Her Redemption

Prologue

Residing alone with my sick father in our less than the lavish house has never been a problem. Even though he wasn’t capable of taking care of me, or himself, I willingly and gladly took the role upon myself.

I live in Santa Monica, California with my father. I attend Ridgewood high school with my best friend Riley. It is a prestigious school so no amount of money I would’ve saved in my entire eighteen years of living would’ve been enough to take me a year there not to talk of three years. I had always taken my education seriously, it was my number two priority seeing as my dad took number one, so I always studied harder than what one would call hard and it paid off by landing me a scholarship.

The students there gave up on trying to befriend me as I valued my books more but only Riley stuck around. She was one hell of a pusher. I always attended classes unfailingly unless I had an emergency at home. No one knew about my dad except Riley and I liked it that way, well that was until Forrest Pierce decided it would be a wonderful idea to “suck out all my juicy secrets and have a lifetime of entertainment.” His words, not mine.

I went on with my normal routine switching between home and school until one faithful day, something drastic happened which shook my life to its core and never left it the same.
