Chante forced her exhausted body out of bed the next morning. Dawn had broken the nighttime sky before heavy lids finally closed over tired eyes. She knew they would be red from crying, but there was nothing she could do about that now. She just hoped her brother wouldn’t notice. She spent the whole night tossing and turning and thinking of a way out of her predicament.
