Alina's POV
The moment Jayce announced it, I was so sure that I could do it. I mean I have been training for years ever since I entered the Unanimous Assembly so what better person was fitting enough to do it?
Moreover, I really needed to prove myself.
"Ali, are you sure about this?" Jayce asked.
"It's my decision," I stated firmly.
"Don't you need time to think this through?" one of the board members said.
"No, I know what I want," I said. I was so adamant. Why do they always try to find ways to talk me out of things? Have they forgotten the main reason I joined the UA? If they did, well I certainly have not.
Everyone in the room looked at me like I had chosen to commit suicide only, it was some sort of a suicide mission.
"If that is your decision then the meeting is over," he said.
I smiled inwardly, feeling accomplished.
Everyone started leaving the room.
"Alina, thanks for this brave act of yours. Now we want you to start preparing to leave. We will let you know when you are to leave," one of the members said.
"Yes sir," I said and turned to walk away.
Immediately I left the room I heard someone open the door and shut it behind me then I started hearing footsteps. I turned to look who it was and unsurprisingly it was Jayce.
"Look, it was my decision okay?" No one compelled me," I said before he could even say anything.
"I know and I support you. I just want to let you know that I am one hundred percent behind you and I respect your decision," he said.
I walked up to him and hugged him.
"Please don't get in trouble, you are the closest I've come to being a father," he said.
One thing Jayce was very good at is making me emotional.
Jayce didn't have any child or wife because he dedicated his whole life to the UA and saving humanity from werewolves.
We let go of each other and both went our separate ways. He went to his room and I went back to my room.
I slept that night with a bit of relief knowing that I won't have to hide anything from the UA or Jayce anymore.
I woke up very early in the morning and went for a run in the woods to keep myself sharp.
I was done doing workouts and was jogging back to the facility when someone from behind a tree I just passed hit me from behind and held me against the tree. Surprisingly, it was the same guy I pointed my gun at and couldn't bring myself to shoot, with the same handsome face.
He tried punching me but I quickly bent down and dodged the punch, that way the punch smashed the tree and broke part of it. I couldn't even imagine taking that punch.
I quickly flipped him over and landed him on the ground, jumped on him and punched him repeatedly then took out my knife and stabbed him.
He punched me in my belly and I couldn't take it and fell off him, he took out the knife like nothing happened. Well, I wasn't surprised by my werewolf ability anymore.
Before I could stand up he picked me up and threw me against a tree. He tried picking me up from the ground again but this time I swept him off his feet and he fell on his back. I tried stamping him to the ground with my feet but he grabbed my leg and threw me to the ground. He punched me repeatedly.
"You murdered my dad," he said while punching me.
"Your dad killed my parents," I said the same moment he had said that.
He stopped punching me after he heard what I said.
"My dad?" he asked.
"Yes, that was the reason I joined the UA. To get revenge for my parents." I said.
He froze and couldn't say a thing. I guess he was shocked.
"Your dad with some other people killed both my parents and the UA were the ones that took me in."
I said he stood for a while and didn't say anything then he finally said. "All these were caused by humans and ourselves fighting against each other."
I stood up from the ground and started dusting the sand off my body.
"We should end this war before many other parents or children are lost to it." I said.
"I agree but we will have to discuss more about this but this isn't a good time. How about we meet here tomorrow, same time?" He asked.
"No problem, make sure you don't come with your pack or claws." I said.
"Neither you with your knife or fighting skills," he said.
I picked up my knife and was about to go away when he called out, "What's your name?"
I turned and said with a grim face. "Alina."
"I'm Kaden." he replied even though I didn't ask for his name.
Kaden, such a fitting name, I thought as I rolled the syllables of his name in my mouth.
On my way back all the injuries I sustained from the fight were healed.
Healing shouldn't be a surprise to me anymore, agreed. But my healing wasn't this fast last time.
Somehow, I like this particular ability to heal. Much more like insurance.
I went back to the facility and was happy and eager to meet up with the rest of the pack.
While I walked back to my room. I met Jayce on my way. "Alina, the council members said you'll be leaving tomorrow by four noon," he said.
"Oh okay," I said.
"I'll see you before you leave right?" He asked.
"Of course," I said.
"Okay," he replied and walked past me.
I was excited for the mission to begin...
