Chapter 2

After Niah brought the books and all that should be done in town she decided to go back. when she arrived Niah was called by the head maid.

After meeting the head maid she was told that she had to go to the capital together with lady Ella who needs to attend the coming grand ball helds by the royal families weeks before the emperor and future empress wedding. they'll leave in two days so there's a lot of things they need to do.

At first she wanted to say that she cannot come with the lady to the capital as she'll be getting married next month. but the head maid made it clear and assured her that she'll only stay in the capital for two weeks, and hearing that Niah was relieved and agreed with the head maid's decision.

After talking to the head maid Niah immediately went to Samuel's room because at this time she knew that Samuel is taking a rest in his room.

" Samuel, are you still awake? " she said after knocking the door.

"Yes! Wait a second." Samuel's response.

A few seconds later she saw the door opened and saw Samuel wearing a pair of pajamas, and he seems to be getting ready to sleeps.

" Niah! Is there something wrong? "

Samuel asked her and opened the door wide for her to come inside.

" uhmmm." she response and nod her head to him, after sitting down in his bed

" What it is, just tell me Niah. " Samuel said and sat beside her.

" The lady will be leaving two days from now to attend the grand ball held by the royal families weeks before the emperor's wedding in the capital. and the head maid told me that I have to go with the lady."

she said slowly without looking at Samuel's face and just stared at her hands in her knees.

" How long do you need to stay in the capital? " Samuel asks after understanding the whole situation.

"don't worry, the lady and I would only stay in the capital. for two weeks we would definitely come back before our wedding date." Niah looked up and immediately explained to Samuel, fearing that he would be sad and think that she couldn't come back before their wedding.

seeing her anxious face, Samuel couldn't help but fix her hair that was out of place and put it in the back of her ear, laugh at her and said.

" why? are you worried that I'll be sad after you go to the capital? "

" So you wouldn't be sad if I'm gone for two weeks huh! then i won't come back here, uhmp! " she said, turning her back to Samuel pretending to be angry.

Knowing that she's pretending Samuel hugs her back, he kiss her temple and whispers to her.

" Is my Niah angry with me? it is not that I wouldn't miss you and wouldn't be sad. But as you said you'll be back before our wedding date and we don't have that much choice as the lady needs you in the capital."

"uhmmm, so don't flirt with other maids while I'm gone. If I happen to know what you did while I'm in the capital I'll never come back here."

she said jokingly and leaned to Samuel's chest.

" Who would I be flirting with if i have the most beautiful woman in the empire in my arms?"

'Not you, But how about the other maids who have eyes on you. '

hearing what Samuel said to her, she couldn't help but think to herself. it is not that she doesn't trust Samuel it just that Samuel is handsome and a nice man that every woman would wish to have him as their husband.

And it's not a secret that some maids in the Viscount mansion have a crush on Samuel, but since they know that she and Samuel are in a relationship some maids in the mansion give up, but there's some who didn't and continue to show their interests to him. But since Samuel doesn't give any meaning to their action, he doesn't know that they are interested to him. Thats why she's a little scared to leave his for a long time.

—------ Just like that time flies and it is the day they'll leave to go to the capital.

all the things they need to bring to the capital had already been put in the carriages, they were only waiting for the lady to come outside.

While waiting Zephaniah turned her head, and there she saw Samuel standing under the tree smiling and when he saw that she's looking in his direction. He waved to her, seeing what he did Niah couldn't help but made a small gesture to waved back to him in a place where no one would see.

When the lady arrived she helps her to get inside after lady Ella entered the carriage, She also went inside as she'll be riding the carriage together with lady Ella.

After everything is settled the carriage started to leave the Viscount mansion and to go to the capital.

from the Viscount mansion to the capital it would take them three days as they have to make a stop for the Viscount family to eat and also to take a rest.

After three days of traveling they have reached the gate of the capital city.

Zephaniah could see from a far a variety of carriages some were beautiful, some are normal carriages. And from the look of it a lot of noble families have come to the capital just to attend the grand ball held by the royal families. And since it rarely happens that the royal families held a grand ball inviting all noble families in the empire. So even small noble families who don't have enough money to travel and buy a new dress sell some of their property just to attend the ball. and From the look of it all noble families give importance to the coming grand ball.

"It looks like it would take time for us to enter the capital."

Lady Ella sighs as she looks at the long line of carriage that wants enters the city gate.

"Are you feeling bored my lady, maybe you can read a book while waiting for our turn." She said to lady ella when she heard her sighed.

hearing her lady ella looked in her direction and saw her holding her favorite books.

Lady Ella looked at the book in her hand then to her face as if thinking something fun. Lady Ella smiled at her and said something that scared the hell out of her soul.

"Wanna come with me to the grand ball that will be held three days from now?"

"My lady, I'm not a noble lady like you. I couldn't possibly attend the ball with you."

She immediately rejected the lady's suggestion, scared that the lady would do what she really said.

" HaHaHa! no one would even know that you're not a noble lady, and besides not all noble families are rich to hire a private tutor to teach etiquette to their children, So you don't have to worry if you're worried that you don't know any etiquette."

Lady Ella laughingly said to her as if reding what's in her mind.

"It's still a No my lady, if the Viscount knew about your plan, he would definitely ground you for a month."

Zephaniah instantly rejects any idea the lady has in her mind. And remind her that the Viscount wouldn't spare her if he happened to know it.

" No one would know, it would just you and me, really!" the lady said looking at her with puppy eyes.

" Even though I still wouldn't do it. " Niah continue to rejected the lady.

Beacuse it's not a 100% sure that no one would discover her. Because a noble lady can disguise as a commoner, but a commoner can't disguise as a noble.

That's why even though she is tempted to agree with Lady Ella's idea she still rejects it as she knows it's impossible to happen

"sigh!"

Ella only sighed as she knew that she couldn't change Niah's mind, couldn't help but look at the window but had regret as to why Zephaniah is born as a commoner.

A few hours later it was finally their turn to enter the capital, the guard only asked some details such as the family name and purpose of their visits. After confirming their identity they were allowed to enter the capital.

"It seems like the capital is stricter than before." The lady said after they entered the capital.

"Maybe because a lot of nobles have come to the capital, my lady." Niah guessed.

From the city gates to the Viscount mansion in the capital it took them a few hours before they arrived because it was quite far from the city gate.

On the way to the Viscount mansion Zephaniah couldn't help but be amazed as she look in the window of the carriage. because it was a lot beautiful that the South City, people here in the capital is busy walking, some entered a luxury store, some just stop a few seconds to look at a certain window of some stores and continue to walk again. She also saw some lady who wore a beautiful dress that she hadn't seen in the south.

Zephaniah was overwhelmed and couldn't help but compare life in the south and the capital. because it was a lot different, it must be the reason why a lot of wealthy nobles want to live here in the capital than live outside the capital.

When they arrived at the Viscount manscapihere in the capital Zephaniah still couldn't move on from what she had seen, while she helps the maids to put lady Ella things in her room.

After everything has been settled the next day she's serving lady Ella some tea , after serving she stand in the corner waiting for the lady next order.

After sipping the tea Zephaniah serve to her Ella couldn't help but look at Niah's places and continue their conversation in the carriage to persuade Zephaniah.

" Aren't you really going to change your decision?"

" It's still a No my lady." Niah said after understanding what the lady asking her.

"Come on Niah, just once okay, I promise after this I won't ask you to do anything again." she said still not giving up in convincing Niah to agree.

"what if some people notice and strats to ask me?"

Niah asks lady Ella because she knew that it was impossible that no one would notice her and ask of her family background. Since it's a ball where nobles interact and would make connections to each other. And this is what she remember when the lady once told her about one of her experiences at the ball in the capital.

"don't worry, you could just said that you're a distant relative of Viscount Bail. after they hear it they wouldn't ask you questions about your family."

"So you agree to attend the ball?"

Ella asks with joy in her voice, knowing full well that Niah doesn't have any reason to reject her.

"would you stop if i don't agree?" Niah asks, giving up to lady Ella's persuasion.

Since she knew how hard the lady can be when she wants something. She'll just hide at some place and wait for the ball to end to went back home. thinking of this plan Niah ease some of her worry.

"No! I wouldn't " Ella responds to Niah questions. knowing that Niah couldn't reject her anymore.

"We should start choosing what you'll wear at the ball since we don't have much time left."

Ella excitedly said to her, she then stood up and went to her wardrobes and started looking for a dress that would fit Niah's, Since they only have two days left before the ball.

looking at her excited back Niah couldn't help but sigh helplessly to lady Ella.

—----- After hours of looking, Ella found a gown that would definitely fit Niah.

seeing the gown the lady holding Niah resigned to her fate, wears the gown to see if it is fit or not. but luckily since she and lady Ella have the same build the gown fit really well to her body.

it was a gown lady Ella brought a couple months ago so it didn't look old and out of fashion.

It is a simple light green off shoulder ball gown, with tiny white Jewels on it, making the gown beautiful and made the gown have a shimmer effect.

Seeing Niah wearing the gown Ella couldn't help but be amazed by Niah's look. Because when ella wore that dress she's not happy and regrets why she brought that dress, As it didn't enhance her beauty and since it's a green colored dress. It's really hard to find someone who'll look beautiful while wearing it. But to her surprise Niah looked so much beautiful in the gown even without putting a make up.

"Oh my god! Niah you looked so beautiful in this dress, if you'd wear this dress no one would definitely doubt that you're not a noble, cause you're really beautiful."

Ella repeatedly praise Niah beauty, feeling proud to herself for having a good eyes.

Hearing the lady praising her Niah couldn't say anything and just blushed as she saw herself in the mirror.

it is just as the lady Ella said. She looked beautiful wearing the gown that the lady chose. When she saw herself in the mirror at first she doubts if she's not seeing things because looking at her own reflection she does look like the daughter of some noble not a commoner.

Since the color of the gown complements her green eyes, and also makes her white skin become whiter. The gown also shows all her curves making her more stunning.

After deciding on the gown Niah will wear at the ball, Ella also let Niah try some shoes that would go well in the dress and give Niah a set of jewelry she'll wear at the ball. By the time they were done choosing and trying everything it is already time for dinner.

—-----For the past two days Niah was busy as she helps the lady choose the gown she'll wear at the ball. and also during those two days Young master Allen visits the lady. Because it's been a couple of months since they saw each other, the couple also sometimes went on dates in those two days. Even though lady Ella and young master Allen relationship start in arrangement they still get along with each other as a normal couple.

after helping lady Ella get ready for the ball. Niah thinks of some excuses to leave the mansion. because no one should know lady Ella plans. Thats why lady Ella decided that she would rent a room outside, for her to get changed and fix herself. The lady also rented a carriage for her, because the lady cannot fetch her. So it was decided that they would meet outside the palace so people wouldn't notice. And also because of that young master Allen would pick lady Ella and go to the palace together.

After getting herself ready. Niah takes one last look of herself in the mirror before deciding to leave the inn.

On the way to the Palace Niah couldn't help but worry because this is the first time she'll be doing this. it might not be the first time she'll dress as a noble lady but this is her first time attending an occasion and it happens to be the grand ball held by the royal families.

So just imagine her fear while riding the carriage on the way to the palaces. both of her hands was wet and she keeps glancing the window to look if they have arrived or not. She even thought of going back but thinking the lady threat that if she didn't go, she'll make sure that they'll stay in the capital for one month so she wouldn't be home before her wedding day. Even though she knew that the lady is only joking and won't really do it. but still she know that the lady would make her do something, and she doesn't want that to happen.

A few minutes later the carriage stop and the driver said to her that they had arrived outside the palace gate.

Zephaniah hearts rise quickly not because of excitement but because of fears.

fears of being discovered by someone.

After coming down the carriage Niah doesn't know what to do next she just keeps standing in one place without moving and looking around.

She doesn't even notice that all people around her keep staring and looking back at her, wondering who she is and from where family she's from. it wasn't until Niah heard lady Ella's voice in her left side that she somehow move her body to look in the direction of the voice.

" Niah! here!" Ella shouted when she saw Niah stupidly standing without moving in her place after she came down the carriage.

When people around them heard her Shouting, they looking at Ella's direction wondering who's this lady that have a big heart to shout at the palace premises.

And when people who knew her, saw that it was her they turned their head and continued to walk to enter the palace as if it was a normal occurrence, and nothing happened. Some nobles who didn't know her were astonished because of her courage, but some people looked down at her because she was shouting in the entrance of the Palaces acting like a person without etiquette.

Seeing things happen Allen couldn't help but shake his head to Ella. It's not like it is the first time it happened because everytime Ella get carried away of her feelings she always forgot to act as a lady.

Ans Since Ella is a free-spirited lady and doesn't mind what other people think of her, Thats why a lot of noble families in the capital know her and everytime Ella act like this they just let her be because whatever they say doesn't affect Ella and they just tire themselves. Even her father Viscount Bail have tried to remind her manners but give up as Ella didn't change. But those traits are what he finds charming and like about her.

Seeing that Ella is looking at some direction Allen looked to she who's she looking,

But Allen was stunned when he saw a beautiful maiden wearing a green gown, walking in their direction.

Allen only comes to his senses when the lady stops in front of them smile and greet Ella.

"Lady Ella, how are you?"

Niah greeted the lady as what she and lady ella have practice.

Seeing Niah's up close and the way Niah greeted her, Ella couldn't help but feeling proud as she was the one who planned this and teach Niah what she should do.

" Who?"

Allen couldn't help himself but ask Ella because he had never seen Ella's together with the newcomer lady before, so he assume that Ella meet the lady after she stayed in the south.

" Oh my bad! she's my distant cousin in the south Zephaniah Bail, Niah this Allen Welsh my Finance." Ella introduced Niah to Allen as her cousin,

When Zephaniah heard her, she looked at Allen and smiled in his direction and greet him.

"Hello! young master allen"

After looking at young master Allen's face she looked back at lady Ella's direction. But what she saw was her lady having fun looking her and young master Allen reaction.

When Ella noticed her stare she wink at her.

Seeing it Niah couldn't help but twitch the corner of her lips.

'The lady sure is enjoying it.'

"oh! Hello, my lady I'm Allen Welsh" Allen formally greeted Niah, knowing it was a distant relative of Ella.

"Should we get inside now? " Ella said after the two got to know each other's names.
