4 "It's okay, Amy." Zac's voice was the only thing I heard. The only thing I needed to hear. It was soothing, but better than that, it was strong, solid. It made me feel like he had my back while I rode out the panic attack, that he was shielding me from curious eyes, and keeping me from falling off the stool. That's because he was, I realized. He was standing beside me, his arm around my back, one hand against the side of my head, gently pressing me into his chest. He smelled of aftershave and fabric softener, with an undercurrent of spice. I kept my eyes closed and just breathed. He kissed the top of my head and massaged my neck.
