Calm Down
After Daniel left, not long after that she heard the sound of the door opening.
Davina immediately inched back to the middle of the bed. Still traumatized by the pain on her back. The girl was afraid that Melvin would come and then whip her again.
However, Davina felt calm when she saw a middle-aged woman was standing at the door.
"What are you here for?" Davina said while hugging her knees tightly.
"Calm down, I just want to treat your wound," Hannah said kindly.
But Davina still looked at the middle aged woman with a look of fear. She was really afraid to remember what was happened. She was only a rose delivery girl but must be trapped in a house that inhabited by a very cruel man. Davina lamented her sad fate. If she can choose, she should just die together with her parents. The middle aged woman approached Davina and sat on the side of the bed. She felt very sorry to see Davina's condition, which looked messy.
"Do not come close!" Davina said as Hannah walked over.
"Calm down, I won't hurt you," Hannah persuaded to calm Davina. Davina retreated even more violently. Her hands gripped the sheet tightly.
"Awhh!" Davina groaned loudly as her sprained leg was bent too much. "Are you all right?" Hannah sat on the edge of the bed right next to Davina.
"Go, don't come near me," Davina said as she brushed Hanna's hand that was about to grab her stomach. The girl who was usually very gentle, this time had changed. Hannah took a deep breath. Even though she was being kind, Davina's response was the opposite. But she could understand that Davina was terrified.
"Calm down, I came here only to treat your wounds. I won't hurt you,"Hannah persuaded her in w very soft word. Davina bit her lower lip while wondering if what Hannah said was the truth.
After thinking for a moment, Davina finally started to pull her clothes up a little. Her skin felt sore when her skin rubbed against the coarse clothes.
"Ahhh," Davina groaned, while grimacing in pain. The middle-aged woman widened her eyes when she saw the visible scar on Davina’s back. The bruise contrasted too much against her pure white skin. The bruise that was red had now started to turn blue.
"Oh my God," the middle-aged woman said as she closed her mouth. Shocked, at the same time also pity at what she saw. She immediately opened the cover of the ointment that was in her hand.
"Miss, hold on a little. It's a bit sore but it won't last long," said Hannah. Davina leaned her head on her knees for support while shedding tears. Her hands gripped the sheets tightly as her back ached. The ointment applied by Hannah caused her back to sting even for a while until it slowly felt comfortable and cold. During her lifetime, Davina had never experienced violence like this. Her parents never even acted harshly, let alone whipped her.
"Miss, be patient," said the maid as she listened to Davina's muffled sobs
"Auntie, please help me to get out of here," Davina asked as she turned to face Hannah. She gripped Hannah’s hand which had started to wrinkle with age.
"Sorry, aunt can't do anything," Hannah said sadly. She was just a servant who didn't have the courage to fight back. Moreover, her family members will definitely bear the risk.
"I didn't do anything to that woman, Auntie," Davina sobbed with tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I believe in you but be patient. Don't be too much against him because the more you fight the more Mr Melvin will get even more angry." Hannah hugged Davina’s body then rubbed her back slowly.
"Actually, who is that woman? Why did she get hurt and why was I accused of hurting her?”
There were so many questions in Davina’s mind.
"She is Miss Gloria, Mr. Melvin's adopted sister. Tomorrow Miss Gloria should have married to Tumelo," Hannah said.
"Are they getting married?" Davina broke free while wiping the tears with the back of her hand. No wonder she saw so many roses yesterday.
"Maybe the marriage will be canceled if Miss Gloria's condition is not conscious," Hannah said sadly. No wonder Melvin was like a demon, it was all because Gloria was his sister.
"Poor Gloria," Davina muttered.
"What's your name? Where are you from? How did you get to this place?" Hannah asked repeatedly.
"I'm Davina, yesterday I delivered roses to this house," Davina said sadly. Not long after that, a waiter brought food for Davina.
"Davina eat. You must be very hungry because you haven't eaten since yesterday," Hannah said.
Davina took a sip of her saliva, it was undeniable that right now she was really hungry. It was just that when Melvin arrived her hunger was replaced by pain. Seeing the food that was so tempting, Davina finally wanted to eat it. She ate very heartily. Davina felt calmer because Hannah’s presence could reduced her fear.
Check ....
Suddenly the door opened again. Melvin was standing in the doorway, his gaze fixed on Davina.
"Auntie, please come out right now," Melvin said coldly. Obediently and without refusal,Hannah immediately walked away from the room. She glanced briefly at Davina before finally closing the door.
"What are you here for?" Davina said after gathering her courage.
"You hurt my sister so tomorrow you must be willing to be a replacement bride," Melvin said while bringing his face closer to Davina's. Gripping her chin slightly rough.
Davina grimaced at the pain in her cheek. Melvin's nails stuck to her skin.
"I do not want!" Davina refused firmly. She didn’t want to marry a man who abused her.
"Did you refuse me?" Melvin shouted right in front of Davina’s face. Both of Davina’s hands were then secured behind her back.
"If you don't hurt Gloria , I won't marry you either!" Melvin said sarcastically.
"Please let me go," Davina said as she pulled her wrist apart. She was terrified to see Melvin’s burning gaze as if he was about to eat her alive.
"I won't let you go before Gloria regains consciousness! One more thing, if you don't say who sent you, don't expect that you can get out of this house." Melvin threw Davina hand very roughly.
"Didn't I tell you I was innocent? I really have no intention of harming her." Davina tried to defend herself.
"Enough! I don't care what you say because you are proven guilty," Melvin said while holding back his emotions. Didn’t let himself be rude and made her sick the next day.
Bangg... Melvin walked out of the room and slammed the door loudly.
"Wait! Let me get out of here," Davina shouted but it was useless because the door was tightly closed and locked from the outside.
