Julia's POV
I suddenly jolted awake as I remembered every single detail of my nightmare.
When were the dreams going to stop? I sat up in my bed, pouring sweat from my whole body. I hadn't had any nightmares in about a year now, and suddenly, they started back.
There had to be something I could do to try to sleep. Maybe I should contact Fiona to see if she could conjure up something to help me sleep but not leave me with any crazy side effects.
Fiona was a witch I had met not long after I got to New York.
She lived just right outside of the city and liled to keep to herself.
I'll contact her when I get home from work.
I managed to catch my breath and practice my breathing techniques my therapist taught me.
Slowly, I stepped out of bed to make my way to the bathroom and realized that I was slightly dizzy from last night's trip to the club.
Everything started coming back to me last night; I remembered him.
"Elijah was at the club," I said to myself as I made my way into the bathroom.
I took a quick shower, got ready for my first day of work, and made my way downstairs to come face to face with a handsome man sitting at the bar in the kitchen.
I looked away, blushing as I noticed he was only wearing a pair of grey sweatpants. I could see the bulge in his crotch.
It was the bartender last night from the club. Cat, you sly little devil, I thought as I laughed to myself.
"Good morning, Cat around," I asked while I made myself some breakfast to go. I didn't want to be late for my first day at work.
I was so nervous after thinking about last night that I thought about faking sick.
I guess it wouldn't be pretending if you had a hangover, right, I smirked as I pondered to myself.
"Yeah, she's in the shower; she should be down soon," he said with his deep, manly tone.
"My name is Julia, and I apologize for last night if I got out of hand. I don't usually go out," I told him as I made my coffee.
"The name's John; I think the gentleman there with you last night handled you pretty well," he snickered as he got up to head back upstairs.
Who is he referring to, gentlemen?
Was he talking about Elijah?
There is no telling what came out of my mouth last night. I was sure nervous now about facing him.
Shake it off, Jules, you got this.
I pulled up to the office at 9:30. I was early and wanted to get a feel for everything and learn my way around.
Making my way to the elevators and up to the top floor, it hit me that I had no idea where I was going.
I don't have an office yet.
Today was my first day, and I already looked like an i***t trying to find my way around like a lost kid.
I stepped off the elevator and walked to the double doors separating me from Elijah's office.
His scent hit me like a Mac truck.
I knew he was probably sitting at his desk, working on something. I didn't want to interrupt him, but I needed to know where my office was and see what today's tasks were.
Tapping ever so slightly hoping he would hear it but at the same time afraid he would be mad, I waited for him to reply.
"Come in!!" he shouted louder than I thought he would, startling me for a moment.
I stepped in as I glanced up and noticed him sitting at his desk, looking over some essential papers I assumed with his brows furrowed, deep in thought.
"Good morning, sir. Is there anything I can get for you this morning? Also, do you happen to know where my office is?" I softly asked as I watched him look up from his papers, taking the cup of coffee I had made for him before walking in.
"Your office is being renovated at the moment, so you will share an office with me. Is that a problem? Also, what did I tell you about calling me sir or anything else besides Elijah?" he spoke in his stern voice to me almost as if I was a child being scorned.
I couldn't help but wonder if he was angry with me from last night. I looked over to my left at my makeshift desk fashionably set up for an assistant.
Not letting his authoritative and dominating voice bother me, I cleared my throat and started to walk to my desk, answering him in the most sarcastic tone, "NO problem, at all."
I could hear him sigh as a low growl slipped out and muttered under his breath, something I couldn't understand.
Men, ugh, I thought as I sat down and started going through a stack of files on my desk, sorting them alphabetically.

Elijah's POV from the night before
I couldn't quit thinking about her ever since the interview that morning and when I ran into her coming out of the market.
It had to be the Moon Goddess's way of telling me to stop being a fool and mark, mate her, and claim her as yours.
I could tell something was different about her, not because she was my mate, but because it was something hidden and painful.
I just didn't know how she felt about me.
What if she didn't even want a mate?
She looked like she was very well into her career and didn't need any other distractions.
"f**k it. I'm going to go for it," I told myself as I made my way through the packhouse and up to my room.
I hadn't told my parents yet that I had found her because I know how ready my mom was to have grand pups.
I mean, my three younger brothers had done found their mate all at age eighteen; each had a pup a piece, and here I was twenty-one years old and didn't even have a mate.
My sister, Evelyn, and the youngest of us all didn't have a mate, so I wasn't alone in that aspect of my family.
I decided to go into the city tonight with my Beta, Samuel.
His mate had just had their first pup a few months back; he needed a man's night away.
We decided to hit up a bar that wasn't too far from the office. We made our way through the streets as we stumbled across the club that was always open 24-7.
"I love this place," Sam slapped me on the shoulder, pointing to the Neon signs, lighting up the entrance.
I was never much of a club person, but since it was Sam's night, he got to pick.
This was going to be a long night, I sighed, rubbing my hands up and down my face. I hated the thought of being packed in there watching the women dry humping the air and the men were just as bad.
I never had time to go out with my friends because I was still trying to get stuff finished or help my father out with the Alpha and pack responsibilities.
I liked to drink at the bar down the street from the office, The Late Night Tavern, whenever I was having a bad day and didn't want to face my father's wrath when I got home.
We were nearing the club's front doors when her scent hit me like a brick wall.
Was she in there?
She didn't seem to be the club type person, but you never know about people.
A low growl slipped through my lips as Sam grabbed hold of my shoulder.
"Lij, chill, man. You can't be doing that here. There are too many humans."
"She's in there." I was trying hard to calm my wolf, as he wanted to bust through the doors and claim what was ours.
"She? Oh, s**t. You found your mate?"
"Don't say a f*****g word. No one knows but me, her, and now you. I want to keep it that way, for now."
It didn't take me long to spot her as soon as we stepped inside.
Samuel's phone rang before we could even step inside.
It was Colleen. She was having issues with the baby trying to get her to sleep.
"I've got to go, man. Colleen is having a breakdown and needs me. I wanted to hang out. I'll have to take a raincheck tonight," he said, waving his hand in the air to catch a cab.
"It's no problem. Tell Colleen I said hey and give the baby a kiss for me."
It was just me now.
This club was in full swing packed out.
It was hard to get around anywhere in here. I remember why I didn't go to clubs now.
I couldn't help but watch Julia as she looked like she had had one too many to drink and was trying to dance to some rap music playing.
She looked as though she was enjoying it too much. The site of her shaking her ass got me hard quicker than I could control it.
I had to hold it together.
I slowly approached her and slid my hand along her waist. She didn't seem to mind. She could probably smell me as soon as I hit the door.
She slowly turned around and, with the strong smell of liquor on her breath, spoke, "Holy s**t, what are you doing here," she slurred as she was trying to talk to me.
Holding onto her hips so she would not hit the floor, I offered to take her home when she snickered and said, "You can take me home anytime."
I couldn't help but smile and laugh.
She stepped over to the bar and spoke to a girl I assumed was someone she knew; maybe it was her roommate, and then we headed to the front door.
We arrived back at her apartment; I managed to help her get to her front door.
She stood there for a moment with a look on her face. I was hoping she wasn't fixing to get sick; instead, she leaned up and started scenting me.
Trying not to move, I let her smell me as I embraced the feeling of having her this close to me.
Her hair smelled of strawberries and lemons and was driving me crazy by the second.
I could feel my eyes flicker and hands shake as my wolf was trying to take over.
It took everything in me not to take her right there on her porch as I tried to contain my wolf.
She made her way inside as I walked back to my car and made my way home.
My c**k was throbbing so hard, and I needed release.
I made my way up to my room and couldn't take it any longer. I stripped down into nothing but my boxers as I slowly started caressing my hard c**k.
I needed to satiate this hunger deep down in my groin. It wasn't the same as Julia, and although I knew it would give me a temporary release, I had to do something.
I still hadn't had s*x; as corny as it may sound, I was waiting to give that part of me up to my mate.
I was starting to jerk it a little faster as I could feel my pulse pumping through the large vein that ran down the side of my shaft.
I could feel myself getting faster and firmer as I could feel my release coming to a head. "Ahhh.. f**k," I groaned as I shot my massive load on my stomach and onto my hand.

It was 8:00 the next morning when I got out of bed. I showered, shaved, got ready in my best work suit, and headed to the office.
I made my way to my office, getting my files and papers together for the merger my father and I were working on for the previous three months.
It needed a few signatures from the other company; then, it would be one more task I could put to bed.
I hadn't told Julia anything yet about the merger in Paris. She would be updated today about it.
She didn't know it yet, but she was going to be going with me.
It was approaching 9:30; I knew Julia would be coming in any minute. I made her a small area for her in my office just off to the side of my desk because hers was being renovated, and I didn't mind sharing the same room.
I probably wouldn't get much work done, although that was a chance I wanted to take.
She stepped in with a cup of coffee in her hand.
I noticed the dark circles under her eyes and the way they were glossy red, that she had either been crying or hadn't had much sleep.
Considering the amount of alcohol she probably consumed last night, I was thinking the latter.
I kept my eyes on her, watching her every move. Even when she would look at me, I still kept them on her.
She was my mate.
She spoke softly, addressing me as sir and not my name, irritating the hell out of me.
I kept calm and replied, giving her a probably too stern of a voice. I could tell it annoyed the hell out of her because the next thing out of my little mate's mouth was the most sarcastic, smart-ass comment I have heard her say, yet.
Sighing deeply and rubbing my face, I knew this woman was going to be the death of me, and this was going to be a long day.
