82nd Tick: Counter

Rose reached out for the mirror and asked, “Do I just break it?” “Yes.” Gira replied. The twins were staring at her, watching her every move. Rose grabbed it and paused, wasn’t it considered bad luck to break a mirror? She dismissed the thought and threw it on the ground. Thomas stood there, slightly confused. He saw the demons and got into a battle stance. Rose tapped his shoulder, gaining his attention. “What are you doing here?” Thomas asked, whispering. “I saved you, you better thank me.” She whispered back, pulling his sleeve. “I’ll do that later, now’s not the time.” He whispered in reply to her whispering. “I’ll have you know I struggled to get here.” “Did you really?” “No, actually, I did not.” “What are you even doing here?” “I saved you, be thankful.” “I’ll do that later!” Gira leaned closer to Mini, who was still munching on her pie. He whispered, “I do not think they know that we are able to hear them.” She nodded and continued eating. “They know!” Thomas whispered softer. “That’s what you get for speaking so loud!” Rose said, softening her voice too. “I need to bring the captain back.” “Don’t.” “What?” “Don’t.” “I heard you the first time, What? As in Why?” Rose poked his ribs and whispered, “Because of you we almost died. If you bring him back, I’m going to die too along with you.” “I won’t die that easily.” “Doesn’t matter, just don’t bring the captain back.” “They’ll attack if I bring him back?” “Yes.” Rose whispered. “They don’t know where the Devil is, right? We have no reason to be here anymore, let’s just leave already.” Thomas hesitated, giving the twins a glance before whispering, “But...” “There’s no buts anymore! You would rather risk everything for that one guy? You haven’t even reached the Devil yet! Think about the big picture!” Rose whispered, slightly more aggressive. While they were whispering, Gira looked at the pie he just ate. “Did you use rabbit meat this time?” Mini nodded happily. “How did you even get a rabbit here?” Gira asked. Mini simply shrugged and continued eating. “You don’t understand, it’s literally my job.” Thomas countered. “It’s the whole purpose of my existence to begin with.” “It’s a pointless battle anyways.” Rose retorted. “It’s not.” Rose looked into Thomas’ eyes and saw a slight glint in his black eyes. He seemed to be planning something, and Rose could guess what it was. He was trying to push her into saying something, and she knew him well enough to know. She really did not want to do such a thing, but there was no choice. “Are you going to forsake me to save a human?” Rose asked, slightly louder, with the bare minimum of emotion in it. “Wh-” Thomas stuttered, visibly confused. “After all the time we spent together, you’re going to risk it to save some human we met a few days ago?” Rose asked, speaking louder yet again. “The audacity!” “Not at all.” Thomas said. “You’re always like that, saving other people and putting us at risk! Sometimes, I just wish you would think about your own well-being and mine too.” Rose said dramatically. Gira tapped his sister’s shoulder, getting her attention. “This seems more dramatic than I expected.” Mini nodded vigorously, watching the action. “Obviously I would think about you.” Thomas retorted. “You have been on my mind for the longest time.” Rose felt herself die inside when he said that, but she pushed on. “But you don’t! You do everything yourself and never tell me anything! Do I mean that little to you.” Thomas opened his mouth to say something, and at that point the demons were too interested in their argument. Thomas noticed the opening and said, “Second Hour.” Mini stood up, daggers drawn, but it was too late. Captain Wave appeared, a clock over his head. The captain took a look of his surroundings and understood what had to be done. His magic power was replenished so he pointed at Mini, and used Blast. She danced out of the way and ran at him. Gira stood there and said, “Then I guess all three will die.” But no one was actually paying attention to him. Rose shouted at Thomas, “Your acting sucked!” “What do you mean?” Rose pretended to vomit. “Your lines literally made me die.” “Shut up, you were the one who started it!” “I didn’t know you were that bad at improvised acting!” “Like you were any better!” Captain Wave grabbed the both of them and jumped into the air. They floated out, dodging red slashes on the way out. Rose shouted, “I’m not doing that again, never again!” “Neither am I!” Thomas shouted back. “Can’t the both of you stop your lover’s quarrel?” Captain Wave asked. “Shut up, because of you, I had to say all that!” Rose shouted, elbowing the captain’s sides. “Because of you, my plan to win was ruined!” Thomas shouted, elbowing his sides too. He dropped slightly, and the both of them stopped elbowing him. Captain Wave was zooming fast through the air, heading out. He asked Thomas, “What’s the plan to defeat them now?” “There is no plan, return to ship!” Thomas shouted over the wind. “Got it!” However, before they could even make it to the shore, a mirror appeared in front of them. A pair of hands reached out and a body appeared, Gira jumped from the mirror. Captain Wave slowed down midair, but was tackled by Gira into the ground. They crashed into the ground hard, Gira landed in Rose who landed on Thomas who landed on Captain Wave. Rose scrambled out of the way, Thomas pushing Gira off forcefully before Captain Wave tried punching the demon. Captain Wave was pushed back instead, the attack being reflected. Gira grabbed the captain’s head and lifted him before throwing him into the ground. He then reached to grab Thomas’ suit and pulled him closer before striking his neck, snapping his neck. Rose stepped back, wary. Before he could do anything to Rose, Captain wave grabbed his leg and pulled him, making Gira fall over. The demon kicked at his face before he elbowed the ground. The damage reflected off the ground to Captain Wave, his face being smashed in. Thomas threw himself on Gira, grabbing his arm before a mirror appeared above them, the heat reflecting off several mirrors and setting Thomas on fire. He reversed time on himself, getting rid of the fire, but Gira grabbed his throat and from a lying down position, dug his fingers into his neck. Thomas appeared not too far away.
