FOURTEEN “Hello?” I groan into the phone, having overslept on this beautiful, extremely sunny Monday morning. I blink at the harsh sunlight, phone pressed to my ear, trying not to doze off since apparently there’s another person on the line. “Hello?” I try again, clearing my throat, my morning voice sounding like a life-long smoker when I’ve never touched the things. “Sophie?” I hum. “Yeah, hi, Russia.
