Chapter 9:

Jayden : The past three days turned out to be, unexpectedly hectic, with meetings after meetings, we were putting out fires everywhere in south America. I had to keep the guys from Europe for three days, because I was too damn busy. I finally wrapped up the meeting with them and decided to look into the hotel . It was the newest addition to our hotel fleet. I decided to look into it's operations and how efficiently it fits into our plans. so far, so good. The staff don't know who we are, or that we are the owners. The manager for our entire floor has a crush on me. She is very subtle about it though, with little brushes here and there. Her blonde hair though, ensured she wasn't considered as a viable option, for my bride. As a chronic workaholic, I decided to meet with a local crew here in Phoenix, that had been allied with us for over twenty years. They have never been given the opportunity to move up within the ranks. I decided to personally vet them since I was here. They were up for quadrennial vetting anyways. They were too small to be considered for the regular monthly and annual vetting and audit. I had two big groups breathing down my neck, with requests to take over this part of Phoenix. The crew called the lethal crew, arrived. Led by their leader Craig and about five others. This was just an initial meeting, the crew was a very small group, they had just about twelve members. The meeting didn't last long since it was just an introduction to the group's leader and hierarchy. We decided to set up a longer meeting for tomorrow. I needed some time to rest after a hectic day. On the surface, it looked like Lethal was clean, consistent, committed and disciplined. But our background checks were wide and thorough. They were skimming of on other things and making more money than they should. They even ran a loan company on the side with some of their shipments. Their leader Craig is really invested in expanding and improving his profits, with us. But Clandestine operations in headquarters have recommended red hot exile. Now that, is a job for the monks, after security had cleared their file. But since I'm here, I would like to hear and see things for myself. The plan for tomorrow, is to skim through their modus Operandi, find out why and how they were flagged in the first place. If I think there is anything to salvage, then I'll take a look at their capacity and their potential for expansion, before ordering another check and asking that the crew be vetted afresh. Jonah and I were walking out to the lobby on our floor, with Craig and his men, when I saw her for the first time. Her laughter was the first thing I knew about her. It was a beautiful sound that made my heart pound. But it was cut short the moment she sensed our presence. Then she pushed the guy blocking my view of her out of the way, and rushed towards us. She didn't spare me a glance, as she quickly took the briefcase styled laptop bags from the other three guys with Craig and his second in command Julio. Then she made a beeline for the elevators. The others she had been talking with, now also wore serious expressions as we approached. She was dressed in oversized joggers that did nothing for her figure, a hoodie that was two sizes too big and oversized white Crocs for shoes. Wow...Tomboy Inc. I didn't like her clothes, I hated them. She seemed like a meek submissive female. But I sensed that it was all an act, to show respect. The feeling of floating on a dark cloud filled with stars, just from briefly being in her presence, alone was intoxicating. I got excited, just at the thought of experiencing her feisty nature, and whatever else she was hiding. I was doubly sure, she is a feisty Tomboy female. But I didn't see much of her. The only thing I could say for sure is, I got a good view of her face when she pushed some guy out of her way to take the bags from the men, with Craig. My breath hitched and my heart raced at the sight of her face. she has a very pretty face, it was heart shaped and without make up. Her calamine pink lips were pressed together as she tried to show her obedience. Epic fail. I could instantly sense that this was foreign to her. And when she took a breath, her bow shaped lips, that fitted perfectly with her straight petite nose. It seemed like she was trying to stay hidden, she wanted to be invincible but still get the job done. I made it a point to watch them get into their respective cars. She was young really young. I thought to myself. I watched her get in the driver's seat of one of the cars and wait patiently as a driver should. The car was a Hyundai SUV, and two of the guys from the meeting got in the backseat, before she pulled out of the hotel's driveway and into the traffic. I quickly turned on my heels an hurried back to my suite. "Kozlov I need a background check on the hoodie girl, pronto. No, not pronto, I need it last week." I ordered . "You'll get it Uno." came his instant reply. But I was already belting out another order, this time for Jonah. "Jonah, call Craig and tell him to bring hoodie girl with him tomorrow, and she should wear human clothes, not those oversized bags." "Okay." he simply said then moved some steps away from me to make the call. "Uno, the Call's done, but if you don't mind me asking, what is going on ?" He asked when he returned. "I really can't say until I talk to her. let's hit the club tonight." I say to Jonah. " But the truth is I was excited for this one and I didn't want to jinx it. My instincts were screaming at me that she is the one, the perfect bride I had been searching for. But of course, I was sceptical. The guys had suggested we go out for a night of clubbing, we really needed to let off some stream, after insane three days we'd just had. Women fell all over themselves for me, it was normal. I ticked all their boxes Badboy vibes, mysterious, handsome and sexy, strong build and a body to die for. Then there is the matter of money. Wealthy people don't need to throw cash around, because even the most obtuse person can sense when you're in the two percent population that have too much money they don't know what to do with it. Most of, they could sense that I was important and powerful. Knowing my name or who I was, was inconsequential. As I sat down with my drink, ignoring the female population, desperate for me. I let myself remember her face, it was a pretty striking face, almost aristocratic, but with the stubborn tilt to her chin. The corners of my lips quirked in an almost smile. She definitely has a stubborn streak.
