Yvonne's P.o.V

(Phone rings)

Where in the name of God are you, Yvonne?

What! that's Mr.Dan's voice.

Mr.Dan?Good morning ,Sir.I greeted.

What is good about this morning when you are suppose to be here doing your job, Mr.Dan said.

Those words struck me and it was then I realized that I am an hour late for work.

I'm so sorry,Sir.I had barely finished when he hung up.

"Damn"!I must have been wasted from Gloria's birthday party that I had forgotten that the day after is Monday and should have been home early enough so that I can rest well and prepare for the following day.

Although,the party was worth it,but Gloria is just one spoilt brat that shows off pretty often and I am not a fan of that.

I could remember when we were still in high school,she was so mean,rude and boastful towards others.

There was a day I was passing through the walk way when I saw Gloria with some of her cohort ganged up against a girl who was later discovered to be Gina.

Gloria slapped Gina for refusing to kneel when she asked her to just because her then boyfriend was cheating on her with her.

Sometimes,I wonder where Steph and Gloria cross paths and became friends, because those two are the exact opposite.

I wouldn't have gone to the party if not for Steph. Steph has been so nice and kind to me from the beginning of our friendship till this moment and I'd forever be grateful to her.

I could remember when she stood up for me one time when some bully tried to attack me .She literally saved my life that day and that was the beginning of our friendship.

"Mr.Dan",I am really sorry.It won't happen again,I pleaded after getting to my work place.

It better not.Now get to work,Mr.Dan said.

Thank you sir ,I quickly responded as I leave for my space.

Although,Mr.Dan is a very good boss,but can be strict when it comes to business.

I work on the Dark-Sky Island as an aquaculturist and the Island is one of the Islands that belongs to the wealthiest clan on the continent-The almighty "D'gnitaris".

The D'gnitaris control almost every business in the country.They own the world's largest Island that can ever be owned by a private body.

The Island where I work has been known to be the home for fresh sea food,grapes, wines and everything agriculture. Although, other Islands differ in terms of service.Luckily, for me the Island isn't too far from where I live.

It is closing hour and I was going to get coffee when coincidentally,I happen to see my landlord and my heart won't just stop pounding.

Not now,not here,my mind won't stop talking.

Oh,my God!How do I face him now?

Although,I have been expecting him two days prior,but to my surprise ,I didn't and he didn't even call me or anything.I tried calling him to beg for more time,but to no avail.

"Hi", Yvonne,he said.

"Hello",Mr.Berry,I greeted with a smile.

I see you are just closing for the day.

Yeah,right,I said with an awkward smile.

Mr.Berry ,I haven't forgotten about your rent.I promise to make it up to you, soonest.Just please,gimme some weeks.Please!

"Not to worry" .I purposely didn't call you as I can see through you, Yvonne. You are a smart, hardworking lady and I know how it feels like not having a shoulder to lean on. I have been there ,trust me.

However,I'd give you a 4 months ultimatum after which you'd have to evacuate the building unless paid.He added.

It was as if a load was taken off my shoulder with those words that it makes me want to hug him.

"Thank you ",so much,Mr.Berry.

I so much appreciate this .Bless you,sir I said with big smile.

I'll take my leave now and do send my regards to your Dad ,he said as he waved me good bye.

"Oh,God". Thank you,I said releasing a heavy sigh.

I hurriedly took my coffee and headed home.

Knock!knock!!knock!!

Who's there?My Dad asked.

Your beautiful daughter,I said dropping the food stuff I had bought and hugging my Dad, subsequently.

"Welcome home",sweetie. How's work today?Dad asked.

Today was good ,Dad. Guess who I met today?I was so excited to tell my Dad that I couldn't contain it any longer.

I know what you're thinking Dad,but he's given us a 4 months ultimatum.

"Good Lord",he said sounding relieved .

"Yup",I'll just prepare dinner for us now ,Dad.

I was about to get up when I noticed something strange.

Oh,no. This isn't good.
