All my characters are from the west region. The emperor rules the country and the Duke rules a state, the marquis can also have a state under their names but the dukes are usually higher in position because they are closer to the royal family then the count and viscounts have lands to their names, barons usually don't have any land to their name but they might have an estate to their name.

Elijah has the title of the Duke of barvoté, but barvoté isn't his family name, he is the lord of a state. George is a viscount of Souveth which is a land but is not his land so he is called viscount George and Malyah is his family name.

SOME THINGS THAT I FEEL THE NEED TO EXPLAIN

*If it is legal to kill?

It is not legal to take someone's life but Elijah is a noble of a high ranking and an ex-soldier, so it's okay to an extent for him to do it.

*How the servants would have known that the carriage was Elijah's.

It is common knowledge for everyone including servants to know the logo of royals, they can't know everything but they have to know the logo of the Duke of Darkness.

*Is it a g*n era?

Yes, but guns have not been released to the public in the west, it is still a military weapon.

*What era is this?

everything I'm writing is fictional, that's why I'm explaining their location.
