"You could have knocked, where are your manners. I am your older sist..."
"That will be enough from you... I don't need a lecture from you" she said sitting on the bed with Emily.
Emily didn't bother talking to her anymore, she had felt the disrespect she just rolled her eyes and was ready to listen to any nonsense that her sister was ready to say.
"George was here last week". Natasha said as she grinned and looked at Emily.
"I heard" Emily just got up to get her book, and began to read it. She didn't know what Natasha was trying to pull but it was obvious that she thought that she could anger or irritate Emily.
"I guess I will be to wed before you, my dear sister"
"Mmmh" Emily replied still looking at her book, now she really knew where Natasha was headed and thought that it was best to tune her out and not listen to any rubbish that she was spouting. Her ignorance kept hitting some nerves in Natasha.
"How did it feel doing it with the Duke of Darkness? How did you even survive it? Did he have a big rod?"
"I don't know" Emily was already getting annoyed, Natasha asked so many questions, that she was probably trying to find what will provoke her, but Emily wasn't ready to give her that satisfaction. Hell will freeze before she let Natasha get the best of her.
Natasha looked annoyed but it didn't look like she was ready to give up, just yet.
"Well I am happy that this happened, at least you are not father's precious little innocent girl anymore... We are both impure maidens now"
"Natasha, if you have nothing else to say, please leave now"
"I have things to say," she said taking the book from Emily's grip.
Emily finally looked at her like she questioned her actions, she wasn't ready to argue much less fight.
"Okay say what you want to say and get out"
"I would get married to George and it is decided," she said it like Emily wanted George in the first place. It seemed that Natasha was just stupid.
"Okay, I do not oppose your choice"
"And also... Is the Duke of Darkness the one that you desired" Natasha asked Emily as she looked at her attentively.
"That is non of your concern"
"Your right... It is none of my concern but I am curious"
"Get out" Emily simply said as she took her book back from Natasha.
"Please come in!" Emily said using hand signs to tell Natasha to leave. It vexed Natasha. Luckily it was the baron who walked in.
"Oh... Are the both of you reconciling?"
"No father, we still have a lot more to talk about," Natasha said looking at Emily with a devious look.
"Should I excuse you two?"
"No, it's alright father. I for one have nothing to say to her" Emily said as she let out a loud sigh.
"Well mother did ask me to be back soon and I have wasted too much of her time. Goodbye sister it was a lovely chat while it lasted" she said walking out of the room.
"Sit down father"
"Of course," the baron said as he sat with Emily on her bed, he sat down very close to her as he held her hand looking at her in the eyes, he had a hopeful look on his face.
"What is it, father?" Emily asked with a confused smile on her face.
"I spoke with the count of a nearby town and guess what"
"No I can't guess, what is it, father?" She already looked uncomfortable with the discussion, but she still smiled anyways. She didn't want to seem rude to her father.
"He had three sons and was desperately looking for a wife for his third one" he seemed to be getting happier as he said that, he began rubbing her hands and had a wide smile on his face.
"So I explained our situation to him but I didn't tell him about the Duke of Darkness... I am sorry" his mood seemed to slightly go down as he said the last part.
"It's alright" of course it wasn't.
"Emily?"
"Yes, father?"
"Did he release anything in..." The baron quickly stopped himself from asking what he was about to ask her. Of course, the Duke wouldn't be so tactless, he couldn't possibly have gotten his daughter pregnant .... Right?.
"What was that father?"
"Don't worry about anything, we have agreed that they come next week after Natasha and George's engagement ceremony".
"Of course," she said with a distant expression, she didn't want to marry anyone else. She just wanted to marry her dark knight, but she knew that there was no way that she could convince her father to take her to the Duke. She didn't want to tolerate it but she had no choice but to bear with it for a while. There was still hope, she just needed to be patient.
"We want to get Natasha married as soon as possible. That seems to be what they both want, so I'll try with everything in my power to make sure that you wed before her"
"It's alright father, I don't mind anymore. I am not scared of little rumors". She said trying to give him an assuring smile.
"Oh alright... But I will try... I'll try my very best to take care of everything I can for you"
"I know father... You always have"
"And also, just know that whatever happens, I will always be there for you," he said before kissing her on her forehead.
"I love you so very much, even if no one is there for you I will always be by your side as your father and as someone that you can confide in".
Emily just smiled at him and rolled her eyes "father you keep on repeating yourself that I'm tired of hearing you say it... I know you will take care of me I expect no less from the best father I can ever hope for"
"Oh really? It's been so long since you called me the best father" they both laughed after he said that.
"Well goodnight," the baron said as he excused himself.
As the baron left Emily's smile began to deteriorate before she laid under her blankets and held on to her chest, she was hurting but had no idea what to do.
Two days later...
Emily had been in the library, looking for some more books to ease her boredom and to get away from reality but it seemed hard for her to go one.
She was still down from her conversation with her father.
"Lady Emily!" a servant called, but she wasn't in Emily's view.
"Yes?!... Is there anything that you need from me?" Emily said still looking through the shelves and was unbothered .
"There you are miss," the servant said as she walked toward Emily.
"A letter came in for you"
"Who is it from?"
"It didn't say. I just figured it might be important"
"Okay, drop it over there for me," she said pointing at the table in the library nonchalantly.
It took a while for her before she could find a book before she looked at the letter. When she opened the letter, the handwriting was horrible, she wondered if this was a joke. It seemed like the person had just learned to write.
"Good day miss Emily Garheé, I'd like to inform you that master Matthew has been looking for a wife for my master but has been unable to, it had seemed that no noble wanted their daughter with my master, they all seem to fear him except for you miss. I believe that master Matthew would be the only one who can convince my master to let you marry him because my master often listens to him well.
But master Matthew has returned home, his wife has just put to birth another child, so his return is unknown for now. But do not lose hope because he always informs the master 3 days prior before he comes. I shall send you another letter before he comes. So until then miss.
This is Pablo, the attendant of master Elijah".
Emily began to tear up after she read the letter, she was happy. There was really still hope for her.
"Thank God," she said to herself.
Souveth Region...
The Malyah manor...
"My lord!" One of the servants barged into George's office, he was panting heavily. It seemed he had been running for a very long time.
"What is it?" George asked him sounding irritated.
"The du.." he was cut short by a kick that was given to him on the back making him fall to the ground in front of the door, the man who kicked him stepped on him to come in. George couldn't believe who he saw come in, he was scared.
"Good day the honorable viscount of Souveth, it is my pleasure to meet you"
"Well... Duke Elijah" he said clearing his throat. He was shaking in his boots.
