***** Chapter 12: Arianna's pov... Curiosity, did kill the cat. I know Craig was being vague on purpose, why else would he interrogate me. Oh God, I hate going in blind and unprepared, I wished like hell, I knew what was going on. We arrived at the Regent Boulevard hotel about fifteen minutes before the meeting slated for eleven am. My eyes were a little heavy from the lack of sleep, the coffee Lina, had given me was working hard at keeping me awake. When we entered the hotel lobby area, I didn't see or notice anyone that looked like the Uno's men. I shrugged and decided to go join the guys in the reception. "Ariana Miles?" I turned as I heard someone call my name. The man was tall and fairly good looking. His tattoos and strong jaw suggested that he was a dangerous guy. I looked to Craig who was in the vip side of the Lobby, he nodded for me to answer. "yes that's me." "The Uno would like to have a word with you, come with me." He said in a condescending British accent. But I paid him no mind, this was definitely some serious s****y business. No wonder Craig was on edge. And talking about the wicked oaf, he nodded again. I silently hurried after the man who'd not bothered to wait for an answer. He didn't even wait to see if I was following right behind him. I raced after him and just managed to catch up with him before the elevator door closed shut. "jerk." I said mouthing the words with my head bent down. I couldn't risk a reprimand from the Uno and Craig. It's just not worth it. I stole a glance at the man and he was watching me from the other side of the small metal box. The smirk on his face slowly turned into a smile, a small one. This totally confused me. "Let me introduce myself, I am Kozlov." Odd name, why would he have a Russian name, or why was he Russian, when he sounded like a British prince. The thought raced through my mind, just as it occurred to me to try and plead my way out of seeing the Uno. I didn't want the hassle, Craig would be all out for me. "Please, you have to know, I didn't do anything, I don't even know what goes on in the crew, so there's.." "Don't worry you're not in any sort of trouble." My brows furrowed, more mystery. He wasn't going to let me go or tell why the Uno wanted to see me. I sighed as it dawned on me, he just said not to worry, to help me calm down. But I worry more when you tell me not to worry. In fact I am more on edge now. I have seen too many Russian spy movies, and this Koz guy has not inspired confidence in me. The he chuckled, Goddd he chuckled. Wow , suddenly the dangerous looking man, now looked like someone who could pass for my cousin. Not that I would know how cousins look, seeing as I don't have any. The Elevators stopped and we got out just as I realised, I had been too distracted by my paralysing fear, that I hadn't noticed what floor we'd stopped at. This is Bad Ari, this is really bad. I thought shivering in irritation at my lack of attentiveness. I straightened my spine and followed him. He led me into a mid sized office, it wasn't as big or grand as Craig's, but it was beautiful and comfy and expensive looking. An entire wall made of glass, over looked the hotel's park with a huge man made lake. The lake had some beautiful swans and other birds around it. A tall man was standing on one side of the glass wall looking out at the park. His presence was intense, it that drew me in, even with his back to me. My palms instantly began to sweat, I felt totally intimidating by him. I gulped hard, my heart raced. That is the Uno, it had to be him. He was tall and imposing. I know the Uno is a very handsome man, but he is also a cold ruthless freak. Everyone that is important in the mafia world owes this man and his family something. I might not know much and people exaggerate alot, but sometimes talk is actually true. Everyone and anyone in the mafia knows and steers clear of the Marchetti's, except you have business. And even then everyone still threads carefully. I have also heard that with the Marchetti's, no matter who you are, if you get on their wrong side they will make you will pay. They do not forgive, they never let things go. But most importantly, you'll never see them coming, no matter how much you watch and wait. You will never see them coming. The man's Navy blue suit seems to be sculpted to his body. My eyes roamed over his tall frame, I noticed his well defined calf, strong strong thighs and a well rounded butt. This is the definition of a man, he wasn't some scrawny teenager, that is just beginning to fill out. D*mn it Ari, keep it together, this man is way too dangerous for you, stay away. I lectured myself. I was so engrossed in him, that I didn't notice or know when koz left me the office, leaving me alone with him. Of course he would leave me alone, he'd told me the Uno wanted to speak to me. But what was this about? "Take a seat Miss Miles." The man said, his back still to me. His voice sweet, hard and thunderous all at the same time. His right hand was casually in his pocket, but I couldn't tell what his other hand was doing, from where I was standing. I looked at the vacant seats and took the one farthest away from the desk. Then he turned to face me and I completely forgot to breath. I had seen a grainy old picture of him some years ago and the ten year old me had fallen in love. He was my first crush until I grew a pair. But looking at him now I realised he looked a hundred times better in person, the picture didn't do him justice. Although his face was stoic, his cold expressionless blue eyes were rivetingly beautiful. It was like they were holding me captive and I just couldn't get away. I felt frozen in place. His hair was slicked back, like he'd just ran a comb through it. But I knew better. It'd been set in place that way. He moved in a way that eluded to the power he wielded. The hand made suit was molded to his body and glided in tandem with his movements. He wore a stark white work shirt and it looked dapper against his Navy blue suit. He moved behind the desk and sat down, his tall frame covering the swivel chair. "Miss miles, I am Jayden Marchetti." He said without offering a hand or anything. He said it simply, arrogantly. He was done with the introductions. He is a Power drunk Jerk, ofcourse. I scoffed inwardly. "I didn't call you in to talk about your crew and their dealings. I however do have a proposal for you." "But before we go any further, you need to know and agree that whatever we discuss cannot leave this room." I nodded my head in understanding. "You will need to sign a non disclosure agreement." He said before handing me two sheets of paper clipped together. I quickly skimmed through the agreement and signed the Nda. "Miss Miles, there is an issue that needs fixing and you have come up as a possible candidate to fix the issue." He said plainly. I stared at him in my near paralysed state, because there is no f*cking way, I could help him. He took another pause, and I nodded slightly to let him know I was following, I am not obtuse. "I need a wife and I have a marriage proposal for you, Miss miles ." He said. " Uh-Uhm I don't know how to help, I-I just organise parties." I said nervously, needing him to understand that whatever mode he wants to use, to get me talking won't work. He said nothing, handed me some papers and said " I need you to read through. Do not skim through, then think hard about what you want. When I get back from the meeting, we can talk about additions, questions, concerns or any reservations you might have." "Someone would be right outside the door, if you need anything else." He said as he made his way out the door. He needs a wife ?!!! How the heck am I supposed to help him with that? What's the advantage in looking like a s*x god, if you're looking for a wife. I wondered, staring at the spot he'd just vacated, in shock. I was utterly speechless. A marriage proposal??!! What. The. Effing. F**k !!
