Emily’s POV:
“Well, that’s not good.” Justin says as he backs up into my back, fiddling with the rope that has my hands tied behind my back.
“Why would you say that?” I ask and start using my shoulder to remove the blindfold over my eyes.
“Well, you see how they are slowly surrounding us? They all seem to have some sort of weapon and I’m pretty sure that guy has a baseball bat.” He gestures to a guy swinging something like a bat behind his back.
“You ready?” I whisper over my shoulder at him as he gets the last knot out of the rope.
“Only if you are.” He says and stiffens his back against mine. I can feel every muscle in his back. I have to stifle the grin on my face as I think about the last time I touched his bare back.
Without saying a word, the two of us jumped forward, knocking down a big portion of the attackers, but it didn’t take long for them to come at us. Half started to go after Justin, while the other half came after me. The guy with the bat was on my side. He takes a swing at me but I jump out of the way. The edge of the bar nearly missed my mid section. I kick the next guy in the gut and snag the pole he was using to block the bat from coming to hit me again.
All of the attackers decide to move forward at once. I do my best to keep them back but I’m not sure I can at this point. Someone hits me in the back of my knee and it buckles. I push with my pole as hard as I can to keep the guy with a bat at bay, but I see out of the corner of my eye Justin being punched in the face. Without thinking, I reach my hand out and grab the guy that hit Justin with my powers. I fling him across the room and then use both my hands to freeze everyone else in their place.
“Meeeh!” Elijah yells across the room like a buzzer. “I said no powers!”
“Oh come on!” I blurt out as everyone drops to the ground. “What is the point of having my powers if I can’t use them!”
“What’s the point? You are a werewolf. You have the strength people dream about having and healing abilities that no one can even imagine. The point of your powers is to enhance your already supernatural abilities. You rely on your powers so much that when they are taken from you, you’re vulnerable.” Elijah steps forward with his arms crossed. “You need to learn to fight as a werewolf, and then fight as a true alpha.”
I dramatically throw my arms in the air and roll my eyes. I turn and look at Justin. “You good?”
He wipes the blood from his bottom lip. “Of course. I can handle a little punch.” He smiles and jumps up to his feet.
I raise my eyebrow and chuckle a little. “Alright. Well, stop getting in trouble. It’s making me have to save you.”
His nose wrinkles and he flips his hair to the side. He widens his eyes and leans over. “Well, then stop saving me.” He whispers in my ear. “I can handle myself.”
Elijah walks over with the wolfsbane ropes and blind folds. “Let’s try this again.”
