Maia's POV She knew that it was much too soon to meet his parents but she didnt mind. Shed felt so comfortable with him that it didnt matter. Shed meet anyone that was important to him. They seemed to have arrived at his home, Daniel getting off and circling to open her door for her. I could get used to this, she mused. Its not everyday that a handsome man is this gentlemanly. She took a moment as she was stepping out to appreciate his home. It looked huge. Theyd driven all the way to the outskirts of Scottsdale, up a mountain and were now in a very secluded mountainside view. She couldn't imagine what this house must cost. She could see a black Jeep parked up front of the house and three more cars in front of the garage. She smiled at him, trying to hide her nerves. "I promise it wont be painful." He whispered as he leaned in to kiss the top of her head. Despite herself, she felt more relaxed at his words. They held hands and walked to the door both smiling. Daniel opened the door and guided her in. His home was gorgeous! It looked like one of those expensive villas that she could only rent in air bnb. But the one thing that caught her eye was all the people sitting in the living room, clearly waiting on them. Daniel walked me over to the loveseat and sat down by her side. They all seemed to be very quiet, but intently staring at Daniel. Maia recognized the two girls from the club instantly, Leslie and Alina. She smiled, atleast she wasnt that alone. The older couple had to be obviously his parent's, but she wondered who the other woman could be.  She was the only one that would occasionally glance at Maia, her eyes filled with rage. After the second deadly glare, Maia had had enough. "Do I even know you?" asked Maia at the woman with the death glare. She seemed to be startled at being addressed. His parent's looked apologetic. "I'm so sorry! How rude of us! I'm Ariana, Daniel's mom. And this is Charles, his father." said Ariana as she gestured between herself and her husband. Maia smiled and got up to shake their hands, taking Ariana's hand last so as to stand right in front of the woman with the staring problem. "Whats your name?" asked Maia in her mom voice. The woman shrunk slightly in her chair, her red hair falling to her face. "Melissa." She said. Maia smiled at her, intentionally trying to irritate her, "I'm Maia." She turned to go sit next to Daniel, upon reaching him...thats when she heard it. A loud growl coming from Melissa. Everything in the room went tense. Maia turned around just in time to see Melissa jumping towards her, her hands had turned into claws. Her eyes looked as if they didnt belong to her body, they looked otherworldly. Before Maia could react, she felt it. Her magic coursing through her veins faster than adrenaline. She knew what she had just done. She knew what they would see before them...her eyes glowing a gold so bright that it couldnt be explained. She felt Daniel's hand in hers, pulling her to him. She couldnt move, she couldnt let him face that thing. She raised her left hand and sent Melissa flying towards the wall, colliding against it painfully. ... Daniel's POV He could hear their voices softly behind the door. He let himself in guiding her in first, and began his conversation. Whats this about both Fenrir and Daniel asked. There was silence as he sat down with Maia. He could sense Melissa in the room, next to his parents. We've heard that youve found your mate. Said his mother, trying to sound cheerful. Yes. We did. they said in unison again. Daniel could tell he would have to practice an enormous amount of restraint in front of Maia. Is it true that shes human? His father now chimed in. Daniel paused. He wasnt sure if his Beta and Gamma had noticed what he had in the club. He still wasnt sure what she was, but he knew she wasnt purely human. Her scent was human in nature...but every  few minutes Daniel could smell something more to her. His father mistook his pause for confirmation, She cannot be a proper Luna.  Both Fenrir and Daniel could barely hold themselves together. If it wasnt for Maia holding his hand in her lap, he would've lost it. What he means is, you must have a Luna that can be your equal. With a human, you will always be guarding her and not the pack. His mother tried to reason. Daniel saw white. White rage. You speak to me of weakness. Fenrir roared in his stead. Melissa cowered between his parents. We are not telling you to leave your mate. We are asking that a she-wolf be by your side. Your mate can still be with you. But a Luna must be able to provide much more than just love. His father finally finished. Daniel couldnt believe what he was hearing. He could never betray his mate. Daniel was about to speak, when a very commanding voice spoke first. "Do I even know you?" said Maia. Through his rage, he could see his parent's cupping their mouths in embarrassment.  He could barely hear what his mother was saying, he still hadnt processed what they were asking of him. How dare they Fenrir steamed. He heard when his mate commanded Melissa's name from her. The air of authority causing the she-wolf to hide her face. And this is whom youd rather place as Luna? Someone who cowers when faced with authority? Daniel scoffed. He knew what they'd claim, and he wasnt interested in hearing it. Before he could speak again, he felt his mate tense.  Thats when he saw it again, the flash in her eyes. This time her blue disappeared instantly. As she turned her face, he could barely make out the golden glow that flew out of her eyes. Daniel stood up instantly, pulling her right hand, pulling her closer to him. She didnt budge, not one bit. He saw her raise her left hand as if to command a stop. Daniel hadnt realized what Maia was doing. He hadnt seen Melissa lunging for her throat. He could feel all of their sudden fear as she let out a force with her left hand. Melissa was sent flying into the furthest wall. Her body hitting it with such force that her eyes seemed to roll to the back of her head. He could feel the same warmth as before radiating from Maia. The same calmness from the night before, the same power that had sent him and his pack members in a frenzy. They had search all night to no avail. And now here it was... the power source. Daniel could feel her body tense, turning to him. He looked at her, catching her worried gaze searching his body for something. "Are you ok?" asked Maia, her concerned voice causing him to finally break out of his anger. "Yes...uhm. What just happened?" asked Daniel. He looked at her beautiful brown eyes, not wanting her to worry. She breathed in slightly. Is she a witch? His mother asked. I have never seen a witch look like that! His father rebuffed. Enough. Daniel roared. Hed had enough of their speculation. You have disgraced yourselves. If your worries for my pack's safety have not subsided by now then i suggest you leave. He warned He didnt turn to see their faces, he knew what he would see. Take care of her immediately. He mindlinked Xander.  He didnt need to express who it was he needed to be taken away. She dared to stand against him and his Luna, that would not go unnoticed.  Maia would never go disrespected in his presence again. He was ashamed hed allowed his parent's to feel free to do so in the first place. He grabbed his mate's hand, pulling her into a protective embrace.  He wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on her shoulder. He didnt want her to react badly. He didnt know how he was going to react.  Shed just seen a derranged she-wolf in mid shift, lunging for her throat. Whatever her reaction, he would have to attempt to explain to her what happened. .... Maia's POV Shed never seen anything like that before. Luckily, she had seen Ash twist his features last night. She hadnt reacted as bad to him, and refused to react any different to the thing that attempted to hurt her and Daniel. She had never felt protective of anyone other than her sister, she had been worried he'd somehow gotten hurt by it. She hugged onto him, willing herself to heal him just in case. She knew he would feel it this time, healing ones body was different from calming their nerves like last night. He felt him hug her tighter, but she also felt everyone's stare. She no longer cared. If he was hurt and she didnt do something about it, shed hate herself. She heard his parent's move forward, she knew they'd be in shock. She let out enough force to stop them, calming every single person in that room. Daniel pulled back slightly, looking her directly into her eyes. "Its...I'm trying to heal you..." said Maia with tears in her eyes. She could see his eyes soften at her words, all emotions rushing through his face...finally resting on determination. He turned to face his parents, pulling her to his side. .... Daniel's POV His heart had broke at those beautiful words.  "Its...I'm trying to heal you..." said Maia with tears in her eyes. His mate was healing him. What theyd felt last night was her healing her sister. His mind was racing, even Fenrir was silent. He turned ro his parents, pulling her to his side. Will you submit? He demanded. His parents paused, staring at his mate. His mother bowed her head, causing his father to turn to face the television. Anger rose in his chest once more. Before he could react, a slow yes was heard from his father. This time out loud. They turned to head to the kitchen, disappearing around the side of the wall Melissa had crashed into.
