Dinner pt.2

Justin greeted Marvin warmly as he entered the study where his two stepbrothers were already seated. Curious to know what they were discussing, Marvin asked, "What were y'all discussing?" However, Kylan's response was far from friendly, "None of your business." Marvin wasn't surprised by the rude behavior of his stepbrother and retorted, "Wow, real mature bro." Sensing the tense situation, Justin intervened and warned the boys not to start a fight. He explained to Marvin that they were discussing his ability to run the Bash Group, and he had told his sons that Marvin was the right man for the job. However, both Aaron and Kylan disagreed with him and were trying to convince him otherwise. Marvin wasn't surprised by their reaction and said, "Oh, I'm not surprised by that, Justin. I think that they think that the CEO and VP positions are birthright." Aaron and Kylan quickly denied Marvin's claim, but he was skeptical about their response. Justin intervened again and asked his stepsons to leave the room because he needed to discuss something important with Marvin. He also asked them to welcome their guests for the night, with their stepmother. Kylan and Aaron left Justin's study with disgusted looks on their faces. Aaron and Kylan were walking in the hallway, discussing a pressing matter. "We have to do something to get rid of Marvin," said Aaron, looking concerned. "I agree with you," responded Kylan, nodding in agreement. "But first, we need to figure out his strengths and weaknesses. It's strange how we barely know him, even though our dad has been married to his mom for almost 10 years," continued Aaron, looking thoughtful. Kylan rolled his eyes and said with a condescending tone, "Well, he was in the Army for the entire time, if you believe that, bro." After a few moments, the brothers made their way downstairs to meet their stepmother, Morgan. As they descended the stairs, Aaron's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, who's the woman with Morgan, Kylan?" he asked, his curiosity piqued. Kylan shrugged and replied, "I don't know, Aaron, but she is beautiful though. Do you think that's Marvin's girlfriend?" "f**k no, that brute can't get a girlfriend like that," Kylan said dismissively, shaking his head in disbelief." "Kylan, whoever she is, we should try to get her on our side to use her against Marvin," said Aaron. "I think that's the new VP," I think I can get her to date me," said Kylan. "Wait, aren't you seeing one of the Sands sisters?" asked Aaron. "Yes, I am," replied Kylan, "but Vanessa isn't my real girlfriend, though. Let's go and say hey to them," he suggested. "Hey Morgan, we're here to help you greet the guests when they arrive," they said. "Oh hey boys, where's Marvin?" Morgan asked. "Both said he's still in the study with Justin," Aaron replied. "Oh, okay, thank you. I'll send them a text when it's time to come down here," said Morgan. "Morgan, who is this lovely woman with you?" asked Kylan. "Sorry, where are my manners? This is Jennifer Gomez, she is the new VP of the company," Morgan replied. "Wow, it's nice to meet you, Jennifer," said Kylan. "It's nice to meet you too," said Jennifer. Justin and Marvin are having a serious conversation in the study. Justin tells Marvin that one of the reasons he chose him to be his replacement as CEO is that he thinks with his head, not with his other head. He also praises Marvin for not being someone who would waste company money or his own money. Marvin is sitting there, considering Justin's words. Justin then goes on to say that all his kids have a trust fund and money set up for them, but if they waste it all, don't give them s**t. Justin tells Marvin that his children are not like Marvin and his siblings. Marvin is surprised by Justin's words and feels overwhelmed. He tells Justin that there's a lot of information to take in. Justin understands but assures Marvin that he is the right person for this. He then asks if Marvin is currently in a relationship. Marvin answers that he is not seeing anyone. Justin is relieved and informs Marvin that an important business partner and board member is bringing his family for dinner tonight. What are their names?" asked Marvin. "Corey Sands," replied his dad. "His wife's name is Valerie and they have four daughters. Vanessa and Victoria, and the twins are Cassandra and Crystal. Vanessa and Victoria are around your age, 29 and 27. The twins are 24 years old. Thanks for the information, Dad," said Marvin. "Look, Marvin," his dad continued, "I need to warn you that you should be cautious when meeting new people. You never know if they are interested in you for who you are, or just because of your money and power." Marvin had a heart-to-heart conversation with his dad about his current love life. He expressed his uncertainty about dating anyone at the moment because he still had lingering feelings for his ex-girlfriend. Justin, his dad, inquired as to why they weren't together if they still had strong feelings for each other. Marvin explained that they were both operatives at the Agency and their work schedules never aligned, making it difficult for them to spend quality time together. They were like two trains passing each other in the night, and Marvin rarely had any chance to see her. The thought of not knowing where she was or what she was doing made him feel even more melancholic. Justin asked Marvin why his ex-girlfriend couldn't leave the Agency like he did. Marvin was left with no clear answer to that. He revealed to his dad that his last mission was extremely dangerous, and he was lucky to have made it out alive. The danger and unpredictability of their work made it challenging for anyone to leave the Agency once they had joined. "I am glad to hear that you are safe and with us now, my son," Justin said with a hint of relief in his voice. "May I ask, have you told Aaron and Kylan about my real background?" "No, I haven't," replied Justin. "They think that you left the army because they think you couldn't make it a career. Honestly, they are quite clueless." Marvin chuckled at their ignorance and said, "Well, I appreciate you keeping it that way. "Thank you, Dad," Marvin replied. "But hey, I want to tell you that I'm keeping my apartment by the way. There are some important things there." "I understand," said Justin. "Your mother mentioned that you would want to keep it. I need two safes for my home. I'll get them for you. Does Jennifer need a safe too?" I don't know Dad, I'll ask her when I see her, said Marvin. Both of their phones received a text message from Morgan, informing them that dinner was ready and most of the guests had arrived. As they head downstairs, Sands' family has just come in. Corey spotted Morgan, Aaron, and Kylan as they walked into the Bash house and greeted them warmly. "Hello Morgan, Aaron, and Kylan, it's great to see y'all again." Morgan replied, "It's nice to see you too." Where's Justin at? Asked Corey "He is in the study talking to my son Marvin," answered Morgan."Oh, okay. He told me that I would be meeting the new CEO tonight. I expected the new CEO would be already down here, right?" asked Corey. Morgan gave him no response."Hey Val, can you please accompany me to the dining room?" asked Morgan."Yes, I can," replied Valerie.Corey stood there speechless as Morgan and Valerie walked away."Are you okay, Dad?" asked Vanessa."Yeah, I am okay. I am unsure if Aaron and Kylan are replacing Justin as the CEO. Vanessa, are you still somewhat talking to Kylan?" asked Corey."Yes, I am, Dad, but it's not serious," Vanessa replied. "I thought you had a thing for Kylan sweetie. I think he's handsome, but I can't trust him like that, Dad." Corey nodded in understanding and suggested they head to the dining room. The four of them walked over and saw Valerie sitting at the dinner table with five empty chairs next to her. They took their seats right next to her. Corey noticed Jennifer sitting at the table next to Morgan. He wondered to himself who she was. Just then, the door to the dining room opened and Justin and Marvin walked in.
