I sat on the edge of the couch, my eyes fixed on Chloe as she worked on the spell. I couldn't help but wonder why she chose to come and stay with us. I had a feeling that there was more to her story than she was letting on.
"Chloe," I said finally, breaking the silence. "Can I ask you something?"
