KAELIS BOREALIS
4 hours later
The wind was cold against his face as he stood in front of the house, hands behind his back, just observing, watching. He walked around the perimeter of the house, observing the barrier, that covered it, it was a strong barrier, with almost no loopholes, too strong for a house of that size, a house that small.
He recognised it, the perfection of its seams, loopholes non existent, if his intuition was right, he knew exactly who could make a barrier so powerful, but the question was why? And for what? Who were they protecting and why.
He walked towards the house, the barrier pulsating the closer he got, he touched it gently and felt it's power thrumming from within, firm against his touch, a smile formed on his lips
“Clever as always” , he said gently taking his hands off the barrier, the smile on his lips broadened , he held out his left hand and cut a vein with his claws, golden blood oozing out into his other hand, gently he spread his blood on the barrier, his golden eyes lightening up as he did so.
The barrier suddenly lit up, it's seams and intricacies more evident now to the eye than before, almost no loopholes in sight.
On his far right, he could hear a slight tear in the barrier, he walked towards it and walked through the barrier, into the house, immediately he did so the tear closed, sealing on it's own, the golden light that emanated from it was no longer there, only a sharp light run through its seams, reinforcing it once again.
He let out a little laugh as he watched the barrier reinforce itself, it was a rare thing, for a barrier to reinforce itself. Rare, not impossible, and only a very small group of people were powerful enough to create such a barrier .
“Interesting “ he said, eyes scanning the new environment he now stood on.
It was small, but all human homes were to his kind. Regardless it was beautiful, well kept, it had a completely different atmosphere, the wind that brushed his face seemed warmer this time, the environment was more peaceful, serene.
He could feel Raikaelyn's presence in the house, but he wasn't alone, there were two others, one he couldn't quite pinpoint exactly, only feel. He walked gently towards the garden, his golden eyes lightening up in the darkness, with every step he took. He stopped in his tracks, observing, surveying.
He could see it all, Where Raikaelyn stood, his now dried blood in the grass, there was someone else with him, smaller, lighter, a woman, she had a rifle, but no shots were fired.
He walked slowly towards the sunflower garden, tracing their footsteps, his golden eyes leading the way, till he stopped at the basement door.
He could feel Raikaelyn's presence in there, at rest, he was asleep, clearly he was not harmed, he could feel the other presence too, it was everywhere, at the same time, but where exactly, he couldn't tell. It was overpowering and in some way hypnotic, drawing him deeper and deeper.
He opened up the basement door and went through it, looking around as he did. Whoever lived here was not to messed with, his intrigue grew with every step he took, and somewhere inside, he was a little excited to meet whoever this woman is.
He stopped in front of the door leading to the room Raikaelyn slept in and gently opened the door, leaning against the door frame, hands and legs crossed, a smile forming on his lips as he did, Raikaelyn smiled back
“You heard me coming, and here i was thinking I'd finally get the chance to sneak up on you at least once”
Raikaelyn let out a laugh, putting on his shirt as he did so .
“You should know a warrior never falls asleep, at least not completely “ He stood up from the edge of the bed where he sat, picking up the bag as he did. Kaelis eyes shifted to it, his gaze softened for a second as he did. He could only imagine the torture he had gone through to get this back to Velmora.
“I see you've had quite the night, and you brought a little gift with you too”
“Well don't be too excited yet, the biggest surprise of the night is yet to come” Kaelis laughed in response following Raikaelyn as he walked out the bedroom door and towards the basement door.
The soft wind that surrounded the house gave a warm welcome as they stepped outside the basement and closed the door behind them, slowly taking in the environment as they walked through the garden, suddenly they stopped in their tracks, looking straight ahead into the darkness , their eyes lighting up golden as they did so, watching the movement in the dark.
“Well, running away in the night with another man? I am quite hurt, more so disappointed, not even a goodbye?” Kessari said walking into the light as she did so, a smile on her lips, her face glistening in the light where she stood, her long red hair dancing in the soft wind that surrounded the house.
“You'll get over it eventually” Raikaelyn said, his voice sounding a little louder in the night, a laugh escaping his lips as he finished his sentence.
Kessari took a few more steps closer, the light from the full moon shining down on her, making her watercolor eyes glisten in the night. She looked beautiful, she was beautiful, almost ethereal.
Raikaelyn turned to look at Kaelis, he hadn't spoken a word since Kessari spoke, his gaze was fixed on her, unmoving, unshaken, just fixed, hands in his pocket as he did so, to any other person, his posture would look powerful and composed, but Raikaelyn knew him too well, he could hear the beating of his heart, how his claws dug into his clenched hands, the soft gaze in his eyes as he stared at her, he could feel his yearning, his longing, but also his confusion and worry, worry for her.
“Aren't you going to introduce me to your friend, it's the least you can do, don't you think? Before Raikaelyn could speak, Kaelis stepped forward, into the light where Kessari stood, facing her as he did so, staring at her without saying a word.
As her gaze landed on him her heart raced, adrenaline filling her blood. Her body became numb and in her mind it was as though a thousand fireworks had gone off at the same time, it's colours flooding her mind, making her heart race even faster.
Her eyes were fixed on his, and his on hers and the longer she stared at him, the harder it became to breathe. He took another step closer, his eyes still fixed on her as he did.
She took a step back, placing a hand over her chest, an attempt to stop her heart from racing so fast, her knees wobbled as she did so making her loose her stamina, but just when she thought she'd stumble backwards and fall, he quickly held onto her, placing on hand on her back to adjust her stance, their fingers touched as he did this, he held unto her hand, their gaze still fixed on each other, both their hearts racing faster as their hands touched, suddenly the once soft wind changed, it was as though a storm was going to hit, the wind encircled then moving quickly, Kessari looked around, confusion and awe clouding her senses, but there was no time to think, everything was happening so quickly.
As the moon shone on the wind that encircled them, it changed into a beautiful golden colour, a soft melody singing as the wind encircled them. She looked at Kaelis, her hand still in hers, despite the chaos surrounding them, he was calm, gaze still fixed on her, but this time softer as if to reassure her that everything was alright.
The wind that encircled them wrapped around their bodies quickly, pulling them closer towards each other until they could feel each other's breath, hot against their skin. For a second Kessari panicked, she gently tried to break free but she couldn't.
The singing melody that accompanied the wind got louder, then the earth began to shake, so lightly it was almost as though it wasn't happening, she looked around, terror filled her mind, she wanted to scream, but before she had time to panic, she heard a voice in her mind, so gentle, so calm, it sounded like rain, and the voice of gentle rushing waters.
‘You're safe, it's alright, you're safe with me”
Suddenly she was no longer afraid. She looked up at Kaelis, eyes filled with tears, not tears of sorrow or sadness or panic, but tears of safety, for the first time in her life she felt safe. Kaelis encircled her in his arms, slowly she placed her head on his chest, closing her eyes as she did so, the golden wind circling them got stronger, its golden lighter getting brighter the closer they got, the melody pitch getting higher as the wind got stronger.
But as Kessari rested her head on his chest, somehow the noises around them drowned out and in her mind she felt a calmness like never before, in her mind she was not in the present where the rushing golden wind scared her, she was safe, standing by a riverside listening to it's calm movement, feeling it's gentle waves on her fingers as she dipped into them.
After what seemed like forever the rushing wind stilled, there was no melody, no sounds, no shaking earth, just quiet almost as if nothing had happened. Kaelis gently passed his fingers through her hair, she moved to his touch, opening her eyes as he did so.
His eyes were golden; there were drawings on both his hands that weren't there before. Intricate drawings that looked like tattoos. She gently examined them, her fingers trailing along them as she did, a soft golden glow emanating from within them as she touched them.
Then she caught a glimpse of her hands too, similar Intricate drawings covered both of them a soft sea blue like light emanating from where his hands touched hers. She looked up at him, panic slowly filled her eyes. Kaelis gave her a smile, gently holding her face as he did so, his eyes fixed on her.
“Hello Mate, I am Kaelis Borealis and it looks like you're stuck with me forever “
Kessari's eyes widened slightly, but before she had a chance to speak, her world darkened, fainting on his chest as it did so.
And from that night, his gaze would never leave her mind and hers would cloud his for as long as he lived.
