The next morning, Brenda barged into my room like a whirlwind, armed with garment bags and a makeup kit that looked more like a weapon of war. “Rise and shine, darling,” she chirped, throwing open the curtains. Sunlight poured in, and I groaned, burying my face in the pillow. “Go away,” I mumbled. “Not a chance,” she said, yanking the blanket off me. “We’ve got work to do.” I sat up, squinting at her. “You’re enjoying this way too much.” Brenda grinned, unzipping one of the garment bags to reveal a sleek, emerald-green dress that I knew would hug every curve. “Of course I am.
