“Marks of ownership “
“Okay…..?? What are they?”
“Just like it's name it's a mark that shows that someone or something belongs to someone else, mostly a stronger person than them, in my clan, the reigning Alpha’s family have a family mark of ownership and personal ones too, used to sort of brand anything that belongs to them only”
Kessari's interest was piqued. This revelation would scare many but not her, if anything she found it funny. She spent her whole life believing greatly that she belonged to herself, that she was her own person, her own woman, but the whole time she had been marked as someone else's property. She didn't like the thought of that, not at all
“So…how does a person get these marks??”
“They're mostly given personally by the giver, but in some very rare cases, the giver doesn't need to, some people are born with a mark of ownership, which means from birth, destiny has already decided who they belong to, and judging from all your questions about this, I think it's safe to assume that you're one of those rare cases”
“So what are the most common rare cases?”
“Fated mates, if a wolf or person is fated to be another's mate, they are born with a mark of ownership, but mostly these marks are only visible to the one they are fated to, no one else should be able to see them ... .unless..”
“Unless..?????”
Raikaelyn knew he had the upper hand now, at least for as long as her intrigue lasted. He was just as intrigued as her, mainly because he knew that mark of ownership she had, which people it belong to, the ones on her arm specifically, but how that came to be, and why destiny would choose a human as a fated mate to such a powerful wolf clan family was beyond him, he could already play out exactly how it would go, the chaos, he didn't even want to think about it.
“Unless… it's nothing important “
Kessari's blood started to boil, what did he mean by ‘it's nothing important’ after telling her she did not own her own life .
“It IS important, I need to know, this is MY life and you cannot withhold information from me, you said no one should be able to see the marks, how are you able to see it then?”
“Bloodshare, means I have shared blood with whoever the mark belongs to or their family”
“So you know who owns this mark?”
“Yes and No”.
“What do you mean by yes and no, do you or do you not know? It's really simple and straightforward “
“ Give me a place to rest, then I'll tell you”
“ You think all this is a joke? It's not, you don't just casually tell someone that their whole life and existence completely belongs to someone else and then choose to withhold information from them like it's a common sport”
“ I don't think it's a joke, especially considering how short, fickle and fragile the lifespan of you humans are, but if you have not noticed, I am wounded, and in an excruciating amount of pain and unless I get a chance to rest and heal, I doubt I'll make it through the night, so, it's really simple, give me a place to rest and hopefully I live long enough to tell you all I know about your marks, what do you say human?”
He was right, the blood from his side had not stopped, leaving a puddle of gold blood where he stood, from his stance and the way he limped and shifted uncomfortably it looked like he had pain on his other side too, his grasp on the bag he held was considerably weaker now compared to how firmly he held it before, she had been so invested in who he was and the things that he said that she hadn't noticed how weak he had gotten.
“Fine, we have a deal, I stop you from dying, you tell me what you know, And my name is not human, I am Kessari. So Raikaelyn do we have an agreement??”
‘Kessari?? Inteesring. Well Kessari I believe we do , we'd shake on it but both my hands are quite occupied now as you can see” a little smile playing on his lips
“Spare us both the joke, you're terrible at it, follow me” she walked over to the rifle and picked it up, then walked past him to a door behind her sunflower garden, opened it and walked through into what seemed like a well kept basement, he just stood there, watching, not moving.
“Are you going to keep standing there “ he took a couple of steps towards her and stopped right at the door.
“You're not going to kill me are you?
“Not until after you answer my questions, after that I can't promise your safety or life” she gave him a wicked but oddly cute smile as she walked in, he took a deep breath and followed her in.
He didn't know what he was expecting but he did not expect what he saw as he walked in, this was no basement, this was a war room, weapons neatly arranged on the walls, almost every weapon imaginable could be seen on those walls, to his left there was a boxing ring and on his far right he could see another room, with transparent glass and through the glass he saw a gun shooting arena and even more impressive all the shots on the dummies were straight through the heart.
Not one single miss, he followed her past that room into another, covered with a curtain. It had a mini kitchen and a mini bar, books arranged on shelves, and a bedside table shaped like a mushroom, on the far end of the room, he could see another door, which he assumed was the door leading to the bathroom
Kessari just stood there watching him observe it all
“You can rest here for the night, you should be gone by the morning, i mean it”
“I would be gone before morning, you don't have to worry about me”
“Good, I am not, now sit down over there, take your hands off your wound and let me take a look at it” she pulled a chair out for him and pushed it towards him, he caught it just in time and sat down, placing the bag he held, right by his side.
“You can't heal the wounds i have, not with human medicine, it won't work”
Kessari walked over to the cabinet, pulled it out and picked up a very old wooden box, from where Raikaelyn sat, it looked quite heavy, but she carried it with ease and placed it on top of the cabinet, she opened it up then walked towards him, pulling out another chair which she sat right in front of him
“Take your hands off let me check the wound”
This time he obeyed and didn't bother to argue, he took off his shirt and placed both hands by his side, his golden blood dripping all over the floor. It was a terrible wound, it looked like he had been shot by a hundred arrows in the same wound, just by looking at the wound she knew how much pain he must have endured, she almost felt bad for him
“So…. What do you see? Is it as bad as i think it is?”
“Yes, it is as bad as you think it is, but it's nothing I can't fix, stay still, don't move” she walked hurriedly to the top of the drawer where she placed the old box, picked three oddly shaped bottles from the box and walked straight to where he was seated
“Where did you get those??” his eyes fixed on the bottles. He knew exactly what they were and who had made them, but how a human came into possession of such medicine baffled him.
“ I know you think human medicine is no good, but trust me, these three bottles are magic, they can heal any wound, Magdha always makes me these whenever i go on a mission, i can't tell you how many times these have saved my life in battle”
“Magdha?”
“She's family, she took care of my father when he was just a baby, when my parents passed and before that, she took care of me too.”
She pulled a chair closer and sat facing him, bottles in one hand, three wipe cloths in the other.
“This is going to hurt, nothing a warrior can't handle” he let out a laugh. She smirked in response. She gently placed two bottles on the ground by her side. She opened up the bottle she still held and placed the wipe cloth over it, turning the bottle slightly as she did.
“A few drops go a long way, this should be good enough” she took off the wipe cloth and gently placed the bottle she held down. She pushed her chair slightly closer and gently she began to clean his wounds.
“Does it hurt?”
“Nothing a warrior can't handle” he said, smiling at her. A little laugh escaped her lips as she continued to gently apply the medicine on his wound
“This should clean it up nicely to avoid any infections later”
“The Borealis Clan” he said eyes fixed on her, a little sparkle in his eyes
Kessari paused for a second and looked up at him
“What are you talking about?”
Her eyes were still fixed on him and from where he was sitting he could see the curiosity in them, how she stopped abruptly, he could hear her heartbeat louder than it was before, and even though she asked him what he meant, the beating of her heart was evidence that she knew what he was saying.
“The marks of ownership you have, specifically the ones on your arms, they belong to the Borealis Clan, Reigning Alpha’s of the Gold Vein Wolves, head of the council of the States of Velmora”
She looked down, and continued cleaning the wound. She said nothing, just continued as though this was old news to her. He was surprised with her reaction.
He expected more questions, at least some sort of emotion, some sort of dramatic reaction ,but nothing. She was just quiet.
After a few more wipes, She picked another wipe and another bottle up, just like before she covered the top of the bottle with the wipe and tilted it slightly, pouring a few drops on the wipe and applying it gently to his wounds.
Still she said nothing, her eyes were fixed on his wound as she tuned all her focus to clean up his wounds. After a few minutes of silence, she finally spoke, picking up the bottles and wipes as she stood and formed her words .
