Chapter 15 - Targeting the Greco's

2088 Words
By the time Nicola and the others finally arrived on site of the Greco’s hired out private villa, located right on the beachside cliffs, it was already around midnight and the air had begun to cool down noticeably. The modern-looking villa was still and silent, with most of the lights out by now. Shadowed figures dressed all in black swept across the well-kept grass, making sure not to alert any of the guards on duty, scanning and walking around the perimeter of the property. It was those men’s jobs to ensure the Greco men got their sleep. But tonight, those men would fail... And in turn, pay with their very lives. - After disabling each of the armed guards one by one and sneaking their way in through the back entrance of the large villa, Nicola led the team along in silence. The muscular leader held out his trusted glock with the attacked silencer on the end as he scanned each room cautiously before giving a signal with his hand to proceed from one room to the next. The first couple of bedrooms they searched had henchmen staying in them, who were either fast asleep or engaging in ‘assorted night-time activities’ with local women for hire. Each of those men were quickly taken out of the picture with a swift bullet to the head. The women prompted to get the hell out of there as quietly as possible while Nicola led the others along to search the next room. Sneaking inside in silence, Nicola immediately noticed a young man splayed out on the mattress with a blanket lying across his mid-section. Two naked Italian women were spooned into him with their arms draped over his defined chest, one on each side as the three slumbered peacefully. They had no idea of the danger lurking mere metres away from them. Luca searched the bedside table, quickly locating the loaded gun sitting there unattended and wisely tucking it into his belt. Nicola in the meanwhile rounded the bed and came to check on the identity of the sleeping man nestled between the beautiful women. They were after two men in particular, the Greco father and son, Raphael and Alonzo. As he came to stand right over them, Nicola grinned from ear to ear as he took in the facial features of the Greco son, Alonzo. He looked so peaceful. Pity… Within seconds, he and the others were in position for Alonzo’s rude awakening, while Lanzo led the others into the next room to find Alonzo’s father, Raphael. Holding out his gloved hand, Nicola was promptly handed the piece of cloth soaked in chloroform; their ticket to sedating the Mafia Boss’ son. The strange scent of the chloroform must have caused the woman nearest to where Nicola was standing over them to wake, as she slowly opened her eyes and noticed the group of men wearing black surrounding the bed. Each with their guns pointed directly at her. The woman’s mocha eyes widened in terror and her mouth opened to make a scream, but she quickly noticed Luca lifting his pointed finger up over where his mouth would be, now hidden behind the balaclava mask he wore. A silent warning for her to remain quiet and not to wake the others just yet. With Luca signalling for her to come out of the bed, the woman quickly obliged and slowly climbed out, soon after being shooed away by the men surrounding the bed. Then with a clear shot directly at their target, the gigantic Nicola leaned in over the edge of the bed and suddenly slammed the sedative-soaked cloth down over Alonzo’s mouth and nose, instantly waking him. His eyes shot open, and he began struggling and attempting to shout out for help. Alonzo’s frantic movements and muffled grunts were enough to wake the other woman sleeping beside him. She gasped before being grabbed and pulled out of the way by one of the offsiders while Nicola worked to subdue Alonzo as he continued to struggle pointlessly. In a matter of a minute Alonzo’s movements began to falter and his breaths came out long and ragged, his eyes dazed and began to slowly close. The chloroform appeared to be working. And then he was out like a light. Target number one had been neutralised and was promptly dressed with a nearby robe before being tied up and carried out by his shoulders back down the hallway of the villa. At the same time, Lanzo had worked with his men to sedate Raphael, but weren’t merely as lucky with the wiser father. Raphael had managed to get a shot off in the scuffle and the bullet hit Lanzo in the leg before the Mafia Don was wrestled down to the ground by the other men and disarmed. They wasted no time injecting him instead of using chloroform; no time. When the Greco Mafia Boss was also unconscious, they worked to carry him out the same way that Alonzo had been transported, back out through the exterior entrance and to the waiting SUV’s parked nearby. Raphael, now bound with his hands and feet, was thrown into the boot of the first car. Alonzo into the boot of the second. The SUV’s both kicked up gravel as they sped off back down the driveway leading up to the cliffside villa, with both Greco men having been captured. Their mission was successful. They had their targets and only one injury to report of. Now it was time to share the good news with their boss. - Dante sat by Alexa’s side the entire night, until she finally woke almost three hours after fainting. It was unusual for her to simply faint and he was concerned that there may be something more going on with her, perhaps with her health. The doctor was due to arrive in less than five minutes to check her over as Dante had wanted him to. As the Mafia Don sat in the darkened room, swirling a glass of scotch on the rocks in his hand, he heard the sound of Alexa’s voice as she began to stir and finally wake. He instantly placed the glass down onto the nearest surface and stood, walking across to sit beside her on the bed. Even though it was the middle of the night, the room had been made purposefully darker, to assist Alexa with her resting. It was clear that Dante was worried about her. “Bella?” He spoke softly, reaching down and brushing his fingers along the side of her face as she slowly opened her eyes and focused on him. “Dante?” she queried, seemingly confused as to how she had gotten here with him. Looking around, Alexa realised where they were and she began to sit up in the bed, slowly and carefully. Dante couldn’t help but reach out to try and support her while she did this. “How are you feeling? You had me worried there.” he announced, looking her in the eye. She gave him a weak smile before replying. “I’m alright. What happened?” “You… don’t remember?” he asked, frowning in confusion. “Not really. I was with Willow, we were talking and…” she trailed off and her expression changed all of a sudden. Dante noticed this almost immediately and began to wonder what had caused it. “And?” he wisely prompted. “And… then I woke up here.” Although Alexa had told the truth to him, she conveniently skipped over the important part where she had gone into a full-blown panic while believing herself to be pregnant. He seemed to mull over her response for a moment, as if he could somehow sense that she wasn’t telling him everything about what had happened. “Something must have happened for you to react in such an extreme way, bella.” he urged kindly. “I’m here for you. I hope you know that.” His words touched her very soul at their depth and meaning. She smiled, reaching out her hand to place it over his as it rested on the mattress beside her. It was a way of her showing her appreciation, even if she couldn’t say it aloud. “The doctor’s on his way now. Should be here soon. I’ll have him check you over and-” “No!” Alexa quickly cutting in over the end of his sentence startled him and his expression showed it as he sat up and stared down at her. “What do you mean, no?” he enquired. She thought for a moment, licking her insanely dry lips and biting her bottom one. “I… er… just don’t need a doctor. That’s all.” she gave the world’s worst performance to lie. Of course, Dante saw right through it, lifting his left brow in curiosity. “And why is that?” “Because… I feel great.” she lied, pulling the covers back and getting out the other side of the bed in an attempt to try and prove it to him. But a man like Dante Romano was not foolish even in the slightest. “Alexa…” his tone showed authority and control as he came to stand, straightening his suit jacket with both hands as he continued. “The doctor will be here soon. You will remain in here until he arrives.” “What?” She spoke in astonishment at the way he was talking to her. It was as if he were giving her commands rather than requests as he usually did. 'Ding!' The sound of Dante's phone notification suddenly sounding broke right into the middle of their conversation and both looked down at Dante's jacket pocket as it lit up and vibrated for a moment. He had received a text message. Dante huffed as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, keeping his eyes on Alexa as he spoke one last time before glancing down at the message now displayed on the screen. “You will allow him to conduct whatever tests he requires. Do not make it difficult for him, do you understand?” “Like hell I will!” she snapped defiantly. “You can’t order me around! You have no right!” Dante's eyes dropped down to the message on his screen... 'The package has been delivered.' His demeanour suddenly changed and he slowly closed the gap between both him and Alexa in a rather intimidating fashion. She watched as he stopped right in front of where she stood, almost backing her up against the bedpost as he stared down into her eyes with a powerful aura. This wasn’t her Dante anymore… This was the Reaper. The feared and merciless Mafia Boss she had heard about so much stood right before her now. And she couldn’t but help wonder why. What had caused such an extreme change in him in such a short amount of time? The tone of his voice had become a lot more serious now, if that were even possible. The look in his darker green eyes almost challenged her to attempt defying his command as he stared directly into hers. “You will stay here and allow him to treat you. Do not leave this room, Alexa. Understand?” Swallowing nervously as guilt racked at the back of her brain, Alexa frowned defiantly back at him for even trying to control her. How dare he! Opening her mouth, she went to interject again, but his finger quickly raised in a gesture to silence her once more. And she obeyed, much to her disgust. The sheer balls of this man! Thinking that he could talk to her like that, as if she were some kind of servant or an employee he could boss around… it was beyond a joke! Stunned by his behaviour and not sure how to react to it, Alexa merely watched as he turned and marched out of the room, opening the door and closing it directly behind him with a soft ‘click’. Her blood boiled. Her teeth gnawed together angrily. Her eyes narrowed into fine slits. She wasn’t going to just stay here and wait for some doctor to come visit and perform god only knows what tests on her. There was no way! Dante had no right treating her this way. And she was going to make sure that he understood that loud and clear…
