ASHLEY’S POV Homeroom felt louder than usual the next morning. People were buzzing, whispering, tapping their feet under desks. I sat between Melissa and one of the other cheerleaders, trying to act like my heart wasn’t still bruised and throbbing from everything that happened with Lucas. The principal’s voice crackled through the speakers overhead. “Students, I’m excited to announce that our annual Masquerade Dance will be held in two weeks…” The entire room erupted.
