For a moment, the corridor fell completely silent as Rowan's hand remained wrapped around my wrist.
A bitter laugh threatened to escape my throat while I jerked my hand sharply, trying to pull free.
"Let go."
Before Rowan could respond, Selena spoke first.
"My Alpha." Her voice trembled. Anyone listening would have thought she was the injured party. Rowan's eyes darkened. However, instead of looking at Selena, his gaze still lingered on my hand while his brows furrowed instantly.
Without warning, he pulled me toward him while I stiffened as the familiar scent of pine and rain surrounded me.
Funny how this scent that once made me feel safe but now, it only left me confused.
