Episode 11
ARORA
Arora sat at the balcony as she used to, sharpening her twin blade which has been her normal routine. She is now in control of her gifts, she could sense when someone is planning something most especially, if it has to do with her.
The next thing she realized, she was astral projecting again, this time she met herself at her pack border. Since she left the pack that night she discovered Kalen’s plot. she had spirit-walked to several places but this time it wasn’t on her own volition to come to her pack border, something she could not explain moved her and brought her there.
She walked through the woods, she caught one of her father’s most trusted warrior entering into the pack border. This is before dawn, where could he be coming from? The man was swift, clever and trusted to carry messages no one else could read. If Kalen’s scheme were web, then this man called Lucan was one of the threads holding it together.
She guess Kalen had bought him over. Her father is now among enemies all around. She traced him from the pack border to the tree line, he didn’t know she was there, she was invisible. He didn’t know he was being followed not until the forest swallowed him whole.
With a flash of steel, the man was on the ground. She searched through his satchel until she found a sealed letter marked with unknown crest. She guessed it must be from the enemies.
Arora read through the letter and press it with her own personal crest. When Lucan awoke, the letter was still in his possession, untouched but altered and the attacker was gone.
Kalen would see the mark and know exactly who had placed it there, and he would understand the message, that she was still alive, watching and will soon return for him.
Arora’s eyes snapped open, the chill of the spirit world still clinging on her skin. She rose from her seat at the balcony and headed to the council’s chamber where a handful of council members awaited
Their gazes were fixed on her, searching her face for answers. She stood tall, though her heart beat still racing because of what she read.
Kalen is moving fast than we thought , she began. He is forging alliances with the rogues. He is planning coordinated strikes. He wanted every gifted wolf in his grasp.
Murmuring ripped through the council. Elder Garrick learned forward, his brows drawn , how certain are you of this, he asked.
I read it with my own eyes. Arora said , her tone like steel. And I saw the seal of the rogue king. He plans to target the smaller packs first, take their strongest and then move inward. Her gaze swept across each face. If we don’t cut off his supply line now, by the time we reach Broadshield territory, it would have been too late.
One of the councilmen shifted uneasily, and said But moving against Kalen will expose us, he will discover our weapon, if we make the first strike.
Arora stepped closer, her presence silence him. Kalen already made the first strike the moment he joined hands with rogues. We can either wait for his blade to reach our throat or we can break his hand before he wields it.
There was loud silence, as if everyone had seen a creature from outer world. Finally, the elders of the council nodded slowly. Then we prepare, said elder Garrick. But Arora, his gaze was sharp. If you spirit-walk again, be careful. A hunter like Kalen doesn’t let his prey watch him twice.
She didn’t show it, but the warning chilled her , because deep down she had felt it too, the moment she got closer to her pack.
ALPHA BROADSHIELD
Alpha Broadshield sat at his office, he remembered the day Arora discovered his Beta’s plot, he has been observing Kalen’s movements from then.
When Arora was known to possess these gifts, and the gift awakened, he saw awe in some eyes and greed in others. But, he list expected his beta to be one of them.
Power draws enemies like rot draws flies. No sooner had he started than the whispers, that my own beta was meeting with the rogues under the cover of darkness. I refuse to believe because, he had fought beside me and bled beside me.
But Arora saw him herself, heard their plans. They weren’t just plotting against me, they were planning to take my daughter, Arora, to break her, twist her and use her gift for their own gain.
Since Arora confirmed the unthinkable, that he’s the mole who had been feeding our enemies. Whenever our path crossed in the pack, my jaw cringed , not for his betrayal but for putting my daughter’s life in danger and the enemies will stop at nothing to get their hands on her powers.
That night I made the hardest choice of my life. I sent her away. Not as punishment, but as protection. Kalen treachery had seeped into our very walls, our pack. I don’t know who to trust anymore.
If I had kept her here, I might be putting a blade to her throat. She would never know how much it broke me to watch her leave the pack into the night. The night I had to sent my daughter, my only child away for the sake of her safety. But I swore on my blood, the day she returns , it will be to a pack free of traitors.
