Chapter 11

After the meal, Elliot asked Lucy out to a resort. Lucy accepted the offer because she had been indoors for a long and she needed to go out for fresh air. He told her they should use his car since Lucy hadn't started driving yet. He drove off to a nearby resort on the outskirts of the city. Lucy loved the environment instantly and ordered fries and chicken, Elliot requested potato chips and a bottle of wine. They ate in silence only the sound of the cutlery could be heard. Elliot broke the silence by throwing a question at Lucy, Why did her stepmom sell her out to him? She explained to them how cruelly her stepmom treated her anytime her father went out to work and she never liked her but pretended around when the father was there.

He felt sorry for her and tried changing the topic when Lucy asked him why he came to buy her and how he met the stepmom. Gr answered saying, Your stepmom came to the market one day, and l happened to be passing l saw her so tried to give her a ride home when she started telling me how poor she was and couldn't feed her family. So l tried giving her money but she rejected it and told me she has a daughter and she will sell her to him so he gives her huge money to last long. I thought of it not to be a bad idea though because my old maid was sick and l accepted at least maybe the daughter could be of help. That is how he met the stepmom and the conversation they had. He apologized to Lucy for everything but Lucy told him it was okay What if the stepmom had killed her too, Everything happens for a reason, and now they are married.

He was happy she had accepted the apology. They talked about something else and drove back home. Lucy thanked him for the wonderful afternoon they had today. She went to change and wash down. Elliot was in the office typing and working his ass out behind the computer. She slept peacefully not wanting to disturb him. He finished the work later and joined her in bed. Days and weeks passed when Lucy realized she was developing some kind of feelings for Elliot. She thought it was not right. She thought of a way to control it. She distances herself from him but still can't control that feeling.

This developed more when one day she went to Elliot’s company and entered and saw a lady with him busy talking and laughing. She got bored and went to them so that they would notice her presence there. The lady immediately asked for her leave and winked at Elliot when she was going. She couldn't control it anymore and asked Elliot who she was and he said she was his business coworker. She was still not satisfied with his answer but stick to that. He saw the frown on her face and told her to trust her because he had eyes for only her. She felt okay now and told him the reason why she came today. Lucy took her bag and left home.
