Passing the test

2627 Words
Diane happily waved at Lana as she had passed the first stage with a way above-average strength. The cold seeped through Lana's bones as she grew nervous despite not showing it on her face. Lana usually acted like the test did not bother her but it was far from the truth. Just like other people Lana hated failing but the fear was not strong enough to stop her from trying. ' mphh…. Phemm' She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and unclench her fist. She took it in slower to her despite being calm to relax her nerves. ' I have done it before ' she chanted in her head. She picked up a 50 kg rock and threw it 368 meters away. She relaxed and repeated the process. Carrying a 200kg rock she flung it 240 meters away. She then picked up a 300kg rock and tossed it 200 meters away. She moved to the weight lifting and lifted a 200 kg rock above her head holding it in place for a while. She moved towards the 300 kg rock and lifted it above her head. Also holding it in place for a while, she moved to the 350kg rock and carried it above her head. After a few seconds, her arm quivered and she placed it down gently. She moved to the final section Punch reader. 567 The readings rose from zero as she threw a punch with her left arm. Using her right arm to throw another punch. 598 punch force it was also higher than that of her left hand. As soon as she was done she moved off the field to where the second stage was being conducted. Lana was also glad her left arm was caught up with her right arm. Lana walked into the next field where she heard her name, turning in the direction of the voice she spotted her best friend. " So how did it go," Diane asked a little bit concerned even though she knew. it would be okay. Lana heard her worry but saw the confidence in her eyes showed how much Diane believed in her. " It was okay and I did not feel sleepy after you left. " " Let's go and stretch for the second test" Diane was stunned " You want to stretch. Are you okay" " Of course " Lana sighed. ' distrust' she thought. " Fine I don't want to feel sleepy you know it has to do with reflexes and speed," Lana said. Diane let out a breath of relief. Both girls stretched their muscles' the time used to conduct the second stage was short. Amper and Janet below the representatives away with their incredible speed running about an average of 15 minutes for 2 kilometres. The next stage was consistency measuring. It had various sections; Energy sensing, Elemental power, consciousness force, An hour flew by and the test had finally been drawn to a satisfying conclusion. The short blond-haired girl was called Raine she had a talent of 174 per cent. Her major would be strength or energy sensing Amper scored a talent of 179, despite his horrible score strength score his consciousness was as amazing as his speed. Janet scored a potential of 178. The school had other talent ranging from 120 to 148. Their speed and elemental power were amazing Sadly their consciousness was average. 189.88 That was a rare talent number, especially in a school located in this region. A genius popping out was amazing but it just had to be Cody he was someone very much aware of how the world worked. His little comment infused with arrogance made sense to Lana after she was informed of the world of realm breakers. Lana had nothing against him though she did not think the other can be said about the other party. He was a classic hero who believes everyone was to bow at his feet. Despite Lana ignoring him, he loved to trouble her. Her guess was he might have been angry since she 'stole' his devoted fan Diane. Before she and Diane became friends. The girl had a huge crush on him but he pretended not to notice. Sadly, After becoming friends Diane seemed to have forgotten about Cody. It might have taken a few weeks of Lana's convincing that being a dumb fan was stupid. It worked and some other of his fans also got an awakening. A person like him becoming a genius was completely cliché but it would fuel his entitled brat outlook on the world. Diane was quite pleased with herself though she was not a genius scoring 162 with her boost being her energy sensing and consciousness being one of the highest in school. Her school of choice was the University of Magic as her dream was to become a Mech rider. The University of Magic had a minor Mech department but it was good enough. Lana had one of the strongest consciousness forces and high elemental power. Lana guessed the reason her consciousness force was high might be the influence of using the Mantra given to her by her parents. Her potential was 168.5. Her choice was also the University of Magic. The lowest score was 102 surpassing the 100 passing rates by 2. These scores shocked the representative. A Low-class Tier E region was filled with poor talent due to a lack of resources only with the occasional dark horses but this school. They suspected they had fed the students with Cent potions. A few students' scores were able to match up to those in tier C to A cities. A list of students was sent to the University whose representatives were unavailable. Whatever offers the student got was their choice. The University of Magic had no representative due to the town's tier which would cause a delay in admission. The University of Mech on the other hand were present and accepted their students. Outside the school premises, a few of the students burst into tears of joy all calling their parents to celebrate or at least a family member. Lana's eyes swelled as she remember she could not even call her parents due to the mission. The home was her next destination event though she heard there was going to be a class celebration such things never interested her. She was thankful the [arty would not be awkward, she Imagined that would have happened if someone had failed the test. Secretly she felt what deserved the most praise was the 100-year disaster rumour that flew around. Her hands held the door knob when her phone rang "rrnng' She picked up the phone and checked the caller. "Diane" She answered the call. " My sweet Ane how are you " Lana flattered. "We had an agreement we would meet at my house to get ready for the four o'clock party. Hurry it is just one o'clock so we have enough time to dress up." Diane was not buying her sweet voice. " Ane am already home, also you know I don't like parties." Lana resisted. or at least tried to. " Not possible, you promised. So Your house or mine and if I come over I will drag you to any other party for a month." ' A month' Lana thought. There was no way she could survive that much partying. " Fine, I am coming" Lana gave in with a heavy heart. She opened the door of her house and walked in. She noticed her greedy neighbour Mary Ann standing not too far. On a whim, Lana decided to pack up all the luggage in the house. She had a feeling Her neighbour might just break in she was looking extremely desperate. She arranged her clothes in the wardrobe and packed them for a 10000 cubic Cosmo ring. She moved her bed into the ring, her shoe rack, her retractable bathtub and the spare ones. The bookshelf confirmed her room was empty except for a few decorations. She moved to the sitting room and packed up a few tables and a single couch. She packed up the dining table and almost all the extra chairs. ' Food' she moved to the kitchen and moved everything including the cooker and whatever was left in the store. ' Off to the basement, ' she thought as she rushed down staircases. The basement was filled with a lot of dark-based plants. The plants were living materials that could not be held in a Cosmo ring. However, it could be held in a pocket dimension but Lana was unable to open it with her little consciousness strength. She could however transport the whole basement into her Cosmo ring. According to her parent, the basement was an independent space completely sealed. It could also contain whatever life in it without leakage. So that would be easy to move. After handling the basement she moved to her parent's room. While it was majorly empty apart from a few pieces of cloth she was sure they would not miss if left behind. Seeing there was nothing to move. She walked out. " Ouch" she screamed as her toe stubbed a loose board. The floorboard was out of place which was weird as Lana knew the rest of the rooms did not use floorboards. She wondered what was going on as she reached out to pull it apart. " What if I destroy the board," she said a little nervous. But she guessed since they were away she could always blame quality. Hidden in the board was a ring. On it was foreign scripts that Lana could not understand. Check it later Lana hurried to put it in her 10000 cube ring " The party " Lana cried out. Thirty minutes had passed, checking her holo comm she noticed it was on silent mode but it had ten missed calls. ' Diane was hopefully going to forgive her she thoughts. " Knock... Knock... Knock." The knock on her door snapped her out of her thoughts " Lana are you home." Chills crawled up Lana's back when she heard her voice. " It is Me " The voice spoke after noticing the house remained quiet. " Am home" Lana replied. ' why is she asking if am home when she saw me ' Lana wondered. "May I be of any help" Mary Ann was well aware of that dislike towards her. " Of course, you could help me" After confirming she was her greedy neighbour, Lana opened the door. Mary Ann pushed her away peering into the house. A smile bloomed on her neighbour's face. " Child did your parents just leave." " Yes" " Oh! And here I thought I could meet with them" She said. Lana felt with her nosiness she probably knew. " Hmm," Lana hummed. " I am sorry about the last time I expected your parents to leave the blueberry seeds with you I gave to them" Now t had become the seed given she had given them Lana remembered the last time she said they brought it for her. " You might have to discuss with them on their next visit., Lana replied. " Right, how was your test " Her face projected a fake concern it irritated Lana. " It was okay" Lana expected her to ask the question she was worried about. " Then your talent score", She asked Finally a personal question. She was probably her to mock her, people like her were annoying pretending to be nice. An honest answer would make her feel ashamed but Lana did not feel like it. She felt generous enough to make her feel good about herself. " Uhmm.. 80 "Lana deliberately whispered. It could be figured by any smart person that she lied since the scores were technically public and no one scored below 100. Still, Lana was proud of her acting skills. She wondered if she should go into acting. " Do not worry everything will be okay. " Mary Ann was so happy she felt like jumping but she exercised self-control. She completely forgot about the blue beery seeds. " Ma'am thank you for caring " Lana gently guided her out of the room. " By the way did they leave with anything just for practice or to help your talent." She did not forget to ask. " Nope, I would have used it already. I will inform them when they are back." Mary Ann felt disappointed and scurried away with the consolation of Lana's poor decision. Lana felt much better pushing her out. Knowing Diane was still waiting she locked her door with the triple lock system since she was not coming home in a few days. Party time yeyy. ' She thought. Diane's home was more lively than hers and colourful. The door steps were filled with plants and all sort of welcome notes. The bungalow was equipped with a garden. Decorated with Lavender. Lana's favourite was Diane's mum. " Lana, dear do come in " Julia called out from the window she stood behind. Her skin was fair with a hint of yellow highlights which seem to glow each time the sun rays hit her skin. It was a healthy colour complemented with her golgolden-coloured that fell just above her shoulder. It was a sharp contrast to Diane's father who had skin so pale one could feel it might become translucent. He sometimes resembled a vampire with his sleek brown hair almost mistaken for black and his deep blue eyes. Lana hurried into the house as she got a whiff of Julia's signature cakes. " Your cake smells delicious ". She stared at the cake eagerly. Julia laughed and handed Lana a hot piece that had just come out. " So I heard you are going to a party. " LanLana'sce sank a bit as she remembered why she was here. " Is Diane forcing you to go again." Julia was well aware of the fact that parties were not Lana's thing and every time they went to one Diane was the pusher. " She says it is good for me and it is the last party we would have together." Lana chomped angrily on her cake sneaked a second piece. 'uhn' her hand felt nothing as she tried to sneak another piece. She looked down and saw nothing the tray was on the other side with Julia n the way. Julia moved the tray away after Lana sneaked a one away. Leaving it there was risking not having any. She should know how much Lana could munch during the months she stayed with them she devoured cakes for 30 people in three days and that was because she rationed it. " LANA " Diane called from her room. " Hurry in " Julia pushed her towards Diane's room. To Lana Julia was like her mother, she always took care of her whenever she could. The last time her babysitter quit she had her move in with them. " Also don't go back home just stay here, I am going to miss both of you." Lana also knew she would miss her a lot. Julia went out with the remaining cake after leaving some for Diane and Lana. Lana wondered why she was so cool with Diane taking her out. Julia was more worried on the negative influence bad crew would have on Diane and was scared she would pull Lana Into it too. So she would always collect the name of these they were out to meet and where they were headed to. Just to check in if they had such reservation or to call in mid event.
