CHAPTER TWO

“Hello, Maika.” The voice that had begun to sound familiar brought an unconscious smile to my lips, but I quickly morphed it into a frown. He was hell bent on causing issues for me. Though I liked him, I was beginning to harbor feelings for him, I could not risk it. Ever since I stepped my feet into this pack, I’d been seeing hell. My so-called husband treated me as nothing less than a slave who satisfied him sexually. He turned me to his personal maid. I could not complain, no one would listen. Even the other wives he married were not making life easier for me as well. For some reason, they all seem to be against me, especially the last wife before me — Fyon. Fyon treated me like she had something personal with me. I could not understand why she hated me with so much passion and was always threatening me to stay away from the Alpha’s son, who was presently standing before me as I did the Alpha’s laundry. “Good day, Zukka.” I bowed in greeting. “How many times have I told you not to bow to greet me?” He walked closer. He was so handsome; his hair was a darker shade of brown, and his grey eyes resembled a stormy day. Staring into his eyes felt like I was drowning into a storm. I sighed and looked away, he raised my chin and gazed deep into my own boring brown orbs. “You’re beautiful, Maika.” Feeling very coy, I pulled my chin from his grasp and concentrated on my laundry. The place was quiet, we were the only two persons. He took the clothes out if my hands. Unable to help myself, I stared into his eyes once again, for some strange reason, he reminded me of Keagan but I knew somehow that my feelings for him had nothing to do with Keagan. “I really like you, Maika. I’m deeply attracted to you.” He softly said, his eyes tracing the length of my lips, my breath hitched as though it was his mouth that was doing the job. “W-what a-about your father?” I stuttered, my brain was a mild scramble from how near he was to me. “I don’t care about him. Do you?” He asked, his eyes were suggestive enough. I knew I was supposed to do the right thing and reject, but I couldn’t. Not when his eyes bore into mine with such tingling intensity that left me without words, my tongue almost swallowed into my throat. “Do you object?” He asked again. I knew what he meant and the right, practical answer was no but I couldn’t. Unconsciously, I licked my lips and I saw his wolf flashed. Without further ado, he bent his head and took my lips in a gentle kiss. The contact prickled my skin in excitement that I forgot all about being careful and enjoyed the lip locking with him. I did not know how long we stood there, but I no longer cared as I let out a moan, pressing my body into his and matching him passion for passion, want for want. His hands caressed and trailed every part of my body, leaving heat in their wake. When he finally pulled away, I was breathless and I saw he was too. The kiss had rocked us both. “I want you, Maika.” He whispered close to my ear, sending shivers down my neck. I gulped. I wanted him too but I couldn’t get the words out, my body was aching for his touch. It wanted more of him. “And from the way your body is responding, you want me too, am I right?” He nibbled my ear. An involuntary moan escaped from my lips. “Y-yes.” I could not even recognize my own voice. “I’ll come to you later, Maika, and when I do, please let your heart lead you.” He said and gave me an affectionate kiss on my forehead and left. It had been a pleasure to be with Zukka. I knew I was not going to be able to resist him when he came. He was just… “Well, well, well” My spine stiffened at the voice. It was also familiar but not as welcoming as Zukka’s. Fyon. I did not raise my head, I kept it down and focused on my laundry. I knew it was her. “Pretending you’re not seeing me, Maika?” She walked closer. The hatred and irritation dripped from her words. Reluctantly, I looked at her. “Good day, Fyon.” “What was Zukka doing here?” She asked, her icy blue eyes daring me to lie. I averted my gaze. “He just came to greet me, nothing more.” She walked closer, and gripped the front of my gown, vehemently tugging hard. “How many times have I told you to stay away from him?” “B-but I did not do anything with him.” I tried to defend myself by lying. I was no match for Fyon or any of the other Lunas. I try to keep my distance since they didn’t like me. “You slave! Know your place, Zukka is mine.” She seethed, her hold of my gown tightening. Whenever she saw me with Zukka, she hated it. She hated it more when Zukka ignored her, and paid attention to me. But it was not my fault. The other Lunas hated me because they felt the Alpha was paying more attention to me. I wished they would understand. I’d love to trade places with any of them. “Stop calling me a slave, Fyon.” I told her. She always called me a slave and it made me feel bad. “How dare you talk back at me?” She sneered in derision. “But I did not…” Before I could finish my statement, she had drenched me with the water I was using to rinse the Alpha’s clothes. In that instant, tears fell from my eyes. What had I done to Fyon? Why would she not let me be? “I will deal with you, Maika.” She threatened, walking closer. “By the time I am done with you, you’ll hate your life.” She stormed off. Without a word, I picked the clothes that had spilled with the ground with the water and be gan the washing process all over again.
