“Miss Caldwell, aren’t you going to introduce him?”
Ophelia Caldwell smiled faintly, her gaze focused on Orion. Her tone was light, “This is my fiancé, Orion. Please don’t bully him when I’m not around.”
The people present were all from wealthy families, and the meaning of her words was clear: she and Orion had already confirmed their engagement, and they might rely on their support in the future for business matters.
Jane’s boyfriend, Lucian Hawthorne, saw this and explained to Jane, “That’s the heiress of Caldwell Group, and the man next to her is her fiancé. I’ve heard this guy isn’t simple; he might have some connections with the Carrington family.”
Lucian patiently introduced the people around them to Jane, obviously assuming it was her first time interacting with such wealthy people.
Jane knew full well who Orion was, but to avoid drawing attention to Leonie’s relationship with him, she pretended to be curious and asked, “How did Miss Caldwell end up with a bastard?”
Lucian leaned in close to Jane’s ear and whispered, “I heard Orion saved Miss Caldwell. But I don’t know the details. It seems Ophelia really loves Orion.”
Hearing this, Jane looked at Leonie with some concern.
At that moment, Leonie was being led by Alaric toward the golf course, no longer paying attention to Orion.
As Orion entered, he briefly made eye contact with Leonie. A flicker of surprise and even anger, tinged with betrayal, flashed in his eyes.
When did she get to know Alaric?
Alaric took the golf club from one of the staff members, adjusted his stance, and set up like a professional. He aimed and swung the club sharply. The ball smoothly went into the hole.
The staff around them applauded, giving him a warm round of applause.
Leonie looked from afar and saw the ball fly off, landing smoothly in the hole on the first swing!
Alaric turned his gaze toward Leonie. “Have a try?”
Leonie nodded, walking forward to take the club from Alaric.
Without hesitation, Alaric pulled her into his arms. They were very close, and Leonie could feel his warm breath lightly brushing over her head.
The man gently extended his foot to part her legs, an intimate gesture that made Leonie feel a little awkward. She tightly gripped the golf club in her hands.
Then Alaric placed his hand over hers, patiently guiding her to adjust her stance, before moving with her as they swung the club together.
“Don’t tilt your body. Focus your gaze ahead.”
Alaric inhaled the fresh scent of Leonie’s perfume, and a ripple of emotion stirred inside him.
Leonie felt her heartbeat quicken, almost leaping out of her chest.
After all, this was Alaric. For a man like him, it was hard for any woman to stay calm.
Some teasing voices came from behind them. “Looks like Mr. Carrington has fallen in love.”
“Yeah, these two are really well-matched.”
Hearing this, Orion’s smile gradually froze.
His expression darkened, and he shot a cold, hard glance at Leonie and Alaric on the golf course, his mind seemingly filled with thoughts.
During the break, Jane eagerly pulled Leonie into the lounge.
Jane could hardly contain herself, her eyes filled with excitement, “Oh my god, you two are like the main couple from a TV drama! You’re so perfect for each other. I didn’t expect Alaric to be so gentle; I thought he was really serious.”
In the midst of her excitement, Jane also became a little worried and reminded Leonie, “But someone of Alaric’s status isn’t so easy to control. Be careful not to get too caught up in it, or it’ll cause you a lot of trouble.”
Leonie calmly replied, “Right now, I just want to get Ezekiel out. As for Alaric, I don’t think he’s being sincere. At most, he just wants to have some fun with me.”
Jane felt a bit sorry for her but understood. She nodded gently, “As long as you know it.”
Just as her words finished, a faint sound echoed, and the door was pushed open. Orion walked in.
Upon seeing Orion, Jane immediately showed an expression of displeasure. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you afraid your fiancée will find out?”
But this didn’t seem to faze Orion at all. His gaze darkened as he looked at Leonie. “We need to talk.”
Leonie thought about her brother and ultimately didn’t refuse.
She turned to Jane. “Jane, I want to talk to him.”
Jane’s face grew serious, a hint of disapproval in her eyes, but she nodded. “I’ll be right outside. Let me know if you need anything.”
Once Jane left, only Leonie and Orion were left in the room. Orion slowly walked toward her. “When did you start getting in touch with Alaric? I suggest you think carefully. Do you really think you can handle someone like him? Do you think it’s impressive to play a round of golf with him? In his eyes, you’re just a toy!”
Orion’s relentless questioning caught Leonie off guard, and by the time she came to her senses, Orion had already reached her.
He towered over her, standing in front of the couch, his expression filled with dissatisfaction.
“Mr. Beaumont, we’ve already broken up. Please respect me.” Leonie stood up, not wanting to be in a passive position. “As for who I choose to be with, that’s my personal matter, and it has nothing to do with you.”
Orion was enraged by Leonie’s words. He stepped forward and shoved her harshly against the wall.
He leaned close to her ear, sneering. “Weren’t you always so conservative? You wouldn’t even let me kiss you before. Do you think becoming Alaric’s woman is that simple? All he wants is your body. Do you really think you can satisfy him?”
Leonie turned her head away. “Enough! This has nothing to do with you.”
“Nothing to do with me? Your brother Ezekiel is still in the police station, and what about you? You’re too busy pleasing other men! Well, with a face like yours, you could probably sell for a good price at a strip club!”
These words pushed Leonie beyond her limits. She slapped Orion across the face with all her strength.
Orion was stunned by the slap. He touched his cheek, the side she had hit, and growled, “Alright, Leonie, don’t regret this!”
He then shoved her roughly onto the nearby sofa and turned to leave.
At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open, and a familiar figure appeared in the doorway—it was Alaric.
