Alina's POV
We attended the funeral and while everyone was giving their speeches and paying condolences, I just sat there thinking about the possibility of me being a werewolf. I didn't even notice we were done with the funeral until Chris tapped me.
"Hey Alina, we are done," he said.
I quickly zapped back into consciousness, I have been lost in thoughts and running between being a werewolf and a part of the UA.
Jayce loved me like I was his own, I couldn't even think about betraying him for the werewolves that killed my family.
I tried keeping it all together and under control but somehow it was obvious I was thinking about a lot.
I was in my room but I was more like in the room of my heart trying to connect dots and solve puzzles when I heard a knock on my door.
"Who is that?" I asked.
"It's me," Jayce replied.
What could be wrong or did he find out about the test results already? I asked myself these questions before heading for the door to let Jayce in.
Immediately I opened the door, he asked, "Are you ready to tell me what's bothering you?" he asked.
I sighed and walked back to sit down. Then, he came inside and shut the door behind him.
"Ali, what's wrong? I know I didn't watch you grow but after these weeks we've spent together I know when you are not yourself. Talk to me," he said.
"I, I'm just in my feelings. Watching Sam die brought back old memories and since that incident, those bad memories kept on playing in my head," I replied.
"Look Ali, you know you can talk to me about anything right?" he asked.
"Yes, I do," I replied.
"I know there's a big void in your life that cannot be filled but you can share some of your burdens with me. I'm trying to be there for you, let me be there for you. Can you do that?" he asked.
"Yes, I can," I replied.
"You know I don't want one of my agents slacking. Moreover, you are more than just an agent to me," he said. "That means a lot," I replied.
He then opened his arms attempting to hug me. I did the same and we hugged each other.
"I need you smiling and ready to go," he said.
When we were done hugging, he was about to leave the room when I asked him a lingering question of mine.
"Has a werewolf ever worked with the UA?" I asked.
"No. We are fighting werewolves, remember?" Jayce replied.
"Yeah. I'm just being curious," I replied.
"Are you sure this doesn't have to do with anything? Or do you suspect anyone amongst us to be a werewolf?" he asked.
"No, not at all. I was thinking if we can have a werewolf join us it will be a big plus," I said.
"No, we have to get rid of them all, we can't let them keep running around and slashing people's throats. No matter how good they might seem, their hunter nature is always there. They prey on people for fun," he said.
"Yeah, yeah. I just wanted to know, it's just a curious thought of mine," I said.
"Okay if you say so," he said and started to walk out of my room.
"And remember, you can come to me with anything," he said and left.
"Yes sir." I whispered as he walked away.
I waited till it was dark and most people were in their rooms before sneaking into the clinic.
"Are the results out yet?" I asked.
"Yes. Here it is." the doctor replied and handed me the test results.
"You are a hybrid Alina. half werewolf, half human." she said, looking at me with an eyebrow raised.
Oh my goodness. I was a freaking hybrid. That explained my quick healing from my injuries.
I couldn't believe my eyes and couldn't utter a word. I froze for a few seconds and the words that came out of my mouth were... "Is this the only copy?" I asked.
"Yes," she replied.
"This is between only me and you right?" I asked.
"Of course," she replied.
"You promise? because I have to figure out something before filling Jayce in." I said.
"Take your time, there's no problem on my end," she said.
I wondered if I could trust her words as I walked back to my room scrambled and puzzled. I kept asking myself "which of my parents was the werewolf?" Maybe one of my parents was a werewolf and maybe either of my parents that was the werewolf kept it from the UA since Jayce said a werewolf never worked with them unless Jayce was lying.
I was sitting in my room and still trying to make sense of everything when the alarm sounded.
"Everyone should meet at the meeting room now," a voice on the speaker said.
Did they find out about me or did the meds give me up? I was scared but went to the meeting anyway. Getting to the meeting room instead of Jayce giving the speech, I saw new faces.
"Sorry, we haven't had a chance to introduce ourselves to the recruits yet. For now, all you should know is we are the board members and sponsors of this facility. We pay for all the armouries and kits you use," he said.
Jayce never told me about them but that isn't a problem because I don't have any business with them only, that is about to change tonight.
"We want better results and to get rid of these monsters as soon as possible," he said.
"We came up with a plan alongside Jayce to get someone to infiltrate the pack," he said.
"Like an inside person, giving us information we can use to take these monsters down as soon as possible," the other guy said.
"But we need only one person to volunteer. Given how risky this mission will be, we deemed it fit for anyone who was willing to go for it and not pick anyone against his or her own will," he said.
This is a chance to do something great for the UA, my parents, and myself. Moreover, who better to infiltrate a werewolf pack than a werewolf herself? I thought to myself
"We wouldn't have taken this step if everything was still running smoothly. From last week till now they've killed five people; three civilians and two of our agents. Moreover, they just lost their Alpha thanks to Alina.
"They will be unsettled now that they are without an alpha," he said.
"I will do it," I said without hesitating.
