I woke up in the hidden cabin with a pounding headache and the taste of copper in my mouth. My body felt heavy, drained, as if the awakened curse had hollowed me out from the inside. Leo was curled up beside me, breathing softly, safe for now. The room was dimly lit, and five powerful presences filled the space.
Ryker sat on the edge of the bed, watching me with intense golden eyes. The rogue Alphas were scattered around the room, bruised and battered from what I had done to them on the ice. Yet none of them looked at me with anger. Only hunger, loyalty, and concern.
“You’re awake,” Ryker said, voice rough. He took my hand, thumb stroking over my knuckles. “You scared the hell out of us.”
“I lost control,” I whispered, sitting up slowly. “I didn’t recognize any of you. I hurt you…”
Kai moved closer, kneeling beside the bed. “We’ve taken worse. Protecting him was worth it.”
Jax sat on my other side, his hand resting gently on my thigh. “But you can’t keep pushing the curse like that. It’s feeding on you now.”
I closed my eyes, feeling the ancient power still coiled inside me, restless and dangerous. “Then I need to learn control. Not just wield it... master it. Ryker… you’re the original bearer. If I anchor the power through you, maybe I can use it without it hurting any of you.”
Ryker’s eyes darkened. He nodded slowly. “Try.”
I took his hand, palm to palm. The curse responded immediately, the red energy flowing between us. This time, instead of wild and destructive, it felt steadier — anchored to him. The pain in my chest eased. I could feel the threads connecting me to all five males, but they no longer felt like chains ready to snap.
The rogue Alphas watched closely. Kai placed his hand over ours, adding his strength. One by one, Jax, Zane, and Draco did the same. The power hummed between us — not consuming, but shared. Intimate. Dangerous in a completely different way.
“It’s working,” I breathed. “But it’s binding us tighter.”
Ryker’s free hand cupped my face. “Then we learn to live with it. Together.”
Later, after Leo had eaten and fallen asleep again under heavy guard, I made the call I had been dreading.
I contacted Dr. Selene Voss — the human doctor who had hidden me abroad for three years during my pregnancy and Leo’s early life. She was the only person I trusted completely outside this war.
The line connected after two rings.
“Rhea?” Selene’s voice was calm but alert. “It’s been a long time. Are you safe?”
“I need your help again,” I said quietly, stepping into the next room for privacy. “I need a place for Leo where no shifter, no matter how strong their tracking or curse abilities can find him. A full concealment. Safety spells. Something that makes him invisible to our kind.”
Selene was silent for a moment. “I still have the wards I used before, but stronger now. A remote safe house in the mountains, layered with ancient concealment runes I’ve perfected over the years. Once he’s there, even you won’t be able to sense him easily. It’s the only way to keep him truly safe from all of this.”
My heart clenched. The thought of being separated from Leo again tore at me, but after what happened on the ice, I knew I had no choice.
“Do it,” I whispered. “Prepare everything. I’ll bring him tonight under heavy escort.”
When I returned to the main room, all five males were waiting. Ryker pulled me onto his lap, arms wrapping around me protectively. The rogue Alphas stayed close, their touches lingering — Kai’s hand on my knee, Jax’s fingers brushing my arm.
“You’re sending him away?” Ryker asked, reading my expression.
“It’s the only way,” I said. “The curse is too unstable. I can’t risk him getting caught in the middle again.”
The room fell into heavy silence. The rogue Alphas didn’t argue. They understood the weight of protecting their dead brother’s nephew.
But before we could make final preparations, my phone buzzed with a new message from an unknown number.
'The widow escaped Elias. The hybrid is evolving again. Midnight. Old pack house. Come alone or I start sending pieces of information about your little hiding plan abroad. The boy won’t be safe anywhere.'
My blood ran cold.
The widow was still alive. Still dangerous.
Ryker’s grip tightened around me. “We’re not letting you go alone.”
The rogue Alphas stood, eyes glowing with determination. “We ride together,” Jax said. “All of us.”
I looked at the five powerful males surrounding me — Ryker’s fierce possession, the rogue Alphas’ hungry loyalty, the weight of the curse binding us all.
The queen had survived the full awakening.
But the real test was only beginning.
And this time, I would face it with my power controlled… and with the males who refused to let me fight alone.
