“Go to sleep,” Kamden said.
“We still need to talk,” I said.
“Tomorrow. You wore me out, girl,” Kamden joked.
I chuckled and tried to shove him away. We both burst into laughter and kissed on the lips
as I pulled the throw blanket at the edge of my bed over us before falling into a deep sleep.
…
The next morning, I woke up in an empty bed and looked around to notice Lucky sitting
on the edge near his doggy bed. I sat up against the headboard and wondered where Kamden
went without letting me know. I stood, walked to the living room naked, and found my purse to
check for messages.
Kamden: Hey beautiful, I didn’t want to wake you. I had to get to a meeting with Cyrus.
Kamden: Don’t pout.
Kamden: I still can taste you on my lips.
Kamden: For real, stop pouting. You left me a note the first time.
I giggled at his last text and sent one back.
Me: You’re not that funny. I’m working today at Pierce and doing a walk-through of the
venue.
Kamden: Sounds good. Let me know your plans for lunch.
Me: I can’t promise, but hopefully, I’ll be at the track for practice.
The three bubbles went in and out, signaling that he was thinking of what to say next.
Kamden: All good, talk soon, sexy.
I put my phone on charge and went back to the bedroom as Dreamy followed behind me
to the bathroom so I could shower and get dressed. Cicely set out the food so she must have done
it before I came home last night; everything was neat and tidy. Forty minutes later, I came out of
the bedroom dressed in a sleek, light-blue pants suit and black heels with a white button-up shirt.
