When He Needs Me

1266 Words

NINA'S POV The mirror doesn’t care that my world is unraveling…it only asks that I look presentable. I don't. My towel is wrapped tight around my waist and my wet hair sticks to my skin and drips into my eyes. I stare at my background in the mirror. My running clothes are strewn across the floor and my bedsheets are ruffled and unmade. Thirty minutes is not enough time to wash the anger off my skin and put on a new expression. Cassian will have to manage my half frown. I rummage through my wardrobe, wondering why he's calling me on my day off. Shouldn't he be with his fiancè and her perfect red hair? I pick out a white sundress with blue flower patterns. It slides low off my shoulders. My fingers tighten around my comb and I run it through my hair, wincing when I hit a snag.
