach. Then it hit Catalina, what if she made Blair wait for her for too long? What if Blair heard her conversation with Suzy? What- "Hi, Catalina." Blair put her phone back in her skirt's pocket and straightened herself. "Ah- Blair. I didn't know you're here. I thought you're going to wait for me at the gate." Catalina said, feeling extremely nervous for multiple reasons. "Oh, I thought I can just wait for you here since our classrooms are just adjacent to each other. Is it not okay?" Blair asked while scratching her neck, feeling really embarrassed at the thought that her waiting Catalina just outside the wall is a wrong move. "N-No it's not like that. I just- I just didn't expect to find you here. Anyway, did I made you wait for too long?" "No. It's okay. I don't mind waiting." Blair said, shaking her head. Catalina wanted to ask if Blair heard them talking about her or at least get the clue that she's the topic. But she's scared and not really sure how will she deliver the question. She's afraid that if she asks those questions Blair will grow more suspicious, that's if Blair is still oblivious to Catalina's feelings. So Catalina decided to just pretend that she's completely normal and not been obsessing with Blair for 7 years. "Where are we going?" Catalina asked looking between Blair and in the way. "Where do you want to go?" "I'm fine anywhere as long as I'm with you." Of course, that's not what Catalina replied but that's what she's begging to say. She really meant it. She really doesn't care wherever she goes as long as she's with Blair. Blair is the most important person in her life, excluding her parents. Blair is the most beautiful thing that ever happened to her though just meeting Blair is what she's talking about. Blair is her dream that she really wants to be her reality. Blair is the missing piece in her life. Blair, Blair is that person that made her believe in fate.  "Ahm. I don't know? Maybe somewhere we can eat?" Catalina said, unsure. Blair finds that uncertainty of her cute: how she tilted her head to the side, how one corner of her lips raised awkwardly, or even how she stared at Blair's eyes. Blair is mesmerized by Catalina's God-perfectly sculpted features and she really wished that she's close enough to at least pinch her cheeks or nose. But Blair wonders if that day will ever come. "Then how about we just check the restaurant that recently opened in the downtown area? I heard the food is fantastic there. There's also an arcade place near there. Well, that is if you're fine to go there." Blair said while scratching her nape again. Catalina can't help but smile at Blair's cute side. Blair's cute side is just a sight that's begging for her to see. "I'm good with it. I'm actually curious what can be found inside an arcade place since I've never been into it." That was a lie. Catalina was never been interested in arcade games, sports, or any outdoor activities but if that's the only way to get closer to Blair then she will say yes to sweat and noise. The two decided to go to the arcade place first then just head to the new restaurant after. It was a perfect plan. A perfect plan to spend a few hours at each other's side, sounding like they are on a date. But fate is maybe not on their side right now.  The two are happily conversing, had their Calculus teacher as the topic walking towards the gate when they bumped their way on Yves and Jared. Jared is aware of this, that Blair and Catalina will hang out after school. Blair informed him and he doesn't have any reason to disagree with it. While Yves, he's shocked to see the two and happy at the same time. One thought is running on his mind, Blair is helping him on Catalina. "Oh, hi Blair and Catalina. Where are you two going?" Blair clenched her jaw, knowing Yves this will be a mess. "We'll just hang out outside the school." It was Blair who answered Yves's question and she really is hoping that Yves will just let them go after hearing that but of course, Yves didn't. "Really? Can we tag along?" One thing runs on Blair's mind the moment she heard those words, f**k. Yeah, f**k. "I'm not sure about that. It depends on what Catalina prefers." The three looked back at Catalina, waiting for her answer. Catalina suddenly feels anxious about the current situation. She wanted to refuse. Of course, she doesn't want them to ruin her oh-so-called date with Blair. She's been waiting for this day for years. So she really can't forgive whoever will destroy her date with Blair. But at the same time, she can't say no. If she did say no, Blair maybe will find her weird or whatsoever. Catalina also thought that if she refused, Blair's friend will find her mean and she of course doesn't want that to happen. As for Blair, she really is begging God to convince Catalina to refuse. But that's not what happened, what words left Catalina's lips instead are, "Sure. I don't mind." And Blair, what she only managed to do that time is offered them a small smile as she nods her head. Great. Just great. Now, kill me.
