Hey there, it's getting late. Valerie mentioned that it was time to start saying our goodbyes and getting ready to head back home. With a friendly smile, Marvin turned to Mr. and Mrs. Sands and said, "It was a pleasure meeting you". "You can call me Corey," replied Mr. Sands. Mrs. Sands nodded in acknowledgment. "Oh, alright then. I should go and have a chat with my stepdad about something. "Goodnight, ladies," Marvin said as he headed off. "Goodnight, Marvin," Vanessa and Victoria chimed in simultaneously. Marvin made his way to the back porch area where Justin was waiting. Vanessa complimented, "Sis, that man is truly impressive." Victoria replied confidently, "I know, Nessa. "I have to make him mine." "Well, may the best woman win," Vanessa responded, shaking Victoria's hand. As they bid farewell to the Bash estate, Corey and Valerie, their parents, discussed the Bash family with the girls in their family sprinter. Corey posed a question to Vanessa and Victoria. "Which one of you wants to be with Marvin?" Victoria quickly responded, "Both of us, Dad." Corey expressed his concern, "That's a problem. I don't think Marvin will go for that. He seems straightforward and isn't into games. You two need to figure something out."
"Justin asked, "How did your conversation with Corey go?" Marvin replied, "It was weird. It felt like he was trying to convince me to date one of his daughters." Justin responded, "I'm not surprised by that, son. "What do y'all need to go to Texas for?" Marvin explained, "We need to get the rest of Jennifer's stuff." Justin reassured them, "Ah, ok. That's no problem, son. "I will have one of our planes ready for you all on Friday morning," Marvin replied with thanks, Dad. "Also, let someone in the logistics department know so that we can have a moving team there for you," said Justin. "Where are Aaron and Kylan? I think they might be in the house, responded Justin. I hope they're not bothering Jenn. "Anyway, I should head out soon since I have a packed schedule tomorrow," said Marvin. Marvin walked into the house and heard Kylan's voice.
"Kylan, how can I convince you to join me for a coffee or lunch?" inquired Kylan. Jennifer replied, "I'm sorry, Kylan, but you're just not my type." Marvin interjected, "Kylan, leave Jennifer alone. She's not interested in going out with you, and aren't you talking to Vanessa?" Defensively, Kylan retorted, "Why are you getting involved in my personal life?" Marvin countered, "Jennifer is my best friend, Kylan. I won't let you bother her." "Goodnight, step-bro. We need to leave now as we have a busy day ahead," Jennifer said as she headed to the truck. Meanwhile, Marvin went to the living room to bid his mom, Morgan, goodnight. "Mom, we have to leave soon. We need to be in the office early tomorrow for a busy day," Marvin explained." "Goodbye, dear, it was wonderful to spend time with you," Morgan said with a warm smile as she hugged Marvin. "Take care, Mom," Marvin replied as he bid her farewell and stepped out of the house. He spotted Jennifer waiting in the truck and approached from the driver's side. "Thanks for bringing the truck," Marvin said appreciatively as he settled into the driver's seat. "It was no trouble, and thank you for stepping in back there, though I could have handled it," Jennifer said, acknowledging Marvin's assistance. "I know you could have, but I also know your patience for nonsense. I'd rather not deal with the aftermath of you getting into it with Kylan," said Marvin." What did you and your stepdad talk about?" asked Jennifer. Justin said, "I am the right man to be his replacement as CEO because I think with my head instead of thinking with my dick." Also, Marvin advised, "If his kids blow through their money, don't help them by giving them more money." "Wow, that's a lot of stuff to process," said Jennifer. "I know, right?" replied Marvin." We are here at your new home, Jenn. Thanks, bro. See you tomorrow morning at work. Yeah, see you tomorrow.
Marvin chose to drive back to his apartment rather than head to the new home provided for him by Justin. Once inside, he headed straight for his bedroom closet and unlocked a safe, retrieving a collection of documents detailing his most recent mission for the agency. As he pored over the contents, a satisfied smirk crossed his face, acknowledging his good fortune in completing the mission. The documents were returned to the safe, alongside his firearm, before Marvin readied himself for a shower and bedtime. Glancing at his reflection in the mirror, he took note of the scars etched into his skin over the years of service. While many had faded with time, the bullet wound on his shoulder remained a stark reminder that the healing process had left its mark.
Marvin had just finished a relaxing shower when the familiar chime of his phone filled the bathroom. He checked the caller ID and saw that it was Carlos Vazquez, an old friend. He swiped to answer the call. "Hey, Carlos. What's up?" Marvin greeted. "Hey, man, it's been a while," Carlos replied. "I wanted to let you know that my sister found out you're back in the States."
Marvin's heart skipped a beat. "Does she know where I am?" he asked, concern evident in his voice. "I can't say for sure, but you know how resourceful she can be. We both know she's no ordinary woman. "And with both of you being involved in government work, it's just a matter of time before she tracks you down," Carlos explained.
"Has she seen you?" Marvin inquired. "Yeah, she came for a family dinner. While we were eating, she was scrolling through her social media and stumbled upon a photo of you at some fancy dinner. It didn't go down well. She left the table in a fit, dropping swear words," Carlos recounted.
Fuck!!!! That must have been my mom. She was trying to share the good news that I was home. So she knows I'm in Atlanta," Marvin realized. "I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up at your doorstep in the next few days. Just wanted to give you a heads-up, man," Carlos said.
"I appreciate you letting me know, Carlos," Marvin replied gratefully. "No problem, you know you're practically family," Carlos said. "I know, man. Thanks again. "Goodnight, bro," Marvin said. "Night, bro," Carlos bid his farewell.
