“What do you think?” I asked Ronald.
Ronald had made some notes. “Well,” he said. “Let's see what we have. We have Lopez indicating he might kill anyone you send to persuade him. We have him saying he might kill you if you send someone to persuade him. Unfortunately, we don't have him admitting to the theft but we have him saying that if he had done it, he wouldn't still have the money. Which makes us believe that he probably did it but he isn't actually admitting it. What worries me is that he might be telling the truth about not having the money anymore.”
