Day 12: Lorraine

I woke up to the warmth of Henry's embrace. I remember we agreed that he will stay at the sofa since I have my chicken pox and we're not sure if the vaccine will really protect him from having the virus if we would share the same bed. He can't afford to be absent especially that his company is facing a lot of challenges now. But why is he here?

I smiled at the thought of how much Henry likes to stay beside me even if I know that I smell bad. I have not taken a bath for days now.

Am I really this special? Or does Henry have anosmia? People who have colds usually suffer from a temporary lost of their sense of smell. I heard Henry sneezed quite a lot yesterday.

'My daddy's too workaholic.' I know he still finished some reports last night.

"Daddy..." I said while drawing circles on his chest.

"Hmmmm."

"Don't you have work?"

"Don't want to." His eyes are still closed.

"Oh. I'll just call Manang then to prepare for breakfast." I thought he can't afford to be absent?

"Manang is off for a week."

"Huh?"

"So we'll have our time together."

"Ah."

"Baby can we just sleep some more?" He slightly opened his eyes and looked at me.

"Alright. Let's sleep some more."

"And take a bath later baby huh?Shirley is coming." Henry added.

I only know one Shirley, Henry's cousin who owns a boutique. Why does he have to invite Shirley over?

"Do I smell that bad."

"Yes baby."

"Hmmmmp."

"But it's addictive." He moved his head closer to my armpit that I almost chuckled.

"Why is Shirley coming over by the way?"

"Baby I know how much you wanted to talk to daddy, but can we sleep first? I'm really sleepy." He embraced me tighter and I was left speechless. Why do I have such an adorable husband?

I stayed quiet and just listened to Henry breathing so peacefully.

"Henry, she has chicken pox?! And you wanted me to get her measurements? Common."

"Cousin, can you please lower your voice. This is meant to be a surprise. She might hear us."

"Alright. Alright. But why do you have to marry her again?"

I never meant to eavesdrop but I've heard it. I was planning on bringing juice inside Henry's study and never thought that they are discussing a surprise for me. Henry said Shirley will get my measurement for the dress I'd wear for his company's thanksgiving program but he is planning another thing.

"It's our 11th anniversary."

"But your kids are still missing."

"I know."

"See don't you think this is really part of her plan?"

"What?"

"Look cousin, at first, she married you at 17 so in the future she can get away from you. But now, you'd marry her to make it legal and she'd get all that you have."

Does everyone in Henry's family know of what I did?

"It's not true Shirley."

"What?"

"I didn't find any letters. What I told you was not true so please forget about it."

"What?"

"Just forget about it. I love my wife. I don't want to lose her."

"Whatever you say Henry. I just hope that you'd find happiness."

"Thank you."

"So where is she?"

"She's in our room and maybe I'd just call you again once she's well."

"Good you thought of that. I'll drop by the clinic to get my vaccine too. Never thought that even adults can get chicken pox."

I ran to the living room and turned on the TV and pretended that I didn't hear anything. It was supposed to be a surprise for me but, well things happen.

"Oh, Baby, you're here. Shirley's leaving."

"Oh yeah, Shirley I'm sorry can't get near you."

Shirley laughed and I laughed too. Chicken pox sometimes can really limit what you can do.

"Congratulations Lorraine! We'll I hope you'd love Henry like no other."

"Shirley."

"I'm just telling the truth Henry."

"Don't worry Shirley, I will never ever leave my daddy."

I winked at Henry and saw him blushed. I don't usually call him daddy in front of other people cause it felt awkward before, but who cares now right?

"Geez, you guys are so cheesy calling each other baby and daddy."

"Why don't you get married Shirley so you'd know how it feels! I can introduce Adrian to you. He's a nice guy."

"I don't care. Love will come. I better keep going."

The moment Shirley left, I felt Henry embraced me and started kissing my shoulder blade.

"I like it when you call me daddy."

"Henry, I'm not ready yet."

"But daddy's so ready." I felt his hands inside my blouse and decided to reciprocate his kisses. I miss his hands exploring my world.

"I miss you so much Baby."

"I miss you too Daddy."

"Let's do it in our room baby."

Henry was about to carry me to our room when we heard our doorbell rang. I don't know but I started laughing.

"Why of all time and your laughing at me baby?"

"Coz you sound so disappointed."

"I hate it. Hate it really."

Henry put me down and went to see who the visitor is. I was left looking at our wedding picture in our living room.

'Thank you Lord for giving Henry back. I just pray that you'd bring Dos and Tres too soon.'

Henry went back with some policemen.

"Lorraine, they've got good news!"
