Chapter 2

1565 Words
*Troy* We all pile into Landon’s office. I walk toward the bookshelf where we hide the tv tables and grab a few to put all our crap down on. Trinity takes my suit jacket from me and goes to collect everyone else's. I bend down to set up the tv table and one of her best features is right in my face. I subconsciously lick my lips, and my eyes don’t stray from her ass as she walks over to the coat rack in those 4-inch heels. I’ve no clue how it’s possible, but her ass looks even more amazing when she wears them. I watch as she slowly bends over, and I feel my heart race. I hear Max my wolf purr in my head, “The things I want to do to that ass, mmmmm.” I can’t help the sly smile that creeps onto my lips at his lust for his mate. “Ahem,” Landon clears his throat, staring at me. I just shrug my shoulders, with a stupid grin on my face. I waited far too long to find my mate, and I will take every opportunity to stare at her. I look back and notice the heels are by the door. I feel my grin slip. “Oh, do not pout at me sir, my feet f*****g hurt,” Trinity says with a chuckle. I pull her down onto the couch next to me, reaching down to grab her feet. She squeals as I place them on my lap and begin rubbing them for her. I’m watching as she closes her eyes, enjoying the feel of my hands on her. “Are you two done loving on each other? Can we get this meeting underway?” Ben asks with a laugh. Trinity just sticks her tongue out at him but smiles. “Okay, I think we should call the Silver Moon Pack and see if we can get more details on what is going on and what has been done so far.” Landon hits the speaker button and after three rings a woman answers the phone. You can hear sniffles, “A-alpha Arron’s off-office.'' The woman who answers the phone has obviously been crying, setting the tone for the seriousness of the call. “Hello, this is Alpha Landon, I was wondering if I could speak with Alpha Aaron, please?” We can hear a gasp on the other end of the phone. Then she blew her nose very loudly. “Oh, your majesty, pardon me. This is Luna Sage; Aaron is with our Beta’s family right now. We were told that Rebecca should have woken up by now. The doctor keeps telling us that her wolf will heal her, but her birthday is tomorrow and there is no sign of her waking up. She does not twitch; she does not flinch. Sh… She just lays there.” You could hear the sobs wracked her body. “Alpha, it all happened so fast! We are still trying to put the pieces together.” The Luna blows her nose again and tries to catch her breath. “Luna Sage, I’m going to send up a team to help lend a hand. Hopefully find out what is going on and see if we can find my cousin.” “Oh, my goodness that is right, I forgot that your families were related.” “How is Renee holding up?” “She’s okay. Owen is a mess ... Becca is his princess.” “Yes, what daughter isn’t to a father. Well, we received Aaron’s letter today. I can have a team out in a day or two.” “Alpha, thank you so much. Please email me how many are coming so I can prepare the rooms.” As Landon finishes up the call with Luna Sage, I couldn’t stop the groan that left me. The pain that came from Luna’s voice is felt around the room. I see Landon pull open the cabinet behind his desk and reach for a large glass bottle filled with amber liquid. I get up and grab five glasses from the shelf and slide them across the desk and Landon starts to pour. “Alpha, are you sure you want me to go? I really have no field experience,” Trin says as she eyes her glass nervously but gulps it down anyway. “What would make you think you are not qualified?” He asks her curiously. Now, Trinity is vital in our pack hospital but even more so during interrogations. She’s blessed with a gift from the moon goddess. Trinity’s blessing is that she can tell if anyone is lying; I call her the ace up our sleeve. Right now, she’s spouting some s**t about why she does not feel qualified to go. I just raise my eyebrow at her, and I hear Ben laugh. “I don’t know what's cuter, you thinking I was leaving your adorable ass home or you thinking you would get out of it?” She scoffs at me and rolls her eyes. “To be honest, if we could spare Dr. K or even Dr. Taylor, maybe they could review the file? Do they know what type of explosive was used? Also, when you email Luna Sage, can you see if they have any photographs of the scene?” Trinity just keeps rattling off a task list like a freaking pro, no field experience my ass. I can see Landon’s lips curve up in a smile. He's proud of her, which makes my pride for her soar. Landon places his elbows on his desk and leans forward a bit. He’s looking right at her and whatever he’s about to say, he wants to make sure she hears him loud and clear. “Yes, Trinity, you are going… but I want you to work on your confidence, my friend. You have the tools and skills to be very effective. You just need to believe in yourself, kid.” “She has some good points though. I’m not sure if we can send one of the doctors but maybe we can set up a ZOOM meeting to go over the details,” Ben says. Since the coronation, our pack hospital is continually called upon for guidance from other packs across the world. Alpha’s cousin Kara, who we lovingly call Doc. K or just K, is a fantastic doctor and everyone in the medical community looks up to her. I personally would prefer it if she went to check on Becca. I remember Becca from my last visit to their pack. She had to be 10 years old, the kid had the brightest green eyes and crazy long red hair. We would tease her that she was so thin that she could blow away in a windstorm. What I remember the most is that she loved to read but she was super feisty. I stretch and rub the back of my neck and go to loosen my tie. You know what, she reminds me a lot of Malinda. “Alpha, are you listening?” Trinity asked. “Do you see the look on his face? Of course, he’s not listening.” I look back to see Malinda, Sam and my brothers enter the room. Mal rolls over to Landon, stealing the glass from him and taking a sip. “So, baby…” Malinda purrs as she runs her hand across Landon’s cheek. Ha! Here it comes… She wants information and is going to stoop to any level to get the details she wants from him. “What the hell is going on?” She whispers and playfully grabs his shirt pulling him closer to her face. She places a gentle kiss on the edge of his mouth. He shivers and the look on his face says it all. He looks over to the guys, and we’re grinning back at him because we all know he’s about to cave. “Ugh okay, okay,” he says exasperated. Landon passes them the letter to look over and lets them in on everything that Luna Sage told us. “Okay, this is how I see this going. Trinity and Troy will lead the team along with Michael. Send me a list tonight with whoever else you want with you. We will all go to Silver Moon and check to see if anything is off. I want to talk to everyone from the old to the young to see if anyone saw anything weird in the last month. Let’s tackle Becca first. I will call the school Sean is with and try to create a timeline before we have a team jumping on a plane heading out to Ireland. I’m sure the packs out there can help us out,” Landon says. After another thirty minutes, the game plan is all set. Trinity and I head back to our apartment to start getting packed. As we walk down the hall, I can see she’s very distracted. I slide my hand into hers and pull her close to me. “You okay, my little mate?” She leans into me, and I can sense that her mind is far away. “Troy, to be honest, I don’t know what is going on but what has happened at Silver Moon has me shook.”
