Chapter 11- unwanted reminders

Xanders POV

Xander laughed.

Hed never wouldve guessed his alpha would've been into art. 

Well....into it enough to buy a piece. 

All the art pieces in the pack house and villa were left in place after he took over, but it was mostly due to his mothers threats that they'd stayed in place.

Xander guessed the universe would have taught Daniel this lesson sooner or later. 

He had to take life a bite at a time.

He had asked Alina to place the bid to secure the art piece and she seemed excited about it. 

"So earlier...you werent trying to find our Luna. Were you?" She asked as she wrote in a bid on the clipboard.

He didnt think she had noticed.

He sighed, "It's not that...we hadnt been able to check if this place was safe."

He checked his mate's face for any sign of understanding.

She looked calm but unwavering. She wanted a clear answer.

He braced, the girls didnt know what happened outside of the club that night. As far as they were concerned, Maia's friend was so drunk that wed called them a cab and got an invite to Maia's exhibit.

"Our Luna's friend had been dancing with a demon. When we went outside to help her, the demon had a weird look on its face that we couldnt shake off...Since his interests seemed to waver to Maia, Matt and I decided to make sure tonight had no unnecessary demonic activity." He finished in a low voice.

Alina's shoulders seemed tense. 

"Lets do a complete search then...we cant afford for one of those things to hurt Maia." She finally said.

A smile broke free from him, his mate was perfect in every way.

Matts POV

He hadnt done much of anything tonight, just enjoying his mate's presence.

Les was always smiling... in complete awe with the art gallery. 

Id have to come every year from now on!

Her eyes sparkled, like a childs would if they were in a candy  store.

"She's so awesome" she said excitedly.

Les had been reserved when she first met Alina, Matt was shocked hed taken such a liking to Maia suddenly.

"She seems perfect for Daniel." Matt mused.

"And for the pack! Imagine how they'll lead together! Imagine her meeting Liz!" She half squeeled.

Matt paused, she was right. We'd all known it would happen, but none of us were preparred to see Lizeth (Daniel's mom) and Maia (a human) meet.

How long would it take Daniel to break it to her?

Matt knew, not even Daniel would be able to contain his mother. 

Shed want to meet whom the moon goddess had blessed her son with. 

The thing is..no one was ready for Maia to come home.

Not Lizeth.

Not Daniel.

Not Melissa.

Crap! He tensed at the sudden realization. None of them had even registered what had happened since only last night.

He turned his mate to look at him, her expression confused from his sudden tension.

"Babe...We forgot about Melissa." Matt groaned.

Leslie, suddenly in shock, gasped. Her mouth gapping open.

Her eyes seem to register what Matt had just said.

Yes.

 How would Melissa, Daniel's girlfriend, react to Maia, Daniel's Mate.

The night's magical air seemed to gray at the reminder of Daniel's stupidity.

Leslie's night, on the other hand, seemed to have turned into a comedy def match. The laughter that poured out of my mate seemed to be never ending. 

She clutched her stomach, not able to breathe and laugh as hard as she was.

"Oh god....oh my god! Alina is gonna LOVE throwing her ass out! ...Oh my god! Thats what she gets!" She laughed again.

Melissa was no one's favorite.

Especially not since theyd found out shed rejected her mate to stay attached to Daniel's side.

Since our pack was so big, nearly everyone could find their mate easily.

Daniel on the other hand, never did. It had been 8 years and he had lost hope. He had started to look into unmated she-wolves just to find a companion. 

An Alpha without a companion wasnt going to be taken seriously.

After hed found Melissa, theyd dated for a few months before shed found her mate one day during a hike with the girls.

Leslie and Alina had expected her to go with her mate and call things off with Daniel.

But instead, shed broken her mate's heart. She rejected him right then and there.

 Shed tried to justify herself to them by saying she owed Daniel her loyalty and devotion as his future Luna.

But the look on that poor wolf's face at his mate's rejection was enough for Les and Alina to never look at her the same way.

Since then, theyd insisted on mate's only date nights. They hated to exclude Daniel, but they couldn't be in the same room as Melissa since then.

I smiled at her, "you're really enjoying yourself arent you?" I mused.

She tried to control her laugh again, "oh c'mon babe! Appreciate the irony!!" She giggled. "Shed rejected him for being a simple warrior. She doesnt love him, she loves his title and all it brings with it." I had to hand it to her, she was right.

But Melissa wasnt his problem, that was Daniel's mess to direct.

Tonight, Matt would have 2 things to do.

Make sure there wasnt a demon in sight.

And to enjoy his mate.
