My body trembled as I stared into the eyes of the man who’d broken my heart on more than one occasion. As much as I loved Ayden, I couldn’t keep doing this to myself. It wasn’t healthy, and I didn’t need the stress it was causing me.
“What do you want?”
“A chance to explain what really happened. It’s not what you’re thinking.”
“So you can read my mind now. How convenient.”
He winced at my response. I wasn’t sure he would say anything. He stood in silence, studying every inch of me. “I understand why you’re angry. I once misjudged something I saw too.”
