Chapter 20- cosmic joke

Asmodeus POV He had lived throughout the ages as any disgraced celestial being would, going where he pleased and doing as he wished. He had been drawn to the deepest pits of hell plenty of times, and every time he had been present he had witnessed something he would never forget. He had been present in the shadows when Belial had taken an angel's life. The angel being one of the few that he did not despise. Asmodeus could not say he was angry at what he had witnessed, he was saddened by his departure. But he had seen the angel's arrogance as his downfall. He stayed quiet as Belial turned to Lucifer and untied him. He was amazed when Lucifer had looked so defeated. Asmodeus had never been calm per say, he had roamed the earth enough to gain pleasure from man's corruption. It wasnt only Lucifer that went that path, but his were for different reasons. He loved corrupting the innocent. He would take any form if to take a human's innocence, in the end leaving them pleased and never finding quite the thrill again. He laughed when his lusting ways came to be associated with a greek god that had a reputation of seducing any beautiful human or being that crossed his path. In the end he was flattered to be called a god, even if they called him Zeus. Of course, he preffered his actual name rather than be notorious by laying claim to another name. Yet, he couldnt bring himself to stop when their eyes would widen with passion and lust as he whispered Zeus into their lips after they would ask who he was. Many witches claimed to be God's themselves, allowing for themselves to be worshipped as if they were a god. This amused Asmodeus the most, God's creations laying claim to his own thrown. Even after all these centuries, Asmodeus would always be entertained by that. Then one day, he was summoned.  It wasnt as if he was summoned by a human or a witch, no it was much more celestial in nature. As if it werent weird enough to be summoned by a force he could only describe as when his fellow angel's were brought to life by god, he was in a hospital. He stood there in a delivery room looking at none other than Belial. He was hovering over a woman, her body was going limp. He could see Belial's face twist in agony, as if it were him being torn from his body and not that woman. Asmodeus couldn't help himself, something calling him further into the room. He saw a table that had lights directly above pointing downward, but what caught his attention was a little hand that reached out. He came close enough to see the small being inside, still covered in bloody mucous. The small thing stirred in its resting place, reaching towards him. He could hear Belial from behind him, even felt him as he tried to push everything away from him with a strong sudden force. Asmodeus couldnt move. He stood his ground, not being able to turn away from the small child. He felt when Belial left, he turned to confirm thqt he had taken the woman with him. Asmodeus recognized that Belial was bonded to her, mated even. He couldnt help in staying longer, not even curious to see what Belial would do or where he would take the almost dead human. He himself was completely captivated by the small human child.  The nurses began to peek through the doors, checking to see what had happened or maybe how they had been tossed aside. He could hear their whispers when they came back inside, thankfully he wasnt visible to them. The baby yawned, stretching its limbs as far as it could, causing Asmodeus to chuckle lightly. He didnt know what had happened today, but he was sure this tiny creature was the one that summoned him.  He couldnt bring himself to leave its side.  Asmodeus wasnt angry at the fact that this child was now in his care, he had been in a long slumber. He had roamed the earth and beyond to his heart's content. After a few eons, he had grown tired. Asmodeus wasnt ready to take his life, he wasnt a fool like others had been. But he did find another dimension where he could rest, not having to hear any of the commotions between demons and angels. Awakened by a child, he mused. He wasn't the best choice for this child, after all, his sole purpose in life was to enjoy its pleasures and destroy that which bore him. And yes, did he enjoy destroying to his hearts content. Even in the other world's, he made sure to make his evil mark. And now as this nurse grabbed the baby in her arms and walked out, he was determined to follow. He could feel the power radiating from the child, its presence almost impossible to ignore. Almost as if the baby was beckoning him to follow. 1 year later... He was not made for this life. Asmodeus looked at the now slightly older child as it wobbled its way across into the woman's arms. He had grown indifferent to the woman that cared for the child, her and her mate. At first he had made it a purpose to scare her out of her skin. He had hated the thought of such potential being raised by a human. Yet again, Asmodeus hadnt even cared for his children. He knew he had bore many children to many women, some human some not so human. It was his favorite part of his past, all the lovers one could ask for. He had only left his presence unknown after he saw the woman race to save the child when their home was broken into.  He hadnt been there and thought that humans wouldnt try to harm the child. He grew angry when he saw that disgusting thing pull a gun and head straight to its bedroom. That human had been around alot lately, mostly outside of the house staring in. He wasnt asleep, just resting against the dark when he heard the woman barricade the door as she yelled at it to go away. Just as the man took aim at the door, Asmodeus decided to make his grand entrance. He allowed the human to see its demonic form slowly creep out of the shadows of that same door. His eyes widening as it stared at the fog that slowly surrounded him. Its venomous effects slowly embracing his senses, opening his eyes to the demon before him. "Oh God!" He shrieked. I smiled at his cry, knowing full well that he wouldnt be able to forget what he just saw. I flashed my silver eyes as i spoke, "Your God has abandoned you."  He screamed, turning immediately to attempt to run away. My fog had already consumed him, he had no where to go. "There is only one place that you belong to." I purred, making sure to emphasize every word. Before he could yell again, I turned him to look me in the eyes, his body flailing around him helplessly. I knew what to do to him. Humans threw their cruelty around as if they had no consequences. Today, this man would be an example. Asmodeus gifted him the sight of hell. He held his head below, into the gates of hell, making sure he saw what his eternity held for him. The man screamed hysterically, his eyes not being able to endure what they were seeing. Asmodeus would not allow anything to harm the child, but he couldnt deny his nature as well. He laughed as the human grew insane from what he saw. Every night he would visit him in his hospital, creeping out of the shadows and would drag him again to hell. His wrath was never quenched when it came to this man. Every night he would come up with a new way to torment him, every night he would end in the same place, the man screaming bloody murder as he was plunged into hell head first. Asmodeus would always bring him back at dawn, making sure he had no wounds. After 10 years, he grew bored and finally left him alone in his insanity. And every night, he waited for the torture to begin, only to be driven more insane by the memories. ... Asmodeus watched as the child finally took her first steps alone. There was no one around at thqt moment, her adoptive mother having had walked into the other room to make her a bottle. He looked at her closely, making sure she did not harm herself. Thats the first time he saw it, the baby was staring right at him. Her once brown eyes were shinning an angelic gold.  He froze, unable to comprehend what he was seeing. The baby continued to walk as it wobbled, but headed straight to him. Her hands were glowing as well as they were outstretched for him directly. She smiled as she reached him, her chubby hands slowly inching closer. He was baffled. This child should not be able to see him...even if she was Belial's daughter. Before he could do anything, the woman called out her name. Pulling her attention away, and to his surprise, causing her eyes to return to normal. The baby stood there as she turned her head to face where she had heard the voice come from. As the woman returned, she quickly swooped her up in her arms and craddled her against her bossom. "Come on Maia, time for a nap." She cooed.
