JACK’S POV The cafeteria was loud, buzzing with voices and laughter. It should’ve been normal, just another lunch period like every other day. Except it wasn’t. Not for me. Because every time my eyes wandered, they landed on her - Ashley - sitting across the room with Jason, Melissa, and a few others. Her hair fell over her shoulders in soft waves. Her face glowed under the bright lights like she had her own spotlight. I wasn’t trying to stare. Not intentionally.
