"I am sorry it didn't go as you wanted it to, miss". Pablo said comforting the lady as they rode to her manor.
"It's alright... I mean... What was I expecting" Emily said trying to hold in her tears from coming out. Pablo noticed it and didn't want her to cry.
"It is not your fault or anything, the master has been avoiding marriage for a while now"
"Thank you, Pablo," Emily said trying to smile. She was only able to smile for a while to show her gratitude Pablo.
"Your welcome miss"
"We are almost arriving" the Coachman informed them as they got to the manor.
"It seems that we have already arrived," Pablo said still trying to lighten up her mood.
"Yes... I guess it does"
...
Emily came out of the Barvoté carriage she had been standing there, she didn't know what to do, she could only look at her father and all the servants behind. Her father later fainted and then soon after madame Lucinda came and fainted too.
She could only stand and look there was nothing that she could do or say she was frozen.
Pablo saw that the lady was in a tight spot and that he had to help her out. He was nervous, how could he just walk up to grown men and women but he wanted to be brave just like his master had already told him to be brave.
He came out of the carriage and held the miss by arm and took her to the midst of the commotion.
"Excuse me!!!" All the servants paused and we were attentive to what he had to say after all he was a servant of the Duke of Darkness.
"The lady is not putting on an attire to help her in this cold weather, a servant should escort her into her chamber". Pablo said as he looked at Emily telling her a farewell.
Some of the servants rushed to the lady almost immediately after Pablo left her side. They saw the bite marks on her body as they took her to her chamber.
"My lady, would you like to take a bath?"
"No it's alright you may leave"
Emily slowly crawled to her bed and was lost in thought as she lay down.
"Should I have accepted to be his mistress?" She was so confused.
"No!, I can't just become his mistress he would have to marry me"
Two days later...
Emily had been in her chambers since she got back from the Barvoté manor, she hadn't even seen her father. Madame Lucinda was the only one that she managed to let in. And not even she could ask any questions concerning that day, it was obvious what went down.
The Baron Garheé's office...
Madame Natalia walked into the Baron's office and sat down on one of the couches.
"Is there anything that I can help you with?" He said not even glancing at her.
"Yes actually," she said before she crossed her legs
The baron hadn't spoken to any family members too, he was quite angry with Natalia and blamed her but he blamed himself more for what happened to Emily.
"And what is that?"
"Natasha would marry George".
"What do you mean?"
"Natasha would be to wed George instead of Emily"
The baron looked at her in a funny way.
"It is not because of what happened to Emily the other day"
"Then what is it?"
"It seems that George had taken Natasha's first night"
"What?!" The baron was enraged, he was angry once again.
"They were caught during his coronation ball but he still intended to marry Emily despite that fact"
"Robert!" Robert was his attendant.
"Yes my Lord?"
"Send a message to the Malyah manor to be here by tomorrow," the baron said as he looked at him strictly.
"Yes my lord".
After Robert left for the errand he looked at Natalia.
"Don't look at me like that, I didn't know myself. Left to me, she deserves much better than him, but she loves him and that wasn't their first time so she says".
"And where was all of this taking place?"
"In the manor it seems"
"You seem so calm for someone whose daughter had been sleeping with a man without marriage".
"Don't look at me like a woman who doesn't care about her daughter..."
"Daughters" he corrected her.
"I have already burnt my fuse on her a long time ago," she said trying to ignore what he said. The atmosphere started getting quiet.
"And it wasn't my intention for Emily, please forgive me. I don't like fighting with you" Natalia said stretching her hands to the baron.
"I don't blame you as much anymore... I blame myself for not imposing on you to take care of your maternal duties" He said leaving the office.
Madame Natalia let out a loud sigh, she was tired and angry but not at Emily. She wasn't pleased with the fact that the baron was mad at her.
It seemed that she had truly fallen for the baron. She wasn't even sure whether he felt the same way, after all, he did marry her for the sake of Emily. Emily was living proof of the love he had for his first wife/love.
She wasn't the slightest bit pleased when she thought of that even though the baron assures her that he loved her she couldn't help but doubt him.
In Emily's chamber...
Emily coiled herself at the corner of her bed wrapping herself as she held into her pillow.
Someone began knocking on her door.
"Please do not come in... I am not in the mood to receive any guests"
"It's your father, please do let me in"
She obviously didn't want to see him now, she was afraid that he was going to scold her because she had disgraced him. She didn't know how she was ever going to face him, but at the same time she also wanted to see him, she wanted her father to hug her and pat her head, she wanted him to tell her that it was ok, that they'll find a way out together like she was a child again.
"You may come in she said as she sat up".
The baron came in and walked towards where she sat. His head had been down as he knelt, Emily didn't want to believe it but the baron tried to hold back his tears.
He then looked up so he could see her face.
"Emily" was all he managed to say, tears started rolling down his eyes.
"Yes... Father" Emily started crying.
"I'm sorry..." The baron said before finally bursting into tears.
"I'm sorry that your father is such a weak and timid man". He said still looking at her.
"No father it is not your fault".
"I'm sorry for not imposing maternal responsibilities on Natalia, please forgive me". He said as he held her hand before pulling her into a hug. He started whispering apologies, in her ear telling her that it wasn't her fault as he pat her head.
"Father please don't do this"
"If only I had been braver and stronger I would have made him pay for this".
"It wasn't your fault, I was the one who went with him to his manor"
"But you weren't educated about it, I'm sorry. Dearly sorry"
"It's alright father"
"I'm sorry... because Natasha is to wed George".
