I kept my phone off for the rest of the day and overnight. I couldn't stand listening to my mother crow about me snaring a Kavanagh, and I didn't want to hear any more of my friends asking me what the hell I was doing with the guy whose brother I put behind bars. I got in early to work on Monday, but Jack was already in. He beckoned me from his doorway. "Amy, get in here. Now!" Great. He'd seen the photo in the paper too, and wanted to remind what a bad idea it was to date a Kavanagh then have the papers report it. "I know, I know," I told him, shutting his door behind me. "They haven't reported my name yet, but they probably will. I'll be keeping my head low for a while until it blows over."
