Lillian's father, Alpha Robert, was a greedy and wicked man. He had been in a long-time conflict with the alpha of the Lumin Pack, Alpha Stephen. The two alphas often clashed, be it in opinions or in the battlefield sometimes. The rivalry seemed to come to an end however when Robert had Stephen murdered. No one knows how he did it, but Robert never denied it, he even boasted about it. Keon, who was still young at the time, vowed to take his revenge on him. But by the time Keon was ready to avenge his father, Robert had already died of a heart attack. Eager to still take his revenge and feeling robbed, Keon had attacked Lillian's pack and had demanded for the 'daughter of alpha Robert'.
Lillian's mom, Rhoda, after the death of Robert, had to rush to marry the alpha of another pack, which was William. She was scared of the enemies Robert had gathered and had married William for protection. William, who was a widower then with a daughter from his first marriage, Gilly, saw the opportunity and agreed. The marriage was advantageous and served the purpose Rhoda wanted it to serve well. But Keon's pack was by far stronger than both packs combined, so when he attacked, the effects rocked them hard. Fearing that the packs would not survive another one of Keon's attacks, William persuaded Rhoda to give Keon what he wanted, the daughter of Robert, Lillian.
So here Lillian was, in a carriage, on the road, on her way into the ownership of the pack of the man who probably hated her the most in the world. She had no idea what she would face when she got there, but she didn't for once kid herself that it would be anything pretty. Keon might immediately have her dragged to the dungeon as soon as she stepped out of the carriage. He might humiliate her first or torture her. All these thoughts caused Lillian to tense up even more as she began to wring her hands anxiously. Keon was known to be a strict and cold alpha, there was no limit to what he might do to her to satisfy his thirst for vengeance. Lillian had thought she had accepted her fate and was okay with it, but as she came closer and closer to that fate, she still couldn't help but be afraid.
Despite the nervousness and fear she felt, Lillian didn't realize when she dozed off to sleep and slept for the rest of the journey. The carriage coming to a stop in front of Keon's castle stirred Lillian awake. Her eyes fluttered open as the coachman came down and knocked lightly on the door.
"We've arrived, my lady," the coach informed her.
Lillian's heartbeat raced. Her palms became sweaty. She drew in a deep breath and attempted to compose herself, but it was all in vain. Lillian slowly opened the door and stepped out of the carriage.
She prepared herself for the worst, but she was met with nothing. There was no one there, no guards to drag her to the dungeon, no alpha Keon, no one. Lillian was confused. She stood there beside the carriage, not sure what she was supposed to do next.
She remained standing by the carriage, uncertain of her next move.
While standing there, she spotted a man striding toward her from the confines of the castle. He was tall, slim, and possessed handsome facial features. He briskly approached and came to a halt before her.
"My apologies for the delay, my lady," the man bowed.
Lillian simply gazed at him, puzzled.
"My name is Eris, I am Alpha Keon's omega, third in command," the man introduced himself.
"Oh," was all Lillian could say.
Eris ignored her short answers and smiled at her instead.
Eris guided her inside the castle, and as they proceeded, the gentle illumination of candelabras filled the space, casting dancing shadows on the walls. The air was heavy with the scent of aged wood and leather, and the sound of their footsteps reverberated off the lofty ceiling.
Upon entering the throne room with Eris, Lillian's eyes widened in amazement. The room exceeded her expectations. The vintage chandelier glittered like diamonds, painting a mosaic of colors on the floor. The throne, perched on the raised dais, appeared to radiate an otherworldly brilliance.
"This is where the alpha holds court," Eris explained, his voice low and reverent. "And where he receives guests."
Lillian nodded, her gaze fixed on the throne. She couldn't help but wonder how it would feel to sit on that throne, to be in control.
As they stood there, taking in the grandeur, Madame Delphine emerged at the entrance.
As they stood there, taking in the sights, Madame Delphine appeared at the door. "The alpha will see you now," she said, her voice firm.
Eris nodded, and Lillian felt a surge of fear. This was it. She was finally going to meet Alpha Keon.
"Follow me," Madame Delphine said, leading them to a door behind the throne.
Lillian's heart raced as she followed Madame Delphine. What would Alpha Keon be like? Would he be cruel or kind?
The door swung open, and Lillian spotted a figure standing by the window. He was tall and commanding, with piercing blue eyes that seemed to penetrate her very soul.
"Alpha Keon," Madame Delphine said, bowing low.
Finally, she was face to face with the man who had summoned her presence.
Keon's eyes narrowed as he gazed at her. "So, you're Lillian," he said, his voice deep and husky.
Lillian nodded, attempting to speak, but her voice caught in her throat.
Keon's eyes seemed to search her soul, leaving her with a shiver as he turned away, dismissing her.
"Madame Delphine, take her to her room," he ordered firmly.
Lillian felt a wave of disappointment.
That was it? She had expected more, something more.
Madame Delphine nodded, and Lillian followed her out of the room, her heart heavy with uncertainty.
What did Alpha Keon have planned for her? And why did she have the feeling she was walking into a trap?
Madame Delphine remained silent as they walked, casting an oppressive silence.
As they walked, Madame Delphine said nothing, her silence oppressive. Lillian tried to ask her questions, but she just shook her head and continued walking.
They finally arrived at a door, and Madame Delphine opened it. "This is your room," she said, her voice firm.
Lillian entered the room, surveying her surroundings. It was modest, with a solitary bed and a dresser. There was a barred window, and the door was fitted with a lock.
"You're not confined here," she stated, "but you cannot leave this room without permission."
Lillian nodded, feeling a surge of fear.
What did they plan to do with her?
Madame Delphine turned to leave, but Lillian stopped her. "Wait," she said, her voice small. "What does Alpha Keon want with me?"
Madame Delphine turned away, her expression inscrutable. "That is for the alpha to inform you," she replied, and departed, locking the door behind her.
Left alone, Lillian's mind was inundated with questions. What did Alpha Keon desire from her? And why did she feel endangered?
As she waited, she heard footsteps outside her room. The door opened, and a tray of food was brought in. Lillian ate, her mind still racing with questions.
As time passed, Lillian grew increasingly apprehensive. What fate awaited her?
