CHAPTER 2:A NEW STUDENT

752 Words
A middle-aged man appeared before me, his jet-black hair slicked neatly with gel and his sharp, fox-like eyes giving off a serious, almost intimidating vibe. Despite his stern appearance, he wore a seemingly friendly smile as he walked toward me. “W-Wait! Who is this man?!” Hundreds of questions exploded in my head all at once. Ugh, there’s only one option left—run for it! There was no way I could face him head-on! And so, before he even had a chance to say anything, I had already turned and sprinted away 😅. Another dull school day rolled around. But my mind was drifting somewhere else, still caught up in the strange events from last night. Why was I even thinking about him so much? I already did something good by calling the ambulance for him—wasn’t that enough? Still, I couldn’t shake off this light, an almost floating feeling inside me. Maybe that’s just how I am. Whenever I see people in tragic or painful situations, I can't help but feel this deep sympathy, this urge to come closer and help however I can. Humans are like that. Unlike other creatures, we have thoughts and feelings. When we see an old man or woman struggling to cross the street, taking slow and heavy steps all alone—of course, anyone would feel compelled to help. Even when it comes to other living beings, humans tend to show compassion. I remember my mom telling me about a boy named Brian, who was often late to school because he took time to rescue bugs and worms from the road so that no one would accidentally step on them. That’s proof that there’s still kindness and goodness in the hearts of people. Maybe that’s why I can’t stop worrying about that guy from last night… While I was still lost in my cloud of thoughts, a sudden noise snapped me back to reality. The classroom door creaked open—and he walked in. For a moment, time seemed to slow. His dark brown hair swayed slightly with each step, neatly styled but not overly done—like he had just run a few lazy fingers through it. Simple, but oddly clean. His deep black eyes swept over the room—a quiet gaze, neither warm nor cold, just calm and deep like a still autumn lake, hiding everything beneath the surface. He didn’t say much. Just nodded politely at our homeroom teacher and then spoke: “Good morning, teacher. Hello, everyone. My name is Daniel Caspio.” Our homeroom teacher looked genuinely pleased. A warm smile spread across his face. “Ah, Daniel! I’m honored to have you here with us. Now, let’s see… where should you sit? Hmm… How about the back seat? Or would you prefer the front?” Suddenly, he pointed… to the seat right next to mine. “The back is fine,” Daniel replied simply. He walked over to my desk and sat down beside me, quiet and composed. Almost immediately, whispers broke out across the classroom: “Isn’t he the son of the chairman of the Caspio Corporation?” “Wait, that Caspio? One of the richest corporations in the country?!” “I heard even high-ranking officials are cautious around them…” “I think their company has branches in cars, motorcycles, and all sorts of high-tech industries…” The gossip got louder and louder until— “Alright, class. Settle down!” the teacher called out. Silence instantly returned. I’ve always been a sucker for romance novels. And under Daniel’s quiet charm, I couldn’t help but feel my heart flutter a little. That soft brown hair always falling lightly across his forehead, those deep black eyes—not sparkling, but warm and comforting in a strange way—just looking at them made you feel at peace. He was exactly the type of ideal male lead every girl in our class secretly dreamed of. Thinking back to the moment he stepped in, I started to observe him more carefully. He smiled faintly—not a bright or dazzling smile, but the kind that quietly softened your heart. He had a medium-tall build, broad shoulders, a backpack slung casually over one shoulder, and his shirt sleeves neatly rolled up—he looked polished, yet effortlessly relaxed. And the fact that he came from such a wealthy, powerful family... just like the heirs in CEO dramas... Ahh… he’s literally the perfect male lead.
