As they entered the conference room, the attendees fell silent and turned their attention to a man standing in front of the room. He was Roger Thorn, a towering figure with a commanding presence. The former vice president of the Bash Group, Roger was known to be Justin Bash's right-hand man. Justin and Roger had been friends since childhood, and they had even served in the military together. One of the employees, a middle-aged man in a crisp suit, cleared his throat and spoke up. "Excuse me, Mr. Thorn, but does the new CEO know what he's doing?" he asked, his voice tinged with skepticism. Roger's eyes met his, and he paused for a moment before replying, "I think that Mr. Kane knows what he's getting himself into.". Don't worry, everyone, I'll be around for a while to help the new CEO and VP get the hang of things before I retire officially." Some female employees were gossiping at the back about what the new CEO looked like. One of them said, "I hope he's tall, fit, and handsome." Another woman said, "I hear he is single and isn't dating anyone." Roger cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. "Y'all, we get to meet the new CEO soon. Mr. Kane and Ms. Gomez should be here right now." As soon as Roger finished that statement, the elevator opened and Marvin and Jennifer walked out of it and towards the conference room. A security guard was at the door and asked to see their credentials. Jennifer and Marvin looked at each other and Marvin replied, "We don't have credentials yet." The guard was unsure about letting them in, but Marvin revealed that he was the new CEO and introduced himself and Jennifer. The guard went inside to confirm their identities. Roger stepped out of the conference room and greeted Marvin with a hug. He then introduced Jennifer to him. Roger escorted them to the main headquarters of the Bash group to introduce them to the workers there. Once they entered the conference room, Roger introduced Marvin and Jennifer to everyone as the new CEO and Vice President of the company. Marvin and Jennifer addressed a doubtful group of employees. Marvin took the lead and stated that they were there to improve the company's performance. He clarified that he wasn't there to make friends, but to make money for the business. He cautioned that there may be layoffs and that he would be reviewing everything closely. He warned that anyone caught doing something inappropriate would be fired. He ended his speech by expressing his belief that the employees could assist him in achieving his objectives. Ms. Gomez was asked if she wanted to add anything, but declined. The meeting ended, and Marvin, Jennifer, and Roger left the conference room. Roger escorted them to a private elevator. The following is the text without any errors: This is the private elevator that will take you from the lobby to the 40th floor where your offices are located. As they entered the private elevator, they saw the employees leaving the meeting. Most of them looked stunned. The group of female employees who were gossiping about Marvin were speechless. The employees were nervous about working for Marvin as he seemed like a ruthless person who wouldn't hesitate to fire someone. One of the employees wondered what his background was as he didn't seem like he was new to this as the rumors said. Another employee said that they hoped that there was nothing wrong with the company as they felt that Marvin would follow through with his threat of firing people. Marvin, Jennifer, and Roger walked into the CEO's large and elegant office. Marvin, as usual, sat in his chair behind his huge desk while Roger and Jennifer sat on two comfortable chairs in front of Marvin's desk. As soon as Marvin sat down, he noticed a note from Justin and two large manila envelopes on his desk. He picked up the note and read it carefully, wondering what it could be about. He was surprised to see that the note only said 'good luck' and 'call me when you get home from work'. Marvin then turned his attention to the envelopes and asked Roger about them. Roger replied that they contained important documents for him and Ms. Gomez. Marvin handed Jennifer the envelope which had her name on it, and then he opened his envelope. Inside, he found a deed to a property, house paperwork, and three vehicle titles. He was stunned and wondered where all of this came from. During a conversation between Roger, Jennifer, and Marvin, Roger revealed that Justin had bought him and Jennifer a house, as well as vehicles, in exchange for taking their place in the company. Marvin was surprised and somewhat taken aback by this news, but he managed to keep his composure. He then asked Roger if there was anything else he needed to know, and Roger handed him another envelope. Jennifer was engrossed in some documents she had received in an envelope. When she asked Roger about her salary, he revealed that it was a whopping five million dollars per month, not including bonuses. This came as a surprise to Jennifer, as Marvin had not informed her of this earlier. Marvin admitted his mistake, apologized to Jennifer for not providing her with the information she needed, and couldn't help but smirk at her. When asked about his salary, Marvin disclosed that he earned twenty million dollars per month, not including other accounts that he had set up at Justin's request. Justin had set up various companies under the main one, resulting in a complex pay structure. Marvin acknowledged that it would take some time for him to get accustomed to his new financial situation.
