50 Days to His Heart

Day 6: Henry

Straight from the police station where I reported about Lorraine being my primary suspect for kidnapping my children, I went to see Mr. Robinson. His events company will be handling our mobile application launch which is scheduled next week, but unlike our previous launching activities, I won't be hands on this time.

I have not gotten any news about my children and Lorraine too and every day is like a puzzle that I need to solve. I won't be able to concentrate about work or any other things. I want my children back and I want Lorraine in jail.

"Alright then. I'd be communicating with Nathalie from today until the event."

"Thank you William. I just really have to take care of some things."

"I understand Henry. Thanks too for always trusting our company."

"Yes. I better keep going."

"Ah.. yeah... but Henry, ahmmm.. Can I have a minute? This has nothing to do with the event but.. Ahmmm.. I read this magazine and.."

"Oh. That magazine. That's an old issue. My twins just celebrated their 7th birthday in there."

Our family was once featured in a magazine where they do articles about 'successful marriages' and they said, ours is a successful one, being able to keep our marriage strong despite of our busy schedule (as Lorrain and I both manage our respective companies) and our May-December love affair.

I remember Lorraine taking me to the department store before the shoot, and buying me polo shirts and pants, saying that she wanted me to be the most good looking husband featured and even if the magazine will most likely provide my 'outfit' it's different if it would be her choosing my attire.

And right after the shoot, I took Lorraine with me to Hongkong and left the kids with my mom. She didn't like the idea at first but I told her that it was just a way of thanking her for all the polo shirts and pants she bought for me, but in reality, it was a week off from both of our works because I wanted her so much. She didn't know that I have arranged everything with her secretary and even with her clients.

"Ahmm.. Henry, I don't know if this will be too personal for you, but what is the secret to a happy marriage?"

"Are you getting married William?"

"Not at the moment, but you know, I was never a stick to one type of guy but when I met this girl I'm dating, I just see myself saying 'I do'."

So William has not read yet or heard of the news about my wife kidnapping my kids? Perhaps this guy is just overly in love with the woman he is dating and is stuck with an old magazine issue. So what do I tell him? What is really the secret to a happy marriage?

"Well, I guess you just have to be honest with your partner."

"Honest."

"Yeah. I mean tell her everything and don't try to keep secrets."

"Ah.. Yeah. I got that."

"You have to have an open communication and be transparent."

Had Lorraine told me everything before our marriage, I'd still love her. I'd still marry her but she didn't. She waited for me to discover everything myself.

"I just really hope I'd end up like you and your wife soon."

No. You don't like to be in my situation William, mine is a complicated one. I know I still love Lorrain but I don't know where this love will lead me.

"Well, good luck on you then William. I really have to go."

"Thanks Henry. May God bless you."

"Thanks William. I need that."

I know I need God right now  but I don't know where to find Him, where to find my kids, where to find Lorraine.

I'm done with my two meetings and now I'm down to four more. After all these meetings, I'd go back to the investigators and see where their investigation is leading them. They said they saw my kids enter a candy store and after that, no more traces of them.

I'll find time to see the owner later and hopefully, I'd get more details. I know my kids like bubble gums and they'd always play around with Lorraine and make fun of me, placing bubble gums in my shoes but instead of getting mad, I'd run after them and end up playing hide and seek.

Dos (the first born) would go inside my closet while Tres (the second born) would hide in Lorraine's. Lorraine would lock herself with either Dos or Tres and I'd pretend that I didn't see them, order Yellow Cab or Shakeys and make them leave their 'hideouts' run after me and together we'd consume three boxes.

Maybe they bought Bubble gums or maybe Lorraine was inside the store hiding and she took my twins with her.

"Sir, Ms. Vianna is at line 2."

"Thanks Conrad."

Finally. Vianna has called.

"Henry? I've been trying to call you."

"Im sorry. Was in several meetings. Is there any good news?"

"I've found Lorraine."

"Oh."

I don't know what I would feel. I am happy knowing that we've found Lorraine but I don't know what I'd tell her if I'd see her again.

"She's with Adrian."

Who the heck is Adrian? So she has found a new father for my twins that easy? Maybe he is way younger than me, way richer, way more than me.

"Let's meet at Max's SM Manila. Adrian's waiting."

How could Lorraine just replace me right away? I know there could be a chance that she loves somebody else but I am not ready yet to just accept everything. And if Lorraine thinks I'd make her happy with our annulment so she could be with that Adrian, then, I'd withdraw that annulment. I don't want her happy at all.

"I'd be there in 30 minutes."

"Okay. I might be a little late but I'd give you Adrian's number."

"Alright."

"You don't have to worry about Adrian. He is a good man."

A good man to replace me? A better man who will make Lorraine happier?

"I trust you Vianna."

"Yep. He is a good guy from high school."

Could Adrian be Lorraine's first love? I don't care. I wont let them be together again. I may not be Lorraine's first but I'd be her last.
